  1. A beautifully rendered classic hot rod! David G.
  2. It does indeed look like a frog ready to spring! Excellent detail work and paint! Good job as far as I'm concerned. David G.
  3. Hello Everybody! I've officially moved this build to completed status and have created a topic in the "Under Glass" section. Here is a link. A sincere thanks to all of you who followed along and supported me through this build, I appreciate your support and comments. David G.
  4. Hello Everybody! This is the Mummy Machine by AMT-ERTL and MPC at least according to the logo cast on the bottom of the body tub. Originally released in (I think) 1972, I first encountered this kit around 1975. So yeah, this is another nostalgia build in which I try to recapture my youth. I don't believe that I ever completed building it as I can remember having the mummy head and other various bits around for years afterward. Believe it or not, there was an actual Mummy Machine show car created by Jack Kampney in the early Seventies. I'm still not entirely certain whether the show car or the model kit came first as the earliest print references to the actual car I can find are from 1975 and the model kit was first released in 1972. Here's my rendition of the kit. This kit is quite good at capturing the whimsical over-the-top style of the Show Rods popular during the Sixties and Seventies. I came to think of it as "Delightfully Ridiculous." Golden sphynxes or "fender puppies" as I came to think of them, adorn the running boards. A close up shot of the death mask radiator with cartouche covered scarab "headlights". I can't imagine that the radiator would allow much air flow for cooling. This image also some of the detail painting on the mummy hands. That's all for now. For those who may be interested, I made a build thread in the WIP section. Here is a link As always, thanks for taking the time to look. Comments and critiques are always welcome. David G.
  5. Hello Everybody! I got called for jury duty so I ended up with a week's "vacation" from my regular life with obviously, not much bench time. So here's a teaser update while I edit the final photos for publication... hopefully tomorrow. This is the finishing touch I hinted at earlier for the bottom pyramid cover plate- a golden scarab! I found these online, they come in packages of six and only cost a few dollars. I think it completes the bottom of the chassis quite nicely. I plan to create an under glass topic tomorrow for this build. Until then, thanks for taking a look and please feel free to post a comment or two. David G.
  6. Hello Everybody! I managed to get the head glued to the body barge with the tongue in the proper position. I had to heat and bend the cobra gearshift to get it look the way I wanted. I managed to finish this one up yesterday. All I have to do now is take and edit the final photos so I can post them in the Under Glass section. Thanks to everybody who followed along and commented. Your compliments, critiques and encouragement mean a lot to me. David G.

  11. I built one of these a few years ago, box-stock. It's probably my least favorite Batmobile but I gave it all the attention I give to all my builds and I think it turned out rather well. It goes without saying that I'm very interested to see what you do with yours. I do like what you've done so far. David G.

  16. Hello Everybody! I feel like I'm in the home stretch with this one, just cross-checking all the final details. Cobras! There are four. Two are to be mounted to the area between the engine and running board. One is to be used as a gearshift and one is supposed to be used in place of the upper radiator hose. We'll have to see how the last one works out. After assembling the three body-mounted cobras, they needed a little filling and smoothing. Multiple applications of CA with some filing and shaping in between each application is the way to get that done. Here's the result. I have to say, I'm really pleased with the way the Rustoleum metallic gold looks. That's all for now. As always, thanks for looking and please feel free to comment. David G.
