  1. This looks great! Love the wheels, too.
  2. This is a great kit. I really wish they would reissue it!
  3. Does Patto's Place make the correct decals? Their site is kind of hard to navigate, but they have a lot of decals.
  4. Nice project. Can you use the wheels and tires off the Tamiya early VW or maybe the Hasegawa VW vans? I have several of the 1970s issue Revell 911s. They come with those wide two piece tires and I found out that some of the Pegasus lowrider tires fit the Revell wheels and are much closer to the correct stock Porsche tires.
  5. It's hard to say without seeing it in person, but the mid-70s MPC Pro-Stock kits had some slicks that seemed about right when I used them years ago. You might also troll eBay. Sometimes I come across people on there selling bundles of drag parts and you might try that.
  6. I've had luck with sanding the existing paint to get rid of orange peel and rough it up a bit and then wiping it down with degreaser. After that, I shot the new paint and it worked with no problems.
  7. It would be an awesome shop truck!
  8. Nice job. My son bought one just like this last year, same color and everything. He said he wanted an old classic to fix up.

One of my favorite cars and favorite kits! You did good!
  10. Looks good. I've been thinking about getting one of these.
  11. I would love to see a 1/24th Cheetah and also a 1/24th LM002. There used to be a diecast toy one that was accurate and the right scale that I converted into a nice LM002 but I lost it somewhere along the line and haven't found another one.
  12. Many years ago, I got on a kick where I would build the engines out of my kits and so I ended up with 12 built engines. These look really good!
  13. We have three HobbyTowns in our area and they all seem to be out of stock on most Tamiya paints fairly often.
  14. Hobby Lobby, Michael's and Walmart all sell Washi tape in 1/2" width. It is sold for decorating in the scrapbooking area and is printed with designs, but I think it's the same thing and is pretty cheap to try.
  15. Not much help, but I've been told it works either way.
  16. You can usually polish it out unless it is too heavy. As far as airborne contaminants, you can only change the environment by either cleaning or moving the spray booth to another area. If it's in a garage or something, you might try misting the floor with water to keep contaminants from being stirred up by wind or walking around. We live with two fuzzy dogs so that is an issue no matter how well I de-lint myself.
  17. I've wondered this too. I've also been looking for a Vanagon roof to turn the Westie back into a regular Vanagon if anyone has one. I have the UN flat roof Vanagon, but I want more!
  18. In two weeks we are going to be doing a week and a half kamikaze/Cannonball road trip from Austin to San Francisco and possibly into Oregon, time and weather permitting. Does anyone know of old line hobby shops in that area that I might be able to sneak into while the wife and kids are distracted? I'm always looking for old or uncommon car/truck kits.
  19. That looks nice! I hope my entry turns out half as good. Were you inspired by Hemmings or was it a coincidence? They drove a restored 1936 Ford Panel Truck in the 1979 running of the original Cannonball.
  20. Do they make 1/24th R/C cars? Are they any good? That actually sounds like fun.
  21. I would never pay $200 for one, but I will pay the HL price less %40 for one! It should be a nice nostalgia subject.
  22. So technically, on a truck on the road, but still... Out in front of my office.
