  1. Here are some from me. http://i1342.photobucket.com/albums/o767/garyb11/modelpic21_zps10bac3fd.jpg http://i1342.photobucket.com/albums/o767/garyb11/modelpic5_zpsd5e2b605.jpg]
  2. I have a couple of these Herbies that I got way back when. I finally opened one of them and was struck by how big it looks. Is it 1/24th scale or could it be a bit larger? It just seems big compared to one of the old Revell V/Ws. Anyone know?
  3. I have a book about Chris Craft that of course I can't find right now. I can't find the exact cockpit layout that the kit represents, but I found a couple of other styles. Though by that time they were more or less production line built, you could order a custom layout and also specify if you wanted a bright (varnished mahogany) or painted hull. They had started to produce more of the open cockpit layouts by that time, so you could build one like the kit and another with the open style. Also this kit looks very nice covered in thin mahogany veneer and varnish.
  4. I love that 87 Ford. Where did you find the stock hubcaps? Did they come with the original kit?
  5. You did a great job on this. I love it!
  6. I guess my hands aren't as steady as they were a couple of years ago. I used to use pen point Sharpies to outline certain features and never had a problem. I tried it last weekend and messed up to fairly decent paint jobs. Does any one know of a water based alternative or at least one that can be wiped off if (when) I mess up?
  7. I never built it but I had a friend who did and said there were a few issues but that it was pretty nice. He compared it to AMT.
  8. When I was a little kid, getting a new model required a two hour lecture on how money didn't grow on trees, so there was a hierarchy in my model shopping. It went, MPC as my first choice, then AMT, then Revell. The next tier was Aurora, Lindberg and Palmer. They were at the bottom of my personal list and I would only get one of them if I had to. Speaking of Palmer, I wonder who ended up with their molds?
  9. I was there a few months ago. It is a blast. One of the few old time hobby shops still around.
  10. I had one of these a few years ago and the instructions had details and drawings on how to modify it into a sedan version.
  11. I would go with the Buick as it is a simpler build, yet really looks good. If you want a Roadrunner as well, you might see if you can find Monogram's 70(?) Roadrunner. I seem to remember it being on a par with the Buick in build quality.
  12. Maybe they can package it with the Mercury Woodie or something as a combo kit. That would be interesting.
  13. It was a supermini off shoot of the Fiat 128. I remember seeing one of these in Naples. It had dad, mom, three kids and grandma in it and it had a giant roof rack on top overflowing with all their vacation stuff, waiting for the ferry to Capri.
  14. For the clear coat, it could have been humidity. I used some Testors Wet Look Clear Gloss a while back. I had used this same can before and it worked fine. This time, I sprayed two bodies and they both came out dull. One of them I resprayed the next day and it came out okay. The other I polished out.
  15. I'm going to have to start saving my pennies. The Cyclone was a much better looking car than the Torino, IMO.
  16. Looking forward to these. A couple questions if I may; are the Fujimi/Aoshima/Tamiya tires sold separately by anyone or do you have buy a whole tire and wheel combo? Also, any idea if Revell's tuner tires might fit?
  17. Cool, I've been looking or something like this!
  18. I understand the MPC 1979 Pinto wagon will be reissued sometime this year. I plan on building a plain wagon and maybe a full on custom panel van as well. Does anyone know if a conversion kit is planned to either backdate it to the early small bumper version or even it there might be a hatchback conversion? Also decals to do some of these would be nice too! I for sure have one in mind kind of like the ratty one in the picture below, using the Fireball models 13 inch Minilites and wheels as a definite project.
  19. My model era was mostly the mid to late 70s, so I missed all the great annual AMT kits of the 60s. By the late 70s, AMTs new kits from the Lesney era seemed pretty poor to me. I did get the MPC annuals though, so that was cool. Revell's kits were pretty advanced for me. I bought Revell's 29 A Pickup, the orange one, from Woolworth's with my birthday money when I was about 10 and resolved the fiddly little suspension parts issue with copious amounts of Testors tube glue.
  20. Another home run. Also, I googled your city. It looks like a beautiful place!
  21. I loved driving these little time bombs when I was in Italy. The kit is a 1/24th scale Autobianchi A112 made by Fujimi. It is amazing how tiny this car is. I thought at first it was a 1/32 scale kit, but no! It would almost fit in the bed of a standard American pickup. I bought the kit a long time ago and did a decent job I thought. Time was not kind to it however. The paint had gotten badly damaged, so I stripped and repainted it, and the tires were severely cracked. I couldn't even get the tires off without them coming apart, so I brushed thick acrylic paint into the cracks to help cover them. I learned a few lessons on this rebuild, such as Sharpie ink does not come off of fresh paint, no matter what you try. Over all, I am happy with it for now.
  22. I have a few built and many that are unbuilt. Here are a couple that I have photos of, a recent build of their 70s issue Porsche 924 and a stock and rodded version of the 40 Ford truck.
  23. Sounds like a good idea! I want to build one as a stock pickup and then maybe another as a road racing style one, kind of like a pickup version of Paul Newman's racing 280Z.
  24. BMF works for me as well. I just put it on and use either a red, yellow or orange Sharpie depending...
  25. I found an unbuilt Datsun 620 that I am working on and now I am thinking about building a 720 as well. I have been looking at them online and notice they both have the same style fender flares. That made me wonder if one is just a rebox of the other. Could it be? Also can either be built as stock or are the flares molded in? Any have experience or recommendations?
