  1. I hope anal isn't a bad word here, cause that's what the last few pages are here ... for those that don't know, this was a television show .. NOTHING on it was true. Please let let Davin continue his build.
  2. I have to comment on the widely acclaimed Tamiya Paint Stand. This is a nicely designed stand as far as holding the body secure. The problem I have with it is being able to thoroughly cover the body with paint. Due to the low nature of it I find myself picking it up in my hands to get good paint coverage to the underside surfaces .. like wheel well edges. I paint in a typical hobby paint booth. So, it sits while my "never defeated", virtually free, coat hangers do their thing.
  3. woot .. a rare Volvo! nicely done weathering! what scale is that?
  4. Look in the Tips & Tricks section for the pinned thread by Clay on posting photos.
  5. Those rear wheels look menacing the way they fit. Your hand painting skills are amazing.
  6. I have to agree ... for some reason that front end treatment lures me in every time! The paint on this really makes it stand out.
  7. I hope you upgraded the rings too with those two huge pressure pumps!
  8. That fits the Stylus ... have it on mine.
  9. I have a Stylus that I got about 3 years ago to replace my corded one. I can't say enough about this model .. it had the advantage, like the normal battery one, of being able to go at a much lower speed than the corded one, therefore rotating at a speed more compatible to plastics. The gun shaped handle is very comfortable to use and it can be used in a number of positions depending on the task at hand. Maybe the best part is the stand which keeps the battery fully charged at all times. I love this model and my corded Dremel hasn't come back to any use since getting it.
  10. Experienced modelers can turn those odd chunks of plastic into a piece of art. There IS much experienced involved, but most of the finished product is care and finesse. Don't pressure yourself too much, but you can do a decent build the first time just by proceeding slowly and thinking about each step you do. The "SPECTACULAR" part of this build would be your desire to do something for a friend. Adding aftermarket parts is not going to change much and I would feel it's not necessary. There's much more to a build than how many "cool" parts you added. Subtle things like color or trim you friend might have mentions would mean much more. But not to discourage you, here's a few links to places making parts that might interest you... Model Car Garage Morgan Automotive Detail
  11. I like your ideas ... will be something different.
  12. The sectioning has great proportions. The front grill treatment is fantastic ... so easy yet looks great!
  13. That's looking good. I especially impressed with the signs.
  14. The idea is a good one ... just take the "contest" out of it. Oh, we have more community builds going on here than you can count!
  15. The only thing I can think to say or ask is ... does that super glue last more than one use before gluing itself shut? ... my jaw dropped again .. dang.
  16. sure doesn't sound like it.
  17. I'd love to see this in 1/25 too. Nice that it has a full engine!
  18. What did you use for chroming the valve covers? Whatever it was it looks really good. And, a wild guess on the receiving body .. a GMC Truck!
  19. Great looking TR! This is timely as I just got a Minicraft TR3 kit to reproduce the TR4A I had ... along with the Air-Trax TR4 resin body. It's unfortunate that neither of the TR3 kits have engines, though.
  20. This is a gorgeous looking build! But, why is that guy passing on the left? .. I guess you do whatever you want in a Ferrari!
  21. My Mom still says I'm her best model! She turned 90 a week ago.
  22. OK, first my real name is here and ... this is the ONLY place on the internet it is listed. It took a bit of time for me to come to terms with posting my real name, but it was the nature of the members here that made the decision easy. I've been online in one form or another since the 80's .. that was BEFORE the internet for you kids. The first rule everyone learned back then was .. DON'T POST YOUR REAL NAME! I got involved in many things that made this a no-brainer, but it just was sensible for many reasons. It was burned into my online makeup to use an online name. Foxer is actually my main character of over 10 years in Everquest. The advent of social networks has changed everything ... all kids think giving out their personal information to the world is cool. Now, with so many "known" identities available, I feel ok with my real name here!
  23. I don't consider myself a polishing expert but 2000 grit is pretty course. The polishing cloths I use go as fine as 12000 grit and then still need some polishing compound to get the final shine up. The coarsest grit I'll start polishing with is usually 3200 when I have a lot of orange peel. I doubt a polishing compound could take 2000 grit scratches out.
  24. This is too good to let lie (I should talk! ) Very interesting bed ,, I do encourage you to finish it up!
