If this was CNC, I'd be impressed with your drafting abilities and your skill converting those drawings to code. Knowing you do this freehand, I'm simply in awe. I think I have most of the tools although I have Sherline and I think you've got a variation of a Sieg but I don't pretend to think I'll ever perfect your talent.
The kits were always Monogram or Revell, before they merged. I used to think they were a Revell thing until I picked up a few Monogram collector's club kits.
I remember when Robbie died......a sad day.
He is one of those people where you wonder what might have been. I'd like to do his Crown Olds but have yet to find a good set of decals for it.
That's a beautiful piece. As for pulling away from the wall, with the obvious woodworking skills, I'm certain you've got it well anchored into the studs. A great piece and inspirational in design.
Nice build.....I just wish whoever thought of the Jimmy Durante blower scoop would had thought of something else, anything else than that blower design.
Interesting that now that NHRA has let Pro Stock to morph into Pro Mod/Injected, they brought back the carbureted cars to remind people what Pro Stock was.
Concerning parachutes, NHRA has been historically pretty strict on parachutes. If the car runs in a class with a 150 mph record, any car that runs that class needs a chute.
The line is either at the lower side or in the rear, opposite of the pedal. It is not exiting on the side of the pedal. That is a different design as shown on the most excellent Building the Snake Pit article.
I looked at the pictures again. Its a Palmer. I found pictures of a Palmer on line and the front and rear match plus the roof seam and the roll bar.
Strange as it seems, I'd still like it if its REALLY cheap.
Revell made two Mavericks. One a really bad funny car and the other a 1/32 kit. - Not those
MPC made one Maverick which was issued as the Mutli Maverick and the Warhorse. I'm fairly certain they used the same mold for the Jolly Rodger funny car. Not those
JoHan did a Maverick that was issued as a pro stock and a stock with funny car options.- Maybe the stock option although the tail lights are wrong. I also can't believe the builder would remove the window trim so neatly and then hack the rest of it.
AMT also did a release using the JoHan molds with a different hood. -that doesn't match the box art.
Otaki is shown as releasing a 1/25 Maverick. Maybe.
Either way, I'd love to have it. I have a project it would be perfect for.
I found these listed on eBay.....

Anyone tried them or have feedback?
