Your updates are very effective in making your Deuce more accurate

I just came across this thread which got me thinking back to my three 49 Mercury builds. This AMT 49 got me back into the hobby in 1994. It was inspired by the first really cool car I ever saw cruising by as I walked home from school. It was actually a 4-door 51 Mercury painted purple. I was told it had a Thunderbird engine. I chopped the top and used corduroy for upholstery like I did when I was a kid. I got this AMT kit in a Secret Santa draw and built it pretty much box stock as a replica of the car driven by the James Dean character in the movie Rebel Without a Cause. I built this replica of the Sam Barris Merc from the Revell kit. I was blown away when the guy who installed disc brakes on my 65 Falcon unveiled the car he had been working on for 10 years maybe one of the nicest 49 Merc customs I have ever seen.

Very attractive Mustang. The color reminds of the light green first offered on the 67 Mustangs. My parents bought a 67 notchback in that shade. I didn't really care for it back then but it would be my first choice now !!

Thanks Michael for starting this. I just picked up my kit today. Once I finish a previously started Deuce 5W I am going to build a tribute to a local car I like very much.

It is great that the the reissued Deuce Sedan has generated to much interest and discussion. I just picked mine up at the local hobby shop here in Victoria BC Canada. The price was $42.99 Canadian plus 12% tax which works out to about $35US tax in. I previously built two models from the original issue both self chopped. This new issue I will be building pretty much out of the box as a tribute to a local car I like very much. There are a number of very nice Deuce Sedans in Victoria and near by. Most are unchopped and full fendered.

Fantastic looking Eagle. Makes me want to build mine. -

Very good looking Cabriolet. I really like your color combinations. What paint did you use for the main body? I have been looking for that shade. -

Very attractive and well built -
Thanks Helmut. I only saw Dan race once at the 1967 Canadian Grand Prix but followed his racing career and race teams closely. I finally got to meet him in 2006 at his All American Racers facility.

Thanks everyone. I still have nine want to build Dan Gurney related models on my list.

Thanks very much. I have been a Dan Gurney fan forever. I have a special spot in a display cabinet for models I have built of Dan's cars and a tribute to him on the door to my hobby room.

I really enjoyed seeing the 599 with the 250. Two very nice models of two very nice Ferraris.

Dan Gurney’s son Justin had Ford build a special version of the most recent Ford GT to honour his father. Unfortunately, Dan passed away before it was delivered so he never got a chance to see it or drive it. Although a Gurney roof bubble was considered it would not work with this design but because it is the largest of all Ford GTs Dan would have easily fit this car. This was a very straightforward, virtually box-stock build of the excellent Tamiya kit. It was painted with Tamiya spray paint without any polishing or clear. The only changes I made were using real mesh for the six small rear vents rather than the provided decal over clear plastic kit solution and the added decals for Dan’s Heritage livery. Dan’s wife got him a 2005 Ford GT for his birthday with a Gurney bump over the driver’s seat. I have heard these second-generation Ford GTs were very driver friendly cars and Dan drove it frequently. This model was built from the Polar Lights pre-decorated snap kit to which I added a Gurney bump. My 1967 Le Mans winning Ford GT40 MKIV was built from the MPC kit. I was inspired to put this quartet of Ford GTs together while building the replica of the Fujimi Mercury GT40 MKII Dan shared with AJ Foyt at Daytona 1967 where it did not finish. This is the same car Dan put on the pole at Le Mans 1966. JUSTIN GURNEY HONORS DAD’S LEGACY WITH FORD GT DUO IN FAMILY’S GARAGE

You did a wonderful job on your build of one of the most attractive F1 cars of all time. I bought a 1/43 diecast as soon as it became available and still have it. Cannot forget Michael Schumacher making his F! debut in this car. -
Utterly magnificent. BRAVO !!

Very well integrated hot rod. Every component is so appropriate. The sum of the parts work perfectly together.

Thank you very much. I have made arrangements with the Jaguar Car Club of Victoria to auction off the model at their event in July which is the largest gathering of Jaguars in North America. Proceeds will go the the Victoria Hospice.

I'd love to go for a drive in this one !! As always great model - great photos. I just looked at photos of the "real" real car. You nailed it.

Early 50's Road/Race Special (Ficticious)
Phildaupho replied to Dave B's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
I really like your road race special. I was at the Monterey Historics one year when specials were featured there and at Pebble Beach. I even helped out in the paddock at the Stovebolt Special HWM Chev. I also wanted to build a special myself but never found the right donor kit as a starting point. -
Nicely built. I remember being blown away when the Monster Coach appeared on the TV show.

Nice to see a well done but not often seen Square Bird
