Tri 5 Chevys
Old Buckaroo replied to Kenmojr's topic in 1:1 Reference Photos: Auto Shows, Personal vehicles (Cars and Trucks)
I made reference to this car down in the "What is your NUMBER 1 favorite movie car" thread in off topic lounge - This is the '55 I bought 30 some years later after watching "American Graffiti" when I was in JR High. I found it on Racing Junk dot com , an ex drag car that had been parked in 1970. Those are still the original tubed Drag 500's it was sporting when found. The last pic is of my wife and self, It still shows up ever so often to promote a car show in Eastern Washington. I told my wife we are forever young with those posters! -

That is a great backstory - I'm sure there has been a lot of laughs with this skull.

My first Promo ever, I had been looking for a Monza kit to build into Grumpy's "Toy XII"and none were very reasonable. Found a 1975 Monza Promo for the project. It was dirty and needed a good cleaning. The glass surprisingly had less scratches than some kits out of the box (pre bag days)

That is pretty awesome - wow what an engine for that Poncho!!
-
Those are some really nice decals - unfortunately I'm not a fb user. The Cuda or Duster ones would be close enough for me with the gold name and Plymouth lettering.

That is quite a variety, I love that GTO !!

That was my line of work building and working on large mine equipment. Just like a model but in bigger scale - parts showed up on about 6 to 8 semis, and cranes were used to move and lift pieces in place . The 3600 was the "baby shovel" on that place. The 5500 made it look like mini track hoe!

Bill - That is a nice Christmas haul! Back in my early 20's I worked at a body shop and the owner always wore T-shirts that said "Flatheads Forever" he had one for every day of the week. Everyone referred to the place as "ole Flatheads" even though the name was Terry's Bodyshop.

I really like this ! Beautiful paint on the car. That is a high class shop there with wooden floors, from a lot of pictures I seen of "repair shops" back then they had dirt floors and a suspicious looking pot belly stove in the corner.

Love the chassis and wheels - looks really sharp. Glad to see this one back to the surface ! I remember this build way back when I was a regular poster before a long vacation of lousy to no internet. Seeing this makes me happy ! And photo bucket screwed up a lot of valuable information and tutorials on many modeling forums. 😞

I really like this - I never knew what one of these kits looked like out of the box. You've done a great job on this all the way around !! 👍
-
Stunning is all I can think of, man that looks nice and it looks flawless. Lil John Buttera was one of my early influences, looked so forward to his articles in the hot rod magazines of the early 80's. (I need one of these kits)

No that's a sweet looking Poncho , did you scratch build the Tach. ?

DAVE LYALL’S 1970 FORD GOING THING PRO STOCK MUSTANG
Old Buckaroo replied to M W Elky's topic in Drag Racing
Very nice looking representation of Lyall's Mustang I'm pretty partial to those "4 speed years" myself. -
Now that is a really cool and clean build up - the first pic is Wow! I had one of these kits at one time but never fooled with it. Seeing yours makes me wish I still had it.

Mine would be to actually place all the parts, decals and kits for planned projects in one box and put peel off labels on such boxes labeling them for example "California Flash Camaro" instead of the box of wheels, decals and resin parts all in their own areas. That way I'm not wondering - "now why did I acquire this kit"??
-
Love that blue paint and your busy bench.
-
Bill - I'm wanting to build the '71 Roadrunner as first choice, 72 Cuda would be second. Have kits to do either. Thanks for checking..
-
Thanks - I had seen that and almost bought it thinking maybe I could paint over the Name with gold paint - but I don't think my hand is that steady anymore ( for the last 30 years to be truthful)

Ive got a set from the AMT offering if those will work for you.

Kenworth Alaskan
Old Buckaroo replied to The Brush's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Most excellent build and even more bonus points that its rebuilt! I like that you added the icicles and frosted windows. Now we know why the original kit came with the propane bottles! -
I feel you pain - There is a radio station that plays "oldies" on Saturday morning. The music is great - makes you feel like your in "American Graffiti" problem is the host likes to hear himself talk. Talks through the songs about his memories or whatever sometimes even sings with them.
