For those who mourn the loss of Scale Auto there is a new model car magazine out. A friend sent me a copy. The title Is Auto Modeler and the website is https://www.AutoModelerMag.com .

In addition any paint claiming it's primer and paint usually means the solvent is really hot and will destroy styrene. Second if the goal is to save money it's worth gett8ng an airbrush. A pasche single act8on airbrush and compressor package is around $200. With the cost of rattle cans you can spend that amountf easily. It provides a lot of flexibility in paints you can use.

Someday is the mantra of the procrastinator.

Experimentation is good when the results are repeatable. However in this case there are way too many variables. The kit plastics characteristics change frequently, the paint formulas change, temperature and humidity fluctuate, As said it makes more sense to develop a system with proven materials. And even then things can go wrong. Why make painting more difficult than it needs to be.

Ford has recall but won't have parts till next year.

Was watching an analysis of the crowdstrike debacle caused by a chain of cost saving shortcuts. Which is common in many cases today. Too much reliance on automated testing and not enough testing with actual users. -
Experimentation is a good thing. However when you are using a product for something that's its not intended for you are asking for trouble. If you are using paints made for models if the formula is changed it will still be compatible to the plastic. You can't say the same thing for Restoleum or any other similar paint. For most builders time and money are a limited commodity. New kits are expensive. Second is how you want to spend your time. Do you want to get something done or spend time fixing a paint issue because of using the wrong products.

It's also the upper management attitude that shove it out we can fix it later. Time and time again we have seen that. Increase the numbers of cars in trains but not do anything to mitigate the higher risk of derailment. GM created a Royal mess when they changed ignition switches but failed to change the part number and had to recall more vehicles becuase they didn't know what vehicles needed the switches changed. Most recently the Clouds trike debacle. It's simply not cost effective to take the we'll fix it later attitude. It's even worse when the problems cause a loss of lives or irreparable damage. -
Decisions are important otherwise you will not be able to do anything.

I find it hard to believe this problem wasn't known.. Rigorous testing would have made it obvious. What I can't fathom is although the cost to make it right with customers it still would be less than t he invetible class action suits will cost. In addition the loss of futue customers , The only good thing at least people aren't stranded in space like the Boeing starling astronauts. -

Quality may be job 4 but customer service isn't on the list. And there already lawsuits in the works. -

Great point. When we have topics like this their are some who label such practices as shoddy craftsmanship or laziness. We need to think beefore we speak. For some may have limitations they may be doing the best they can and I think it's great they can enjoy our great hobby. The object of the hobby is to have fun. -

Isn't technology wonderful. AI has the capability to mass produce village idiots. I find it hard to be the supply is limited. -
Wasn't paying attention this morning and went to make a cup of coffee and I forgot to put the cup below the water flow. I wasted a coffee pod and of course the tray overflowed. Had to clean up the mess before I could make a new cup.

Another thing is when you pick a kit to build ask here what issues others have run into with that kit.
