  1. Good save on the decal and nice build overall! I would love to have one of these in Austin to show up all the hipsters in their VW vans! LOL
  2. I bought a promo version not too long ago to restore one of these days. It looks the same as the kit but with a plate that simulates the engine from below. Of course it had been played with so it's missing the A pillars and the chrome is scuffed.
  3. It'll go into some collection, be hidden away and surface periodically when it is resold like old Ferrari's do. At least it'll survive.
  4. A sign of a good scratchbuild is when it looks like it was built out of the box that way. Good job. Now if I could only get someone to turn one of these into a Saab 9-2x for me.
  5. Really nice! When I was stationed in Pensacola, Fl, one of the base doctors had one of these in maroon that he drove everyday. It is on my Lottery list should I ever win big..
  6. I work full time and am going to school for my Master's while dealing with two teenage boys. I build models cars as a release. As if I needed a new distraction, I just bought a 2005 Saab 9-2x to fix up and drive. The PO had done $2500 worth of work on it, so I got the car for free, that's the way I look at it. Mechanically, it's a Subaru so it should be fairly dependable. Anyway, I intend to do some bodywork and do the junkyard crawl for a few odd bits and see if this giant gluebomb can't be restored!
  7. Great, I'll get an order together, thanks!
  8. I started this topic so as not to step on Ken Gilkeson's thread on his beautiful Cobra. You should check it out! He used the hardtop that came with the AMT kit which started me wondering if anyone has produced a version of the LeMans top Shelby used on their 1:1 cars. The profiles on the two are so different I don't think it would be an easy conversion.
  9. Maybe Aoshima will backdate their Delorean some day into a stock version. I would love it if some company would get on a 50s kick and do some BOP cars, but I would prefer some MEL cars. Mercury's Edsels and Lincolns are my favorites. Also,I wouldn't say no to some standard 2 door sedans and wagons... Hey a guy can dream, right?
  10. Just got a Saab 92x for a beater daily driver yesterday!
  11. That is really nice! Are they pressure cast or spin cast?
  12. I haven't been on your site for a little while. I look forward to getting the Minilites. Do you have the 4 lug ones in stock too? I 'd like to get a set of each.
  13. Beautiful build! It really looks good! Is that the hardtop that comes with the kit? Also does it represent an aftermarket one that was available at the time? It doesn't look like the LeMans top that Shelby used on the racers. Sorry for the questions, I bought one of these kits a while back with the idea of building an endurance racer..
  14. I dare say the paint on your model is better quality than what would have been on the 1:1 car. Well done! I used to hate 70s cars, now the haze of nostalgia has taken over and I would love to have one.
  15. Have fun and way to think ahead by not throwing out or giving away all you modeling stuff! I, like a lot of others wish they had never done that. Even any bad builds should be kept cause some day you'll want to revisit it and do better. I had a whole bunch of stuff in the 90s that I tossed and would love to have again.
  16. I try to be complementary not to make someone feel better but because I don't want to feel pedantic or nitpicky. My old college school roommate was one of those annoying, "Well, if it was me, I would have done it this way..." rivet counter kind of guys. It really got on my nerves. I've always told myself I didn't want to be like that. He couldn't just enjoy something for what it is.
  17. Silver I can work with. It's those orange, yellow and red plastics that I hate!
  18. I'm really looking forward to these! Living in Austin, the home of everything hipster and retro, I see restored bikes like this being ridden around town by guys who probably weren't even born then. If only I had kept my Suzuki TS 185 and Honda XL! There must be a niche market for accessories. Please buy these in mass quantities and maybe we can convince the companies to reintroduce the Triumph and all the other bikes, The Revell Honda Odyssey and maybe they can dig up or retool the go-kart and the canoe as well. I'm also thinking of cutting the engine out of one of these to scratch a replica of that AMT go-kart if I can't manage to score one yet again.
  19. I can't wait to get a couple of these. Wasn't someone going to make decals for this kit?
  20. Ya'll may have seen this, but I think it really cool! http://bangshift.com/bangshiftapex/awesome-v8-fury-at-the-lemans-classic-monzas-mopars-and-fords-watch/ I'm imagining a Starsky and Hutch Gran Torino combined with the 72 Gran Torino from AMT or Johan. Wonder if anyone has decals?
  21. I would love to have a copy of the MT Challenger.
  22. I've heard of using a sealer to keep red or yellow plastic from bleeding through, but never tried it.
  23. You could also get the inline six out of the AMT 50 Chevy's or the Caddy engine out of Revell's 59 Cadillac.
  24. This Hobby Lobby kit is pretty good to practice with. Be sure and use the 40% coupon though to save money. I bought one a while back to make a copy of a wheel that I only had three of. The only thing about it is that the RTV was very hard, so it wasn't very forgiving when taking out the molded parts. Use plenty of mold release and try not to have any big undercuts...
