  1. I know what you are going through, I tore my rotator cuff in my right shoulder in April and had surgery on it in the end of August. After almost 6 weeks in a sling and ongoing physical therapy since October, everything is slowly getting a little back to normal but I may be off work until spring comes too. It will take time, but you'll be back to the bench soon and just take it easy, because even though you will feel like it's taking forever to do even simple things you'll start seeing the slow improvements also.
  2. Oh, that must be when these were first issued!
  3. While I would like to see a modern flatbed also, I DON'T want to see it offered with super singles! I won't drive a truck with them on and I don't want them on my builds either.
  4. If you would want to do a closer version of the BJ and the Bear rig like the original here owned by Paul Sagehorn, the Revell Aerodyne would save you a lot of cutting and modifying to the Papa Truck frame. If you want a close to correct trailer, the AMT Freuhauf beaded van trailer is close to the trailer, which was a Brown if I remember correctly. The rig in the picture is a real BJ and the Bear truck and trailer that has been restored. The owner Paul also has a restored "Movin On" Kenworth and actually used it to pick this one up from where it was hiding in the woods of Georgia. As for the length, just going by my pic and not digging the shorter frame out of the parts box, it looks like the two frames are maybe only about a 1/2 inch different. By the way, the frame length isn't the only thing custom for my BJ and the Bear inspired rig! These are the stacks it will have along with a rough mock up of the intake stacks to let this big beast that will be hiding under the cab breathe!! You're welcome, and that is going to be a long beast!
  5. At one time I had four cats, though only one ever really ventured into the area of the living room I had as a model area. One was older and was my girlfriend at time and really could care less if it didn't involve her blanket, the other three were kittens we had rescued, and the boys didn't venture around the models because they were trained not to go near my model desk with the aid of a squirt bottle filled with water and they knew model desk = a squirt. My little girl Libby was a little more hard headed though, because while she was trained the same way as the others with a little squirt of water to the head the way the others were when any of them crossed the "boundary", she liked to push her boundary a little farther. She was always back near my desk when I would be there. Libby never really laid in any model boxes, but would lay on them and my tool box too! This is one of my favorite pictures of Libby. My desk was just inside the front door of the little house my ex and I rented, and the floor was built up about three feet above the level of the doorway and my desk was at the edge of that. My camera was always on the desk, and coming home from shopping one night I came through the door to see this: I very slowly grabbed the camera so she wouldn't think she was in trouble, because even though she knew she wasn't supposed to be this close to the model desk, she just looked so cute!
  6. While it may be the Aerodyne version that is basically the same as this flattop from Revell, in a way, whether the AMT Aerodyne has been reissued or not, it is still on the shelves. The reason I say that the old AMT Aerodyne is basically on the shelves now is that the Papa Truck is the same kit, just with a slightly longer frame for the hauler bed. The painted frame in the pic is from the AMT Aerodyne, and the white frame rail beside it is from the Papa Truck. The advantage of the AMT is if you like the longer frame look like I do, either the regular Aerodyne or the Papa Truck (though you have to get a parts box fifth wheel) does give that. The frist pic is a Moebius 53 on the older AMT Aerodyne and the second is with the Papa Truck frame.
  7. A head's up for the American fans just in case you hadn't seen, the Weather Channel is beginning to air new episodes tonight (Sunday 12/10) starting at 8 PM eastern. I believe these "NEW" episodes are actually season 5 that have been available on Netflix for almost a year because the info for these shows in my cable's guide listings are showing them as season 5 episodes.
  8. Even though the Ford Econoline may be the most popular for ambulance use here in the states, they aren't the only ambulances in service. Anything that can be fleet ordered as a chassis cab can be an ambulance, and here are just a few examples, and many I would like to see offered in kit form. Ford Econoline Chassis Cab Chevy/GMC van Chassis Cab Ram Truck Chassis Cab Ford Super Duty Chassis Cab Chevy/GMC Medium Duty Chassis Cab (I believe the Chevy may still be the Topkick and the GMC the Kodiak) The International Durastar Medium Duty Chassis Cab Freightliner FL Series Business Class Medium Duty Chassis Cab
  9. At least that's not as bad as voting for yourself, as I noticed a few did when I voted in the voting thread.
  10. It's just not with "O" and "HO" scale, but "G" scale could be the one with the largest variation because I have seen it listed all the way from 1/22.5th scale all the way to 1/32nd scale. Even though it all runs on the same track, just look under the "Global Manufacturers and their scale product sizes" section of this from Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G_scale
  11. Thank you Mark and the 1/16th scale KW is actually my second of those, I got the Aerodyne sleeper version when they were reissued a couple years ago. The Aerodyne version and also the Firebird wagon had been "Holy Grails" for nearly 20 years after I had lost originals in a house fire in 1997, as the 1/16th scale flatbed has been as well. I really only wanted the flatbed, but the friend that was selling them was selling them as a group, but I have a plan for the flat top already that includes a green paint job. The wagon was actually the third I bought from the same friend, in the past couple months I've also gotten a factory sealed and a rebuilder from him, and the one here was open but complete and sealed inside. It's actually on its way to CO for an online friend that knew I was looking for another rare Firebird kit and he found one for me and he needed this for his Firebird/Trans Am collection so I bought this one for him. I'll keep my eyes open for you, my friend that I bought all these from buys and sells collections through a live auction group on Facebook, and sometimes as you can see he has some wonderful gems and usually for great prices!
  12. It's amazing how often people ask for advice/help/info then react aggressively when they don't get EXACTLY the answer they want, how they want to hear it, in a form that doesn't get their undies in a twist.
  13. Even though I think I'm far from it, I guess that makes me a "poor rivet counter" because I prefer to build stock vehicles.
  14. Though I don't have a dog in whatever fight is going on, I do have a dog in the fight about the accusations that PO Boxes are typically used by scammers. Unlike a couple others that have posted that their ONLY option to receive mail or packages are PO Boxes, I DO have a street address AND a PO Box. WHY??? I prefer my packages to be delivered where I KNOW THEY WILL BE SAFE AND NOT SPROUT LEGS AND WALK AWAY!! If you didn't know, those boxes cost money to have, and I pay $76 a year for the small insurance to know my packages will be safe until I pick them up and not sitting out in the weather to get rained or snowed on if I'm not home when they are delivered, because I have much more to do in life than sit around and wait for the mailman to knock on my door.
  15. In my opinion, that is not as bad as the vague "Part Needed" or "Looking For" titles for threads. If you don't have the time to specify in the title what you are looking for such as "Windshield needed for 29 Miniwheat" or "Need a steering wheel for 1839 Pizzamobile", I don't have the time to read the post to see what you really need.
  16. At least in my opinion and all that opinion has to please is me, there is no such thing as a "right" scale! It doesn't matter what scale something is, if it is a subject I like, it's going to find its way to my stash, and in some cases I have versions of the same subject in 2, 3, or even 4 scales! Also, F1 cars aren't quite that tiny in 1/24th scale. Of course, yes they are smaller, but not by as much as one would think. These Ferrari F310Bs are a perfect example, the Revell AG kit is 1/24th and the Tamyia on the right is 1/20th. While the 1/20th scale kits do require a slightly larger box, at least when it comes to the Lindberg 1/20th scale kit boxes compared to Revell's boxes 1/24th and 1/25th scale boxes, there isn't very much of a difference. Obviously by the pic, the box for the 1/20th is a little longer in length compared to the boxes next to it, but depth and height it is nearly identical to the Revell boxes. Also in the pic above with the F1 cars, it's quite ironic that the Tamyia 1/20th scale box is quite a bit smaller than the one for the 1/24th scale version of the same car!
  17. I don't know what is making them visible to you, but I just checked two of my threads and all of the pics there are the "3rd party" sign of death.
  18. I love when the mailman brings me orphan kits!
  19. You might want to upload the pictures through here instead.
  20. The only thing I'm finding so far anyway that is more of a nuisance than an issue is the disappearance of the "Back to Top" arrow that appeared as you scrolled down the screen.
  21. Ok, unless I've missed something recently, the only Revell Freightliner at least recently offered was this 1/32 scale. The only others are the Revell of Germany reboxes of the Italeri Freightliner kits. If it was the FLD 120 or the FLC you bought your step son and not the 1/32nd scale, as Jim said Revell did do a container trailer and it was also offered by Testors many years ago, and they are also reboxes of Italeri's container trailer. Also, as Jim stated, that trailer is done as a European frame with a very deeply set fifth wheel pin and a spread axle but it can be modified to a US spec trailer. This is one I did many years ago and converted to a US style frame by cutting the front axle off the frame and moving it back, moving the kingpin forward, and also using some spare parts box spoked wheels. The only thing I forgot to modify was to move the landing legs forward somewhat. As for Moebius' 53 footers, they aren't containers because a container lifts from the trailer chassis and just the box portion is loaded on a ship or rail car, they are commonly called box trailers by drivers. Anyway no matter what you want to call them , they do build up quite nicely and are well worth the price. Here are a couple that I have on a couple in progress builds.
  22. How in the BLEEP can you say Matt Kenseth had a better season that Chase Elliott just because Matt had a win and Chase didn't?? Did you forget Matt's only win this season came AFTER the "chase playoff" had begun and was down to the final race of the round of 8 to determine the Championship 4?? The only thing in the "Chase" world Matt Kenseth's win had ANY EFFECT on was preventing Chase Elliott making the Championship 4, so at least in the REAL world where it comes down to POINTS EARNED DURING THE SEASON, just the plain and simple FACT Chase Elliott WAS STILL IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP CHASE and Matt Kenseth WAS OUT OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP CHASE AFTER THE ROUND OF 12 is PROOF CHASE ELLIOTT HAD A BETTER SEASON, WIN OR NOT!!!! Also, regardless of the "chase" or not, points are the determining FACT of the season, and since Chase Elliott finished the season 5th in points and Matt Kenseth finished 7th in points so it's pretty obvious to me who had a better season.
  23. Since I got dragged through the dirt asking about a semi in the new Moebius announcements in the "car" section, if you don't like us big rig builders bringing up trucks in the "TRUCK" section then why don't you get the moderators to move the pickups and SUV junk cluttering up the section that should only be for heavy commercial vehicles BACK to the "CAR" sections where light duty junk belongs!!
  24. My opinion is that judges should NEVER touch a build! If they need to see something that badly (or value the use of their fingers) that it requires the build to be touched, they can find the builder and have the builder do it.
