  1. I'm curious if the engine was shared with the Grim Reaper. Your build is great. I agree the flake looks right out of the 60's with flake molded into the fiberglass.
  2. Easy to reshape the non chrome part. The tank sides could be a challenge. I bet few would notice. The front end would be a the true test of skill. As for the build.....that's a whole lot better looking than I expected.
  3. I have one in the waiting stack. Yours is a top notch build.
  4. I do hope that you have a favorite museum to donate this to. This is is very close to a Gerald Wingrove build.....Stunning.
  5. 6 hours one way.....
  6. I'm trying to buy a collection that's about six hours away. There's about 80 standard sized 1/25 models in it. Any good suggestions? I can't justify the drive.
  7. I remember JD.....this is a fitting tribute.
  8. It did have a stamped steel frame. The engine, tank, seat and side covers could be used. The forks and fenders would be a problem. Here's a good page on the Dream. http://soucycars.com/cars_for_sale/1965_honda_dream_305
  9. I keep looking at this kit and wonder how hard it would be to convert it into a Honda Dream.
  10. Resin body? AMT offered COTs but only offered Chevys. Or could it be a diecast?
  11. We're there already. I remember vending at a show (remember those?) and I was told my prices was too high because they could get it at HL for 40% off. HL is doing what WallyWorld did to the mom and pop stores in small towns to hobby shops in driving them out of business.
  12. The marbelizer is a great effect. Can you tell me more about it?
  13. Absolutely disgusting. Very realistic. I bet I'd be foolish enough to try to restore it. I did one similar but didn't have the fender rot. on the arches. The rust at the door is 100% accurate. On a side note, my '65 hood was aluminum so it wouldn't rust. Not sure about other years. This is a great kit to start with. Yours is a great build.
  14. Every time I look at this build, I'm impressed.
  15. I love it.....a creative invention when you're used to seeing one too many '32 Fords which all look alike except the paint.
  16. Be sure to model the rust eating through the body.
  17. Oh boy the one I have.....I'd like to get a hold of the Black Force.
  18. Use something light so it will photograph well. What I've seen, there is no reason to try to hide anything.
  19. Tim-tell us about the book. You've mentioned it more than once.
  20. Its only original once. I have to agree with David, if I had that money to put in a car, both my wife and I would be retired.
  21. I'm using the Brave browser.....no watermarks. Absolutely agree. I remember Car Craft did a feature on four Pro Stocks, Jenkins Vega, Dyno's Pinto, Wally Booth's Gremlin and I think S and M's Duster. They had mediocre drawings of the chassis. Pretty useless to learn anything real, which I'm sure was the team's intent.
  22. Here's a link to a great article on this car: https://nastyz28.com/threads/very-cool-article-of-grumpy-jenkins-grumpys-toy-x-vega.246343/
  23. Vega......Grumpy Vega. It will be interesting to see what creative builders do to make it more accurate.
  24. If you're ever near West Virginia, I'm going to have you come over and use my Sherline to prove it can be done. That starter is very impressive.
  25. I think SA was saddled with one issue that was printed but had very limited sales due to the shut down. Kambach may also have corporate guidelines for ROI which SA couldn't meet. The motive of the merger may have been taking two struggling magazines and combine into one stronger one sorta like Sears and K-Mart merging. Oh.....we saw how that went. The biggest thing going for MCM is the lack of competition when people are rediscovering the hobby. I fear for many of us, MCM is going to need to sell the first year as sample issues to prove its a viable magazine. Then ask those of us who buy the sample magazines to go to our hobby shops and convince them to stock it. WE ALL will have to put forth some effort to make it succeed. I do believe that a 44 page magazine could be digitally printed at a reasonable cost to make it break even for the sample issues. Only with advertisers who believe in it will it be able to be many more pages.
