  1. Maybe for the same reason that we get mad about our Ford or Chevy needing service once in a while, but when a Ferrari or Mercedes breaks down everyone just says that's normal?
  2. This is great!
  3. This is my attempt at a belly tanker. I shared it in the wrong place earlier, so I have put it here now. It's a curbside (saltside?), I never finished it inside because we moved, but maybe someday.
  4. This one came from the Posie's diecast. It was built by Todd McWilliams, who passed away a year ago. There are a lot of wagons possible if you look at promos, diecast and resin. For instance that Studebaker Conestoga was done in resin. I have one of those too, somewhere. I never got around to building it though. That looks really good!
  5. The engine I used was out of a 1/24 40 Ford truck so it was really too big. The one out of the midget would probably fit really well.
  6. IThe wheels and tires are just generic ones I had laying around. I had one Chevy hubcap. I'm not sure where it came from, but I made 3 more with a Hobby Lobby casting kit. The Revell Black Widow Chevy would have been a good source if I had had one .
  7. Thanks for the looks! The bare metal was done as an experiment. After priming and fine sanding the body, I painted the '34 with Krylon Dull Aluminum and polished it smooth. I then heavily globbed on some acrylic flat black and then partially wiped it off before it had a chance to dry very much. It comes out looking pretty good.
  8. I love trailers and have built quite a few, but these are the only ones I have photos of. The orange one is modeled after the U-Haul one that came with the original AMT Chevy Nova. The purple one was converted to stock from the Monogram '36 Ford street rod kit and the teardrop is made from model airplane Birch plywood, stained and clear coated. They are really so simple to build and add a lot to your collection.
  9. That's the one! It also came in a different color. I bought one of each. Now I wish I had bought more! One of these days I want to do it up with a roof rack and a bunch of camping gear in the back as if it's headed for Yosemite for a family vacation.
  10. Not sure exactly what category this fits, but figured this might be the closest, so here goes. It's one of the old Lindberg or Hawk(?) 1/32 scale cars that had rubber band power. The body is close enough to pose as a 1/25 car, so I built a crude chassis and put a flathead in it and called it good. One of these days I'll figure out how to do decals.
  11. Here is my '57. It 1/25 and started out as a Jesse James diecast that I found at Walmart years ago. They came with a custom paint job and were lowered with hydraulic stuff in the back. I turned it into a basic Chevy family car. I stripped it and repainted it in the closest thing to a stock Chevy color that Krylon makes.
  12. First, I apologize for putting these in the wrong category, they should have gone into the Trucks section. Second thanks for the compliments. The red and white one is a Modelhaus kit. The black one started out as an Ebay special. The bed section wasn't in very good condition and I prefer stepsides anyway, so I cut it off and used the 53 Ford bed and various other parts.
  13. The green Ford recently went through an unplanned gravity test. Yep, gravity still wins. The camper shell survived at least.
  14. I have been following this site for a long time and wanted to put some of my builds out for everyone to see. I used an iPhone, so forgive the quality.
  15. I always wanted to do one of the Monogram Lincolns as the car Sonny Corleone was driving when he stopped at the toll booth in Godfather. Decided it was too far beyond my abilities.
  16. Very cool! It looks like it should be in a Quentin Tarantino movie.
  17. I have been wanting to share a few of my builds for a while and couldn't until the new format came into effect. Forgive the quality and background they were shot on the fly in the backyard with an iPhone.
  18. I love wagons in general, so I buy any wagon when I find them. Here is my '57 converted from a 1/25 Jesse James die-cast.
  19. Love it... Great subject, great model!
  20. I grew on the Texas coast, so I remember the older guys driving around with the back jacked up with wide tires and mags on the back and stock wheels and hubcaps on the front. And being in a rust prone area, there were the obligatory spray can primer spots and Bondo. And the JC Whitney mail order or local Western Auto chrome parts.
  21. Great pictures.I like to uild pairs when I can, so I bought two of the Monogram '40 Ford pickups. I converted one of them back to stock using the parts from an AMT '40 Ford car. Not 100% correct, but close enough for me. Sorry, guys, wrong photo, guess I don't have one of '40s.
  22. I would love to see the '58 in any and all forms. It used the same chassis as the '57, so I would think it would be feasible. Not sure, but I think the '59 was completely different. I've bought several of the '57 and would certainly buy others.
  23. These are cool. I would love to see conversion kits to build one of these in a stock form. For that matter, it would be neat to have one for the Henry J, the Topolino and the other drag kits.
  24. I wonder if the Monogram 1/24 64 Mustang or the 1/25 Amt 67 Mustang would offer a better chassis or parts for this kit?
