  1. Interesting that now that NHRA has let Pro Stock to morph into Pro Mod/Injected, they brought back the carbureted cars to remind people what Pro Stock was.
  2. Slicks may be too big. Whatever you do, if you're doing period correct is get rid of the Eagle marking. Goodyears of this era were Blue Streaks.
  3. Depending on the year, a suppercharged motor would be a double letter, like AA, BB, CC. More than likely, with that motor, BB/Gas.
  4. Concerning parachutes, NHRA has been historically pretty strict on parachutes. If the car runs in a class with a 150 mph record, any car that runs that class needs a chute.
  5. The line is either at the lower side or in the rear, opposite of the pedal. It is not exiting on the side of the pedal. That is a different design as shown on the most excellent Building the Snake Pit article.
  6. Prediction. RE-releasing the MPC Pro Stock kits.
  7. What scale is the Luv? Is it really 1/24 or the funky 1/22 or so of the Monogram Dodge Challenger?
  8. If it was molded in true 1/25th scale, it would be an interesting funny car conversion.
  9. At least this one is made in metal, aluminum
  10. I looked at the pictures again. Its a Palmer. I found pictures of a Palmer on line and the front and rear match plus the roof seam and the roll bar. Strange as it seems, I'd still like it if its REALLY cheap.
  11. Revell made two Mavericks. One a really bad funny car and the other a 1/32 kit. - Not those MPC made one Maverick which was issued as the Mutli Maverick and the Warhorse. I'm fairly certain they used the same mold for the Jolly Rodger funny car. Not those JoHan did a Maverick that was issued as a pro stock and a stock with funny car options.- Maybe the stock option although the tail lights are wrong. I also can't believe the builder would remove the window trim so neatly and then hack the rest of it. AMT also did a release using the JoHan molds with a different hood. -that doesn't match the box art. Otaki is shown as releasing a 1/25 Maverick. Maybe. Either way, I'd love to have it. I have a project it would be perfect for.
  12. I often modify typical sanding stick by cutting them down. I'm just curious if any found anything special about them.
  13. I found these listed on eBay..... https://www.ebay.com/itm/10-in-1-Stainless-Steel-Model-Grinding-Stick-File-Parts-Set-Hobby-Craft-Tools/143385151405?_trkparms=aid%3D333200%26algo%3DCOMP.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D20171012094517%26meid%3Da738264b812645f3b597ee0d948aabd4%26pid%3D100008%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D5%26sd%3D401930534733%26itm%3D143385151405%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2047675&_trksid=p2047675.c100008.m2219 Anyone tried them or have feedback?
  14. What color is it? What color is the primer and did you use a gold or silver under layment?
  15. How did I miss that the first three times I looked?
  16. Strange as it seems but that color isn't listed by almost every maker of scratch paint. MCW doesn't make it. The Tamiya color looks like a good choice over silver.
  17. Before I order a can or two....is this a metalflake or a gloss. I need a metalflake that matchens this:http://www.slixx.com/7105.htm It is starting to challenge me. Thanks!
  18. I've had the same idea. I'm glad you're running with it.
  19. We could always start a gasser build off thread here.
  20. Rodders Journal works on a different revenue model than Car Craft or Street Rodder. RJ is for the most part a coffee table book. Its designed for the enthusiast who is more a spectator than an active builder. While they may have a hot rod in the garage, more than likely it was bought not built by the owner (sorta like die casts). The how-to articles of Car Craft and Street Rodder were often in exchange for advertising. They'd feature the product in a build up if the manufacturer committed to advertising. The decline in the magazines that served the shade tree mechanic is reflective in the decline of people who will attempt to do things themselves. This is reflective of our society. Note full range hardware stores are also on the decline. While box stores carry some hardware go looking for something oddball like a 2.5mm screw. Good luck. I'm surprised Hot Rod Deluxe was cancelled. As said previously, their use of pre existing material should make them less expensive to produce. While HRD may have sold more new stand copies per issue cost, Hot Rod has a larger subscriber base which does reduce editorial costs. Their revenue models were different. HRD was new stand sales driven while Hot Rod is ad revenue driven. It is interesting to note they claim they will continue covering the same editorial content digitally. A digital publication can be great. Smithsonian did at one time produce a great digital publication with video content to illustrate the written content. Sadly it was too expensive at the time to continue publishing it in that format. It will be interesting to see what magazines will step up to fill the void.
  21. Sadly with the announcement of more car related magazines folding, FB may be the next source of information about 1:1 cars.
  22. I went looking to confirm the Street Rodder was gone. Sadly I found this: https://www.foliomag.com/ten-publishing-shuttering-19-print-magazines/#list Here's the death list: Here’s a full list of discontinued titles: 4-Wheel & Off-Road Automobile Car Craft Chevy High Performance Classic Trucks  Diesel Power Hot Rod Deluxe  Jp Lowrider Mopar Muscle Muscle Car Review Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords Mustang Monthly Street Rodder Super Chevy  Super Street Truck Trend  Truckin’ Vette Everything is supposed to shutter during 2020. DARN IT!
  23. Mike Powell and the other fine folks at the FB page Model Cars Of Gasser's,A,B,C/FX, Altered's,F/C,Pro Stocks up to 1983 is sponsoring a gasser build off from January 19th to March 19th. The subject area is limited to 1950s Fords built in a 60's style. The rules are pretty simple. Post a picture of the unstarted kit on or after January 19th and complete it by March 15th. The car needs to be built in that window which for me, will be a huge challenge. Its a good group, strictly moderated so it doesn't veer into non drag racing or model car building topics. Could be a good place for some SLMers to post their builds.
