  4. Hmmm. A cigar thingy. That actually makes sense and would account for the vent holes in the original armrest shot. Is this something you know about?
  5. I say that because I know that Rollses back then offered internal communications between the back seat and the chauffeur. Sort of like the voice line between upstairs and downstairs in a British mansion, on a ship of the line, or two tin cans on a string. This picture shows His Lordship's back seat microphone on a 1937 Phantom III, and other stuff that I'll add to my 1/16 Phantom III. I doubt that such a thing was used on an open car like a sedanca. Here's the backseat of Gurney-Nutting's 1933 Rolls Phantom II Continental (a sister car to the Pocher in this thread and the original source of Revell's 1/16 kit), which has some sort of button on the front of the armrest. To me, it looks like a reflector but I can't really tell.
  6. One feature I've seen in a lot of in my 30s RR research is the metal thingy on the front of the armrest (picture left), but I've never discovered what it is. All I can figure is that it's a speaker from the chauffeur's microphone in a closed car with glass separation.

  8. It looks exactly like a Lamborghini Aventador. It also looks exactly like the 1/8 Pocher Lamborghini Aventador. That's why I said you made an evil choice. That's why I stick with my vote of Model,
  9. Tom Daniel is the most famous kit designer ever if you're into customs and dragsters, which are not exactly in the mainstream. I say not by a long shot. It's of zero interest to me.
  10. All I would have done differently would have been to add the darker gray accent for contrast to the upper horizontal molding from front to rear. But this is still a great job and an example of how nice these early Monogram classics are, and with pretty nice plastic wire wheels for the scale.
  11. Great job with incredible seat work. Since the car has left-hand drive, it would appear to be an American version, so whitewalls are very appropriate. Also, the engine has a correct reverse, mirror-image configuration of the RHD British version. I would assume this is Monogram's phaeton version of their Henley roadster.
  12. What a shame. It's getting so you can't tell one supercar from another, just like the pedestrian world sedans.
  13. Beautiful! Just right. Gold is one of the toughest color to get right on a model and you nailed it.
  14. Originality seems to relate mostly to customs, not my thing. You can use originality to apply innovative solutions to stock builds, however.

  17. As Harry said, the majority of 1/16 classics have been issued under a multitude of labels, each of which is the same kit. If it's 1/16 -- except for Aurora brass era cars which are all curbside, such as Stutz Bearcat and Mercer Raceabout, plus Lindberg classic racers -- they're all the same. It's too wearying to describe the lineage of these kits because they are so much the same except for the presence or absence of chrome parts under some labels, but it's a dizzying array. These have been issued by Gunze Sangyo, Entex, Academy (Korean), Minicraft, Revell, Anmark, Fuman/Bandai and maybe a few others. Under all those labels, these are all the same 1/16 models (I have left out Ford Model A, some brass cars, Packard and Cadillac kits because I'm not familiar with them). Minicraft seems to be the most current purveyor of most of them. Mercer raceabout Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost 1927-28 Mercedes SS 1936 Mercedes 540K 1937 Rolls-Royce Phantom III Sports Saloon Rolls-Royce Phantom II Continental (Revell only) Jaguar SS 100 Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing (Not Italeri, which is the same as their roadster) MG TC There are others like the Dueseneberg SJ Boattail and Hispano Alfonso that are one brand only.
  18. Seems like you're actually making good progress. I have the Entex boxing of the kit, which has nicely chromed wheels, but I think your spray chrome will look more realistic.
  19. Start again? Those seats look exactly like the real thing, and better than other Pocher seats that I have ever seen. Unbelievable.
  20. In 2015, there is NO reason to make a buying decision based on box art when you can find images of a built kit online, where you can analyze it to your heart's content.
  21. Looking excellent, though perhaps the exhaust manifold might look a bit more bronzed.
  22. How has your experience with your superb 1/8 Pocher 540k affected this build? Did it help to make this better, or has it decreased your satisfaction with building at half the scale and a fraction of the detail?
  23. HUH? Revell DID defraud people with a 1:1 picture. Go back and look at my post. I bought the kit at over $100 based on that fraudulent Revell 1:1 box art.
  24. This is the original box art for the 1:12 Ferrari 275 GTB by Renwal. IT IS TOTALLY ACCURATE TO WHAT'S IN THE BOX, and anyone who knows the car can tell you what's wrong with it. This is the much later box art from the Revell re-boxing of the same kit, and anyone who knows the kit can tell you that there is nothing in the box that is anywhere near to the misleading picture. This is Revell's re-boxing with a 1:1 shot, which bears zero resemblance to what's in the box.
