When I was in Charlotte seven years ago, I didn't have time to eat as I was there on business and it cost me a lot.I flew in, hopped a cab, conducted business, got a ride back to the airport and hopped on a plane to Cleveland and then a connecting flight to Milwaukee. It was a long day.

revell 4Q2016 Release Annoucement
High octane replied to Exotics_Builder's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
While I just picked up the new Revell release of the '30 Model A Coupe yesterday, it may be the only Revell kit I buy this year. Seems like nothing else "floats my boat," not even the Bronco. -
Round2 July 2016 Announcements
High octane replied to Exotics_Builder's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I built my El Camino from the Soap Box Derby kit in the early 80's, however I have no idea what I did with the derby car and I probably "tossed" the box -

They do look great as I may have a set somewhere in my stash also. -
Revell '30 Model A coupe w/inline 6 - final update 7/24
High octane replied to Jantrix's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Lookin; very good so far Rob, as I just picked up one of those kits today. However I'm currently on 6 month hiatus from model building. I have some old Wizzz magazines that I may use for references if and when I start my kit. -
Very nice re-build Tony, and great color choice also.

I drove to "cheeseland" today and had a "sneak peek" at the new Portillo's in Brookfield. They also gave me a FREE lunch and a t-shirt. This event was by invitation only. They will "officially" open next Tuesday on July 19th. Great food as always. I also stopped at the Model Empire and picked up the new Revell '30 Ford Model A Coupe kit, and also the latest issue of Model Cars Magazine as well.

Water spots on final color coat
High octane replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
After the first coat of primer goes on, I NEVER wash the body anymore. Never. I do use a tack rag before painting the color coats, and also before applying the clear coats 24 hours later. -

I'm sure glad that I have my wife to take care of ALL my computer problems, otherwise this "laptop" would've been out the window more than once.

Modelhaus going, going Gone !!!!!!
High octane replied to WoodyRDC's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Well if no one buys the business from Don & Carol, I can see it going by the wayside just like JoHan with kits and parts NEVER to be produced again. it wouldn't surprise me one bit. -
While I don't know for sure, it seems like most of all the "can't miss" hobbyshops have gone by the wayside. Of course if you'd like to drive to southern Wisconsin, the Model Empire is a can't miss hobby shop and I'll be goin' there this week myself.

Compliments on posted models
High octane replied to Repstock's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Good points Harry, all of them. -
While I've never ordered anything from Perry's Resin, I have bought his stuff from another vendor at Toledo several years back. From what I'm hearing, it seems like Perry's is going by way of Reliable Resin, and I myself would definitely not order anything from him. As far as I know, there are NO resin casters out there that offer anything that I cannot live without.

Modelhaus going, going Gone !!!!!!
High octane replied to WoodyRDC's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Your right about respecting Don & Carol as they deserve that and more. I haven't placed any last orders with Modelhaus, as I have enough kits and parts without adding more to the "pile." I'm also getting tired of trading ca$h for plastic & resin just to take up more room, as I'm not a person who starts or finishes a lot of builds every year. In fact I'm currently on a 6 month hiatus and hopefully I'll get back to building this fall. -
Protect clear coat from dust
High octane replied to CarLover's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I just set my model that's on the paint stand on a shelf, and have had no problems. Of course you could have a "clean room" built with HEPA filters, wear a clean suit complete with mask and gloves and hope that no dust gets on your model. -
Tamiya paint reviews
High octane replied to BruceTheTruckingCat's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I'm a "rattle can man" and use Tamiya spray cans as well as Black Gold, Testors, Dupli-Color, and MCW. I like 'em all. I would definitely use Tamiya paints. -

Golden Years also known as "the rusty years." My uncle used to say that getting old is like an old car, as your parts start wearing out. Looks like there's some truth to that.

Sorry ti hear of your loss Tony. Condolences to you and your family.

NHRA Museum Models
High octane replied to Marc Weller's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I was hopin' to get to the NHRA Museum this year as I'll be out that way, except my better half booked us non-stop flights, and no stop in L.A. Oh well.
