That looks great! Is it the Polar Lights kit? Does it include all the gear in the back?

The family did our yearly trip to Dallas for AnimeFest which gave me the chance to slip off to Wild Bill's Hobby in Irving. It is a general purpose old-school place. They have pretty much anything you might want. As far as car kits, it is amazing to me. A lot of older kits tucked away with current issues. I only get to go once a year, but I always find some things that I want.

Building and using a centrifugal caster
oldcarfan replied to Pico's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That is too cool! Could you use it to cast resin too? -
The last I saw was a few years ago on eBay. I haven't looked in a while.

They need to keep the Corvette a front engine sports/grand touring and let the mid engine car be it's own thing. Maybe they can use the Stingray name for the new one and give it it's own identity.

I'm on a roll, sort of. I've been a kit starter for a couple of years and I'm pushing myself to finish somethings. I've been buying Monogram curbside 911s whenever I find them as they are my favorite kit ever. Anyway, I built this one up as another hot rod the way I'd like to have a real one. It's done in Kryon Smoke Grey. I removed the whale tail and it is lowered with American style deep dish steelies. Nothing fancy and I've still got to figure out where to get some mirrors as the Monogram kit didn't come with them. Anyway, here it is along with another Monogram and a Tamiya I've done this month.

Revell 1980 Bronco engine
oldcarfan replied to landman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The Revell/Monogram 1/24th Bronco was a 302 I think. The Revell one is probably a 351W but the kit wasn't as accurate overall. -
The Monogram Porsche 911 curbside kit is mine. I built it many times as a kid, usually the same kit that I tore apart and redid, and have been buying and building them again over the last year or so.

Toyota Fj Cruiser , New From Fujimi
oldcarfan replied to martinfan5's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I never warmed up to the 1:1 FJ so I won't be getting this, but if they decide to do an FJ40 I would be getting that. -
1/25 AMT Snap Fit 1980 Toyota 4x4 Pickup
oldcarfan replied to Casey's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Yes sir! Another of the old MPC kits I would love to build again! -
Will they ever re-issue it? MPC Dodge truck.
oldcarfan replied to 426 pack's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
This is one of those kits I would buy, then buy again. I love the old MPC kits. I would buy the step bed ones, the long bed ones and if they backdated it with the original tooling grille and stuff, I would buy it again! -
I love what you have done this is amazing. I could use a set of those Rotiforms with tires. I've never ordered from Shapeways. Can you give me a primer on them? What is your name on their site? Do we order your design from them and they print it out and ship it? Do they take credit cards? Sorry if this has been answered before.

This looks great, when I was in the Navy at Corry Station in Pensacola they had a hobby shop that had this kit. I bought and built it twice. I need to start watching for eBay for it. I also know what you mean about finding a kit you love. I am that way about the old Monogram Porsche 911 curbside. It's not well detailed, but everytime I build one, I have fun. I built and rebuilt it as a kid and a couple years ago found it and redid it again. Now I seem to be on a mission to corner the market on them! lol

I just came across this thread and love it! I remember seeing one of these and also a Corvair with a mid-engine conversion when I was little. A couple years ago I read a blog by a guy who had done one of these conversions in real life. It turned out that an LS GM engine weighed not too much more than a Porsche flat six and because it was shorter it actually helped the front/rear balance by a couple of percent as well as adding some 150 horsepower. Now I'm thinking that one of my Porsche models might do well with one of these.

Love it! Beautiful!

I just bought a glue bomb match to this one yesterday on eBay. It's not like I need another Porsche to work on, but it was very cheap and practically begging me to buy it!

What Are You Building Today?
oldcarfan replied to oldcarfan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That's amazing! -
Here in Austin, we are having hot days. It's gotten over 100 for 20-some days. Today it is also super low humidity so I am taking advantage of the good painting weather. I've got a coat of Krylon Smoke Gray on the Porsche and a good coat of Tamiya black on the Cannonball Countach. The low humidity lets it lay down pretty smooth, plus the heat creates a nice oven to bake it! 4 hours and it's dry to the touch. They won't be a perfect job, but they'll be decent 20-scale-footers.
