  1. Applied the colour coat to the 65 Impala.
  2. Working for me. https://cults3d.com/en/design-collections/motabas/chevrolet
  3. Restock of SMS Jet Black and Super Clear, and a few other colours.
  4. Yes, but not so much over my head. It has more to do with I cant be bothered putting in the effort to get it built 🤣
  5. Thanks Bob. Also have applied the BMF before paint on the tail light trim rings, will be much easier to remove paint on the raised edge than trying to trim around each one.
  6. Scribed, shaved the door handles, scripts and badges. Moulded in wiper delete. Reworked the moulded in tail light trim rings. Drilled out original holes and installed 4mm styrene tube, which was also drilled out to suit tail lights.
  7. Yeah right, so far im not having any issues with texture/etching with airbrushed Mr Finishing Surfacer 1500 black and MLT. But the real test against the Hasegawa plastic will be when I apply the SMS paints. I will take extra precaution and apply 3 separate rounds of 1500 black and letting it fully cure, that should seal in the styrene and prevent any reactions hopefully. Thanks Bob, 1500 black is good stuff.
  8. Try these guy's for doing the 3D design, just send them message. They are usually willing to help out. https://cults3d.com/en/users/Scale-Model-Wheels-And-Design/3d-models They helped me out and designed the wheels for my XW GT Falcon.
  9. @stitchdup Thanks for the heads up. When you say "went textured" are you meaning the Tamiya primer reacted and possibly etched the styrene Hasegawa used in those particular kits. I applied the usual light check coat of Mr Finishing Surfacer 1500 black and seems to be okay so far.
  10. I like big wheel cars, when they have good wheel fitment. I hope to build a scale model inspired by this car sometime in the future.
  11. Watched this yesterday. I have always liked Armando's Lowrider Model Cars and his 1:1, and after seeing this video the inspiration did strike, so you got to run with it. Dug into the stash and grabbed a kit. Not the best 65 Impala kit to start with, but it will have to do until I get the Revell version. Obviously Armando's 65 Impala will be the inspiration. Seeing as it's an average kit Im not concerned with accuracy or going to get too carried away with it, just concentrate on the body and paint job.
  12. Good to see you making some progress Stu.
  13. Applied the colour coat to the XW's.
  14. Thanks Steve, paint is decent for a wet sanded and polished solid colour with no clear. I dont think I will ever top the 70 Chevelle I done. That is my best black paint job.
  15. Appreciate all the comments, thank you. Nah, 221ci with the stock version kit. Im pretty sure when they release the custom version of the XY ute kits, one will have a supercharged Barra. Hope to see a build thread. The design and assembly of the bed is a bit different. Not my favourite DDA kit ive built, but its a Aussie ute so I can get past my grievances 😄
  16. Thanks Mathias. Thanks Anton, Tamiya compounds work great for enhancing the shine.
  17. Been awhile since ive completed a build. And like always my go to kits when trying to get back into building model cars are the Aoshima kits, I like them for the simplicity and ease of building. So I grab this kit out the stash and set about customising it to my favourite lowrider build style. Box art is just too cool with these kits. I shaved the door handles, scripts, fuel cap, front turn signals and wiper mounts. Fitted Pegasus #1311 DZ's wire wheels. I 3D printed and installed a chain steering wheel. Used optional part in the kit for the tail light panel set up. Aluminium tube for the exhaust tip. Modified the optional front grill by opening it up to install some photo etch mesh And like always paint is Tamiya TS-14 black, which was wet sanded and polished with the Tamiya compounds. And the interior is TS-49 bright red with flat clear over coat.
  18. Yeah agree, I sourced most of my Aoshima kits from PlazaJapan.
