  1. I generally prefer 1/25th to 1/24th, but if it's a kit I really want, I won't let the difference stop me. I think it has more to do with the fact that I preferred MPC kits to Monogram kits when I was young rather than the actual scale. However if it's 1/32nd or 1/20th, no. As for Mustangs, I would think a notchback would be a pretty easy add for them. It would take a new body and interior tub, but it would give them a new kit to release for less than a completely new tool. I really would love to see a notchback '68, '69 and '70.
  2. Remember a few months ago how the lost and crushed Bullitt Mustang was found in Mexico? I keep hoping that someday all those lost and crushed model car molds will be found and brought back. A guys gotta dream, right?
  3. I love this stuff, but be careful using it. My dad used it to clean the bottom of his car after an oil leak. He sprayed it on and scrubbed it off without gloves or mask for an hour or so till everything was clean. He didn't think about the mist getting on him. For about 3 days he was so swollen, it looked like he had been stung by bees on his hands and face.
  4. I can vouch for this. My uncle was a small town race car builder in the 60s and 70s. He would build by eye from pictures and by laying down chalk lines on the concrete carport floor. He used materials he could find at the scrap yard or laying around, so tubing and flat stock tended to be larger than used by the professionals.
  5. This is the type of model I hated as a kid, because it was too silly, but would love to have now as a nostalgic old 'kid'!
  6. That looks so nice. I've been checking my LHS and both Hobby's Town and Lobby. They don't have them yet.
  7. I have the Cobra and several of the 53 Fords already, but I'll buy if it encourages them to dig out other old molds and rehab them. The box art looks like a 2 axle trailer. I can use that for something for sure!
  8. I'd like some info on this if you have any to share!
  9. I loved that red Torino! I had one of those and played with it so much I wore paint off and the wheels almost through. Since you've reminded me, now I'm going to have to haunt eBay and try to find one.
  10. My Cannonball entry is sitting there on the bench. Close by are my Lindberg Trans Am and Camaro, waiting their turns for a Cannonball style build and four Monogram curbside Porsche 911s.
  11. Well there goes my allowance for August. I'll have to get two of these.
  12. I've got the AMT Snap Kit first-gen RX-7. I need to get it out and try it.
  13. I'm hoping it hits Hobby Lobby shelves as well. I haven't seen the Datsun Pickup, Opel GT or the RX7 there. Are they out yet and is HL carrying them? Here's hoping Monogram will reissue their Datsun 260Z also.
  14. I really like this. What sort of chassis is this? I'm not up on R/C, but this looks like it's the type of thing I'd like to try. Is it like a department store style slow chassis or is it more like a Tamiya type?
  15. I always thought of exhibition racers as sort of like wrestlers are now. Putting on a performance rather than an actual race.

  17. Are exhibition cars the same as match racers? I was thinking the Snake and Mongoose funy car kits were more exhibition than actual competition racers, but I could be wrong. Also, I Google imaged 1:1 wheelstanders and never would have guessed how many of those things were built. Wow, Galpin Ford even built an Econoline pickup that was reversed on its frame called the BACK-UP Pickup.
  18. GaryR. A gallon of Coyote Urine, a gallon of Liquid Garlic scent and a gallon of Fox Urine? No way are we holding the MCM Fourth of July mixed drinks party at your house!
  19. Cool. This opens up a whole new venue for you to buy stuff. Now you can haunt eBay and resale shops looking for vintage Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars!
  20. There is a 1/24th diecast of the 1980s Dodge Diplomat that's been around a while. I think Maisto or someone had one at Walmart a few years ago too. Did anyone mention the Blues Brothers cruiser? I think there is a standard police version of it too.
  21. You might look into slot car wheels and tires. A few years ago I came across some at an old hobby shop. They were meant for 1/32 scale slot cars, but the tires fit onto a 1/24 Hasegawa 13" wheel that I had so they must have been right.
  22. Not necessarily cops and robbers, but you could get a Porsche Speedster and a 63(?) Corvette and do the racers from the 1980 movie King of the Mountain. Both cars have personality! Also not movies per se, but a 1950 Ford and a Porsche Spyder? Or is that in bad taste?
  23. Corgi shows one in 1/43rd scale. Don't know it it's still available. I think there was a slot car version at one time as well. http://www.modelly.com/modelcars/members/fred/corgi-toys/ford-gt70-pjj/
  24. Really ooking nice. I love the Tom Daniels kits!
