O.K. Now I'm starting to worry. Three quarters of the way through October and issue 209 still hasn't shown up here. I blame the post office but 2 months is getting rather ridiculous. Hopefully it shows up soon.

William Shatner to take off into space at 1000
peter31a replied to SfanGoch's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
If the human race keeps expanding and more and more we use up earth’s resources, we’ll have to look to space for resources to keep this planet going. While all this looks like expensive fun, hopefully one day it will lead to an ability to keep this planet and her people going. As Captain Kirk used to say “Space, the final frontier”. Welcome back to Earth, Captain. -
So sorry to hear this news. Just know him from the board, (although we probably crossed paths at NNL East without knowing it), but always appreciated his contributions here. Condolences to his family and friends.

Don’t worry not here in central Ontario either.

What did you see on the road today?
peter31a replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Bill, I suspect you could get in the car. It’s the getting out that would be the challenge! ? -
I wanna grow up and be a weatherperson.......
peter31a replied to HomerS's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Yes, I've said the same thing many times. The one that stands out in my mind was about 10 years ago. We were having a lawn sale and the weatherman at the local t.v. station said absolutely no rain in the forecast for Saturday. Dry, dry, dry. The local radio station said the same thing. The weather network said the same thing. So, of course, I didn't bother digging any tarps out to cover stuff in case of rain. About an hour into to the sale, the skies got dark and it started to rain. I thought it must just be a quick cloud burst because there was no chance of rain. But it kept raining so there was a mad scramble to find tarps. It ended up raining for over 2+ hours! How can you get it that wrong? -
Ordering from Hobbylinc.com
peter31a replied to plasticprime's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The op asked about hobbylinc which is an American company. If he meant hobby link japan, it is not clear as he’s used the spelling for the American shop. -
Received my copy today in central Ontario, Canada. Probably had arrived Thursday or Friday but haven’t checked the community mailbox in a couple of days due to inclement weather. Took a quick look through it. Seems like a real spiffy issue.

Well, he was driving a loaner from Hyundai. He was commentator at a golf tournament being presented by Genesis (high end Hyundai) and had use of the vehicle. I'm sure the company was willing to co-operate with investigators to find out why one of their brand new cars went flying off into the trees.

1982 Chevrolet Camaro Z28-E (overseas version) - Arii 1/24 scale
peter31a replied to Tommy124's topic in Model Cars
Very sharp Camaro! Matches the advertisement quite well. -
In my area of Ontario, Canada they are just starting on the 80 - 84 year olds. At 60 - 64 age group I’m looking at another couple of months before I have any hope of seeing my first shot. And since none of the vaccines are made in Canada and now some countries insisting the manufacturers keep the vaccine in country and not honour contracts it could be well into summer before I can get even one shot. Oh well, it’ll come when it comes....

So Danno, you have a thing about bar codes? ?

Unfortunately the illustration for the 57 Cadillac makes it look like someone stole the driver’s side wheels and tires.

Herbie the Love Bug?
peter31a replied to Oldcarfan27's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Revell did produce a Herbie kit way back in the day. Rare to find these days and I don't know how accurate it was. -
Round 2 purchased by an investment firm
peter31a replied to charger74's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I guess one of the reasons I'm sceptical is that we just lost Squadron. The way I heard it explained is that they were bought out by an investment company who put their own manager in the place, who didn't know the model hobby industry, didn't really care about and slowly but surely managed to run it into the ground. As long as Tom Lowe is around I have hope but if we hear he has left, I'd be worried. I'm also a little concerned when there is mention in the statement about the collectibles industry. I know this is a large part of Round 2's business but as a model builder when hobby industry or model industry isn't mentioned, I kind of second the uh oh..... Are we going to favour collecting over building? Anyway we shall see. It's quite the big news for our hobby. -
Michaels here in Ontario, Canada used to have 40, 45, 50% off coupons on a regular basis. Since the pandemic hit they’ve been only 30% for months now.

Do you mean Morgan Automotive Detail? If so check car aftermarket section. There is a thread there and Kris has responded recently to a question there.

Lots of Volkswageny goodness there. Eagerly anticipating the T2 and T2 Camper. And some cool reissues of other early VW Transporters. Cool!
