  1. Did anyone attend the ModelFiesta today? I only had a couple hours there, but it was fun. There didn't seem to be a lot of entries in the contest, but I found some things I had been wanting in the sales area. I managed to get a couple photos.
  2. That's really cool, nice work? I miss the days when my kids wanted me to build their pinewood derby cars that they were supposed to build themselves!
  3. In a way I'm glad to hear that. I was beginning to doubt my ability to judge scales! LOL
  4. Good job! These trucks are so neat.
  5. I think it's a Volkswagen LT van. They're pretty cool!
  6. Is that the kit rear wing, modified? I like it.
  7. That is really good. Neat idea!
  8. I was looking at the Jada F&F Escort at Walmart. It is listed as 1/24th but it appears larger. Has anyone scaled it out? I'm guessing it's closer to 1/22nd? I really like that generation of the Escort, but I want one that is accurate. In fact most of Jada's products seem oversize. Is that correct?
  9. I would do a light prime coat and take it out into indirect sunlight and check for lines and flaws first.
  10. Duplicolor makes good stuff. They have sealer primer, sandable primer and a regular primer and all work well.
  11. I did that when I worked for a fabrication company. We would order several thicknesses and they would use a giant shear to cut them to 24x36 for us.
  12. Is this available in the US? It looks interesting!
  13. Here is a picture of the decal sheet. It took several hours to do but it counted towards training so win/win. Don't know if I will use them all, but it was fun doing.
  14. The theme for this year is Vans and I wanted something unusual so I remembered I had 2 Revell VW Westfalias in my stash. They aren't noted for speed, but we'll see! At lunch last week I was looking for ideas and came across some old Audi and Porsche rally photos and found inspiration and worked out a plan. I'm supposed to be getting proficient in Word so I took that opportunity to design some decals using fonts and internet pics and so I came up with some I liked and used the Xerox to print them out on Microscale Laser paper. Just a couple of notes if you want to try this: Don't use inkjet paper in a laser copier. Luckily I researched that before trying! LOL. Also, the ink doesn't run, but you can still scratch it off if your not careful so clear coat it. The colors aren't spot on so you have to be flexible and of course they don't print metallics or white but it was fun to use my imagination at work!
  15. I love that look, are you doing a build thread? How did you get the effect?
  16. I think I like it!
  17. If you don't find anyone to do them, try Kenny Terry Decals on Facebook. I had him do some Porsche decals for me and they came out really well. I think it was less than $20 for them.
  18. I feel your pain! I'm having the same issue. I washed the Westfalia before and after cleaning up mold marks and then primed it in white. When I masked to paint the window trim, guess what? The primer peeled off.
  19. I worked at Lowe's many years ago an brought home a 2 inch this stack of those plastic signs they use on the top of the shelves to identify what is below. They were 6' by 48". I gave a lot of it away to friends and used the rest up. Now I go to Walmart or Lowe's and buy the plastic For Sale signs. The big ones are around 24x18 and perfect for most of what I do. They also have smaller ones that are thinner plastic as well and the corrugated ones work well for some things too.
  20. Last year, I decided they would never be released, so I got on an eBay kick and ended up with three of the Gelandewagens when I came across them at good prices, a rally and two stock ones. Now I want the Landie and the Range Rover to go with them. Also the Audi to replace the Tamiya one I lost a long time ago!
  21. That looks great, ready to head down the Texas Mile heading for 200mph!
  22. I'm on ATT and no luck here either.
  23. I'm excited to see the Land Rover and Range Rover coming out!
  24. I'm late to it, but I'd like to have a go with this VW Westfalia. I've been looking for a suitable subject and finally remembered I had two of these in storage. I did some online research today and it's a popular thing to re-power them with Subaru WRX engines. I probably won't do an actual engine since it is invisible in this vehicle.
  25. I like your builds. They are so clean and realistic. They look like something from a museum display.
