This kit is different than the first issue IIRC....isn't it a different engine??
-
I left out the axle blocks IIRC.....thx

Very nice work!!! I like those kits warts and all........ I've built the Pontiac and Cadillac and pulled a unbuilt Buick from the stash last night. EZ quick builds. The Caddy is my favorite.....hate the reissue is so $$$$$$$....original kit built as a movie car

Walthers N

I agree HO has it made.....I was in HO before going O in 1993. Structures are what I miss from my HO days. Have you checked out some of the 3D printd structures for N scale??? Some WILD stuff soming out in that format.....about perfect for 3D printing.....and pretty cheap too.....some less than Walthers kits. The good thing in O is paper works well.....and is big enough for my failing hands to still build.....and cheap! -

N and HO model train guys have it good in the structure department. I wish O had 1/10 of kits you guys have. O has some great kits but many are 'craftsman' kits with some crossing the $200-300 price line. This Downtown Deco kit was bought 2nd hand because it had a broken wall but was still $40. -
Think of that guy in 25 years that is into model cars........the collections yr'll have!!!

Change is the only constant. Nothing I did or had in 1962 is the exact same today. The manufactures are doing, in my opinion, a great job in a market that is gone from common place to an extreme niche product. In 1962 my buddy and I could walk 4 blocks to where a cluster of stores were. The first step was the local owned drug store. They always had maybe 45 kits on hand along with some glue and paints. Next stop was the grocery store and while not as many kits as the drug store they still had 20 kits or so. Our next stop the hardware store. Again maybe 25 kits, paint and glue. If we had not spent our $2 yet we'd walk a bit more to the auto parts store who always had 15=20 kits on hand. In our area within 2 miles there were maybe 10 more places that sold model......discount stores, May company and Jack's Hobby. Today I drive 2.5 hours to the only place that sells models, paint and glues etc. Do the math. In the entire region I can count on one hand....really one finger that retails model kits. So the fact we can still buy kits is a pretty good deal. Even as recent as the Dukes of Hazzard kit sold in the millions......today 8K of a new kit is a hit! And R2 tooled a NEW DoH kit to have it's legs cut out by the PC Police. So I side with the manufactures. I'd be great to get kids into the hobby.....but $1000 iPhones, Drones and video games....it ain't gonna happen on a large scale. My grandkids will build a few.....but getting them will not boost the masses. Enjoy it while we have it. It will outlive most of us.

My first thought..........but a super built as usual.......

I've done the art for over 300 of my own decals and the art for many kits and aftermarket. My number one fear is to have something go to print with any error......a mis-spell is the worse. No excuse for this one........spell check is your friend!

Well done...have the kit..yet to start...

New Flea-bay Trend?
Dave Van replied to Warren D's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If you sell you know postal rates have gone through the roof!!!! I sell a lot of decals. A 6 x 9 envelope cost $1 to send 5 years ago.....now $3+ to get the ebay required tracking. Kit shipping is even higher. I went from always having 30+ listings to ZERO...part due to postage....part due to the huge chunk ebay and paypal take. -

Self-Quaranteen and Build Models!

Worked for me!!!! Last year I got pretty sick and had to stay home from May to Nov.......at first I was really bummed as I had a number of 1/1 car shows planned. But I figured I build models as I could do that. Built more in 2019 than in many years!!! So make the best of it...real or not!!! My 20 builds from 2019 https://public.fotki.com/DaveVan51/model-builds-2019/ -
Agreed.....Atlantis is running what is ready to go. The 'Everything is go' Mercury display was run by Revell a few years ago and thus was in good shape and complete. I am sure that Atlantis has a few tools that are incomplete. Salvinos had to tool Clear parts and tires for some of the RM tools they got. So the tooling was a bit of a mess.......Atlantis needs some ROI before they start tooling missing or damaged inserts. I've contacted Atlantis with some suggestions I hope we see again. The big Tom Daniel trike kit is a big step.
-
Salvinos has ex Revell tooling too.......No one that has the facts has a exact list of what Atlantis or Salvinos got.......lots of guesses.

Sorry about that....had an issue and forgot I locked it....open now!! Thanks

IIRC Tamiya Park Green......
