  1. I saw this at Indianapolis Raceway Park.....humid night. These amazing cars left vapor trails. May have been the best night of racing I've ever enjoyed.
  2. Shades of the 1960's show cars.....I love it!
  3. I would store them in a cool dry, climate controlled area. Excess heat and humidity would work against you. Don't store in an attic or unheated or hot garage.
  4. I am curious as to what the cost per car and per season it is for a season of either Aussie Supercars or DTM. I knew a driver's mother several years ago (he retired in 2002) and she told me he didn't want to go sell sponsors on a 7-12 million budget for a car that would typically run 10-20th in Cup. Recognize the expense now and how marquee drivers have to have multiple sponsors instead of one for the season. I do think the Supercars put on a good show, maybe better than Nascar. The question is, is it the cars or the track? Maybe we need more Rovals and less Charlotte and Charlotte clones.
  5. Nope....the challenge is finding the kit.
  6. Please.....NO!
  7. Is the Black Beauty wedge better than the Prudhomme Wedge? That was a kit I wanted for years, bought it and like many put the lid back on it and forgot it.
  8. I had a Chrysler Laser XT (a name plate Daytona) at the same time these were running. One of my favorite cars. I really should do the same thing.
  9. I truly love the 'Cuda.....wonder what would happen with that being done to a new Challenger?
  10. Those are great. Where was Tom Thumb Hobbies located? I lived in Philly the summer of 1981 and visited every hobby shop I could take SEPTA to. I was back in the early 1990's and was surprised at the number of shops that had closed. Of course now there's probably a third or less of the shops now as then.

    XR-6

I've got one of these in bits and pieces. I need to follow your lead and restore it. Whenever I think of it, I figure it will be re-released.
  12. It seems LSR replicas are made but not sold as kits. A few come to mind. The Blue Flame PPG car was released as a build up and it was rumored to be a future MPC kit, in the 1970's. There was an outstanding replica of the Breedlove Spirit of America available in very small quantities. If you're wanting other LSRs, look to smaller scales such as 1/43.
  13. What kind of cutter?
  14. This to me looks like a real race car, not a museum restoration. It definitely is not a toy model car......it is a replica. One of the best builds I've ever seen.
  15. I'll admit to wasting an hour or two watching them.
  16. I salute you doing an A/FC. It seems like that truly is a forgotten class.
  17. At least I got the H right. The point is still the same. Most cars in its eliminator were much higher up in the category. I've tried to find the records from the early 70's to find how much of a head start it often got. In many cases both cars would pre stage, the tree would count down for the Preperation H car (which ran on or below the record), and after the third bulb or later (full tree), the other lane would start counting down.
  18. I think the signs are repeated. Note the left and right signs above the people in the black and white photo. On the counter is a sign on each side of the crew for Fresh Ice Cold lemonade. The signs hanging from the ceiling shows Egg on a Bun, another sandwich fresh on a bun and the strawberry shortcake 15 cents. I would bet the signs alternated with two signs changing ever other sign.
  19. I remember that car. I think everyone hated to race it. As a H/G car it almost got a half track head start, or so it seemed. I wonder how many drivers red lighted against it.
  20. Bloody amazing work.
  21. Looking at the model piece I'd try back sanding it. Might be a lot easier and more true to scale.
  22. Our LHS has been open for curbside pick up which was allowed under our state orders.
  23. How did you reduce the windows....those are a great improvement.
  24. Daytonas had four lugs in 1984-5. In 1986 they gained five lugs. I owned a 1986......great car. I'd love to have another.
