I went ahead and ordered from Amazon since we already have an account there. They are coming from a vendor called Toy Shop Japan Hobby One. They have a 99% good rating. I just ordered a couple sets of Fujimi wheels. I figured that would be a fairly cheap test of their service. $9 per set and free shipping. Seemed worth a try. I'll let you all know how they do.

I've recently become interested in some of the Japanese kits that can't be found in the US. On top of that, my son is wanting some Anime items. I can order them from Amazon and they are decently priced, but they ship from Japan, China or Australia. The sellers have good ratings, so I'm not worried about that. Since I haven't done this before can anyone advise me? Amazon lists the price and shipping. Is it that straightforward? Are there customs or other fees that I need to know about? I would appreciate any help.

Really good build and nice pictures too. I would like to know what camera and lights you used to get them so realistic?

Love it. I've been hanging out on StanceWorks and some other sites like that. You've really captured the look.

I like it. This kit is on my list of ones to look for the next time I make the three hour trek to the hobby shop in Dallas. Shelf models are the best models! They are the ones that remind us how to have fun.

Good find. I built all these kits when they came out. I really wish I had saved them! -
Really looking forward to this!

I would like to join this I don't think anyone else has done it. I was thinking the Revell Police Impala or an old Robo-Cop Taurus. I can't find the Taurus so the Impala it is. I paid $2 from Hastings when they closed down. I think it would be a good one for a stealthy cross country run! Here's my proposal. The 1:1 Impala is a competent highway cruiser, a regular front drive, V6 bland-mobile. You see them at every all -you-can-eat-buffet, rest home and government office in every town. This is the type of car that tells everyone, "Hey I'm practical transportation!" The 3.8 engine can put out around 400 reliable non-turboed hp with stock internals. That kind of hp in a front drive can be a handful, but for flat out interstate use it should work quite well. There are also big brake options and suspension parts available that can be made to fit. My ideas for paint? Well, black is an obvious choice. But is it too obvious? It practically screams, "Don't look at me, I'm being stealthy over here!" The other option is Grandma Gold, the official color choice of retirees and rental car fleets the country over. If that color could talk it would be saying, "Pay no attention to me dear, I'm on my way to Walmart and then on to bingo!" The problem with this color is that it's sooo boring and may not translate well to 1:25th scale. My inspirations are the ICON ex-DEA Caprice https://www.google.com/amp/www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/amp30507/icon-chevy-caprice-build-process/?client=safari and this Grandma hand-me-down turned canyon runner. http://www.carscoops.com/2016/08/this-modified-240hp-38-litre-chevy.html?m=1 Probably going to keep the push bar and add an LED light bar and some Cibies, maybe even a Thule roof rack, and plenty of antennae on the outside. It'll need radios and sat coms and computers and detectors. Inside she'll need comfy seats for long hours behind the wheel. Big wheels, tires and brakes, but nothing too flashy. Maybe 1/25th scale AAA and AARP and "My kid is a good citizen at Polk Elementary!" stickers for the back. Probably just a curbside build, as I can't find a donor for the chassis.

Really nice. I have this kit as well. I bring it out occasionally and work on it, then put it back in the box. Don't know why! -

i've had good luck with a couple drops of Testor's enamel. -
I still have two of the ESCI Renault 5s in the rally version and one of their Escorts. I had the Nitto release of the Lancia Stratos at one time. I may have to get a couple more. How are Italeri's prices?

Anyone know what scale the Airfix QuickBuild kits are and if they are accurate? -
You're doing a great job on this, can't wait to see it finished! I need to bust one out of the Impalas that I bought on clearance a while back. Does anyone know if this was a replica of a real trailer or a freelance design? I did the google image search of vintage trailers and didn't see anything really close.

I just went to King's Hobby the last local hobby shop in Austin. Got the AMT VW Scirroco so that I have one more kit from my youth!

BMW 635 csi Jagermeister-update 3/22 decals and window trim
oldcarfan replied to 935k3's topic in WIP: Model Cars
This is awesome. I have the Monogram 635 and I need to dig it out. I just found inspiration the other day in Austin traffic. The guy in front of me had one that had been lowered with vintage BBS wires and it looked like he had thrown some German tuner body bits on it. It was in primer like he was getting ready to paint. It looked like a fairly young kid driving. I wanted to get pictures, but I also wanted to not get into any wrecks, so... -
This is super nice! Love what you are doing.

Could there be a stickie added where posts that cover some aspect of the history model kits could be collected? I've seen several over the years and it would be nice to collect them all in one place. -

I loved that kit. I built one with the 5.0 from a Mustang kit and made a modern day Cobra! -

You did great! Absolutely nailed the look! Now if we can only get them to backdate the current kit and re-release it like this. -
This is the one from the 1976 MPC Caprice, right? Really nice!

I think I heard that the RX-7 is going to be released this year. I have plans for a couple of those, and I also plan to hit a big model car show later in the year and the rest of these cars are all on my look-out list! I've already got the MB, the Ferrari and the 924 but I can always use more! -
It's the Rata de Hierro and I came across it on of all places a Subaru site. It's a LeMons racer built from a Mustang, a T body and an A frame. Probably any of us have those parts in our junk box. It's reminiscent of a certain junkyard dog from the early 60s that took on Europe's finest. Very cool, at least I think so! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9t40W1g1gY
