  1. As usual, you have this one dead on ... stance, look and build!
  2. Thanks guys. Got my order in for that 1/64" gold.
  3. I think he's "running" ... ie., the SAFETY cones and placement! BTW, is that one bad try for a Vette or what?!
  4. My son was given a low cost Atlas Train Set when young and I decided to paint the engine to represent the railroad I grew up around, The New Haven Railroad.I also did a few other cars as I remember seeing many years ago. They all got new details such as grab irons and Kaydee couplers. This was done about 15 years ago and I just came on these photos. The train set is buried in my son's garage. Someday I should dig everything out and rephotograph everything.
  5. I just came upon this one recently ... Arii Porsche 924 Turbo. The side body, especially windows, proportions are way out of whack. Instead of a low sleek missile it looks like one of us pot bellied modelers! Below is a photo with the Arii on top and a properly done Monogram 924 below. It's too bad about the body because other parts, like front and rear fascias are done really well.
  6. Hmmm ... kynar wire ... thanks for that, Jim. I never heard of that wire type. Searching I saw colors not available in Radio Shack wrapping wire.. like black! And it is available in different gauges to boot. My wife's sewing basket is safe again! As for wire color, it's your build and do it the way YOU want! That's why this hobby is so infectious .. we can build cars as we like without losing the mortgage payment.
  7. After your first comment, Mark, I looked up the Monogram kit and saw two turbo's on ebay for reasonable prices. Not sure if I'll bite but I'm tempted and may just use the Arii bumpers if they work. The Arii wheels look right too. All the 924 turbos did have rear spoilers I'm positive. Mine was an '81 so it was a couple years into them. The only possibility of not having one could be the first in '79 that was only in Europe.
  8. Me too pretty much.
  9. I have what I believe is Monogram non turbo kit that I build years ago (it has hand painted trim!) and comparing it to the Arii body it definably looks more accurate. The Arii has smaller side windows and the belt line is too high as a result. There are other small differences but nothing like the obvious window error. Here's a shot with both bodies at same distance ... The bottom of the built Monogran body is painted black. This may throw a monkey wrench into my plans but I'm glad you commented, Mark. I do like much of the way the Arii handles the front and rear end parts. It will be much easier detailing and realistic looking from the ends. Something would have to be done with the windows .. might be able to lower the bottom but will have to explore that. And I thought this was going to be a simple UNMODIFIED out of the box build! :(
  10. I'm a bit late coming back to this thread but it popped up on a goggle for 924 turbos! That was an unfortunate 944 experience, Skip. I truly did have good luck with the ones I had. The handling was what really made me love these cars .. they were so neutral and made me look like Jackie Stewart! I did just pickup the Arii 924 kit and it is perfect to duplicate the 81 I had. There's no engine and little underside detail but what's there is done very nice. the front fascia has 11 parts alone while the rear has 7. The interior also is well done. The body is right and this will make a nice little box stock build.
  11. Awesome job! I was trying to figure where you got the kit before reading through all you post.
  12. I'm considering starting yet another build, but a curbside and virtually an out of kit build ... hardly a change for a change and maybe I can finish it. It's a 924 Turbo that I had and was dark brown with a gold pinstripe from front to rear. I know I've seen pretty thin tape that should work but now I can't locate any. It would have to be 1/64" or less. The stuff for 1:1 cars starts around 1/8" and is way to wide. I'm not sure what it actually called which has hurt my searches. Can anyone give me a lead where I might find it?
  13. Looks good and I've sure better than it shows here. Every monitor looks different too, I expect you could have gotten the exact paint like from here. Bah, it didn't get the link right to the paint, but easy to find.

  22. An unusual looking engine on the Jag for sure!
  23. Ah Charlie .. I did see you but didn't realize it was you. I noticed all that equipment cause I was hauling my Nikon D80 around ...just built-in flash though. Did you take the pics for the club? I noticed how much light they had. It's looking like I'm going to miss NNL East this year.
