  1. I had a 1989 Escort GT. I had just joined the Navy and needed a good new car to drive across the country. I went in to buy a Mustang LX SSP and the waiting list to get one was 3 months. I drove off the lot in that little Escort GT and never regretted it. It had a little more power than the regular Escort. I drove from Texas to Virginia at 75-80 MPH many times and it never gave me any trouble. I've started watching Craigslist on the off chance I find another, but they are getting rare!
  2. You've talked me into it! Or at least not talked me out of it... I went out and bought this AMT Pacer kit and while there I got the MPC Pacer as well.
  3. I can't see the pictures, but I'm sure it looks great. Just curious. I am wanting to order one of these from Flintstone, but I don't want to spend all the extra for the Fujimi donor. Any thoughts as to whether one of the currently available VW kits might serve as a donor? I have several TeeVee Buggies. It wouldn't have the wheels, but I'm thinking of doing it as a kit car Spyder in Magnus Walker style or something like that so it wouldn't matter so much.
  4. Gorgeous! Which kit is this? You done good!
  5. That is so cool. If I had the space, (and the money) I would collect some of those old gas stations. My grandma had one of those in her garage that I would pull out and play with.
  6. Chris, I come back to this model every once in a while. I really like what you did there. I may have missed it, but have you ever done a feature on the background you use? I think a lot of us would like to know how it was done.
  7. I went by the LHS to look for the AMT Pacer kit. They didn't have either it or the MPC Pinto wagon, but they did have the MPC Pacer so that was good.
  8. I'm just guessing but I bet there are two reasons. One is that street drivers don't usually wear helmets so without the front bars there is nothing for the head to hit. The other reason might have to do with modern cars having air bags in several places. Maybe the bars would interfere with these?
  9. Beautiful truck! Revell we are ready for this body style F150 to be reissued again.
  10. It's looking good! And I wish we had an Ollie's in Texas. All we have is Big Lots and they haven't had any kits for ten years.
  11. My dad still has a CB in his 1986 Toyota pickup with the twin antennas, Lear camper shell and the rectangular bumper mounted fog lights. He's stylin'!
  12. I'm about ready to see this and the Firebird and the four-eye Mustang kits re-released. I'm thinking pro touring and all that!
  13. This is one of those kits I always wanted to see but thought would never be produced. Now I just have to get a couple. The valve covers kind of make the engine look like a 351 Cleveland. Dare we hope? I want to build one stock and then maybe another as an outback cruiser/desert rat vehicle. I figure the second issue will include the aftermarket flares and wider tires and maybe a pickup half cab or maybe a molded soft top?
  14. Good work!
  15. Now that's something you don't see every day! Cool
  16. Watching with interest. I bought one of these with my Christmas money and put it away to build someday.
  17. If you were to stretch the nose about a half inch or so it would look kind of like a Lotus Super 7.
  18. It would be cool to take one of these and add a blown V8 Flathead with all the go-fast goodies to it. I saw one like that a few years ago at a hot rod show. It was fast!
  19. They also had several of the AMT Tire packs for $3.99, but I decided to wait on those till the next day. Yep, that was a bad idea!
  20. Thanks! I think I might have a few of those in storage, I'll have to check..
  21. That's what I was afraid of. I was hoping that maybe one of the more obscure Japanese companies might have made one...
  22. Sounds like good ideas guys! I've had the urge to do the Porsche from the "Good Guys Wear Black" poster I had as a kid with Chuck Norris jumping towards the car. Wrong model year of course, but it was on sale so close enough for me!
  23. Man, I wish ours had the Tamiya weathering kits on sale too. I could use that and the super fine sanding sheets but I keep putting it off!
  24. Forgive me for reviving an old post. Brock Yates just passed away this last week and I so I looked here to see if there was an original Cannonball Run thread. Love reading it. Over the years I built some cars that either were in the actual race or were in one of the movies including Gumball Rally or looked like they could have been in the race. They of course are all lost, but I think I might do another just for the heck of it. Anyone know if the 1979 Subaru DL was every kitted? LOL
  25. Living where I do, you still see the Fords in the rural areas. My father in law has a couple of them, both with flatheads converted to run on propane, one that his other daughter managed to blow just after a rebuild.
