  1. No problem, and looking forward to seeing it!
  2. I bought a sheet of white Inkjet decal paper to make some stripes and it is very brittle. I know that there is a Microsol and a Microset product. What are the differences and which is used in what situation? Will one of these help the brittleness or do I need to spray a coat of clear on it before? I thought there might be a tutorial on these things, but didn't find one. Any ideas are appreciated.
  3. Is the body painted as well or is it just shiny plastic? If painted do you want to keep the paint intact and just get rid of the graphics? I would probably just put it in Purple Power and let that soak all my troubles away. That would strip everything off. An alternative might be to use oven cleaner but it is pretty messy. If you use either, use protection. Skin and lye don't mix well. If you just want to remove the graphics, fine sandpaper, a light touch and patience are your best bet.
  4. I've pretty much given up on the idea of finding one of Shawn Carpenter's 55-57 GMC conversions for AMTs Chevy truck. I am thinking about tackling one myself, but my scratchbuilding skills are moderate at best. Has anyone done this, or have any ideas on how it might be done. I think it would mostly be a new hood and grille. I could probably find the tailgate on one of MPCs old GMC kits.
  5. I plan on getting a couple of these and of the Pinto wagon as well. Being the contrary way I am though, now that it is becoming available, I also want the '78 version also of the Volare and the hatchback version of the Pinto. I always want what I can't have!
  6. I don't know, but I would love to have one. Did it have the VW chassis and engine?
  7. If it helps, I can give some details. I was trying to do it as a woodie, so I used thin model plywood, but you can use styrene as well, since a lot of them were built from aluminum sheet or plywood or whatever was at hand. I drew the plans freehand from a picture in an old magazine. They are really simple to make, basically a box with a curved top. I drew mine to be 4x8 feet, but some were longer. The fenders can be from an old car or store bought boat fenders or homemade. This is a grab from Google search, but can be blown up to scale easily enough. This is a paper kit, but could also be used as a pattern. I am working on another and hope to do a feature sometime in the future.
  8. Yup, tried Google Chrome and it works fine. Some kind of issue with FIreFox, apparently. How weird!
  9. Help? Anyone here know what the issue is? I've tried the little I know how to do. I tried posting on a thread and suddenly I had triple posted. It's almost like the page isn't loading all the way, but every other website seems okay. I did this from my phone and it seems okay.
  10. On this subject, a while back I was told Patto's Place of Australia has a lot of decals for these types of models, but their website seems impossible to navigate. Does anyone know how to search it and if they have decals for Trans Am?

  13. How about a Chevy or Ford engined Ferrari or Jag? My dad told me back in the day he knew a guy who had a Chevy small block in an XKE because he wanted a dependable car and he found out that the Chevy engine was also lighter. Mind you back then those were just old used cars. http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2016/05/09/engine-swap-a-bration-concorso-italiano-highlights-once-repowered-ferraris/
  14. Sorry, I built the teardrop in about 4 hours one saturday when I was bored. I am thinking of doing another one.
  15. Here's a couple of open cockpit versions that could be made from the kit.
  16. Looking forward to this. I have two of them, one stock and the other I made into a stepside.
  17. The resin bodies are usually pretty good. Be aware however that some are better than others, they will require a good wash with a degreaser and some of them may have some pinholes and flaws that will need attention and some such as Jimmy Flintstone bodies are usually thicker than a styrene body which will require thinning. That being said, you get some cars that are not available any where else. The new Revell 67 Camaro body has the Minilites and the car itself lends itself well to modification for Trans Am. The Revell Monogram 70 Mustang also makes a good Follmer car with the Fred Cady decals if you can find them.
  18. Here a few more of mine. The pictures are not that great, but I had fun! First the 1950 Ford with the optional expensive red cotton fiber gas cap. This is a conversion I built back before the stock parts got added to the kit. A 1950 Chevy that I made into a base model, no side rear windows. The red 1960 Ford is from Modelhaus. The back one is a conversion using an AMT 1953 F100 for the bed and frame.
  19. Bandit Resin used to make one, not sure of the quality or availability. If you are open to diecast, these show up fairly often. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1955-Chevy-Sedan-Delivery-Metal-Display-pc-used-needs-some-cleaning-/351726381253?hash=item51e486a8c5:g:k08AAOSwh-1W3aqG
  20. I often think the II has gotten a bad rap. People like to deride the Mustang II, but it was a product of its time. It was designed for a buying public that no longer cared about performance after the hangover that came from the excesses of the 60s. We can't make fun of its Pinto chassis without remembering that the original Mustang rode on the Falcon chassis which was the Pinto of its day. They were ubiquitous, disposable and made to a price point. For the time they were good cars, especially when compared to their other domestic competition. Chrysler had essentially backed out of the Pony Car market and the Camaro and Firebird were riding on a good, but aging platform. Plus without the Mustang II, where would all of those 80s era hotrodders have gotten the front suspensions for their cars? LOL
  21. I hope the church hires a reputable appraiser and auctioneer and doesn't just throw them out like my mom used to do!
  22. I almost bought one of these on eBay a while back thinking it was 1/25th. Glad now I backed out.
  23. I messed up a Duplicolor and also a Testor's base in the same day. The Sharpie bonded with the paint and nothing would touch it. I'm gonna start searching for a water base fine tip or something.
  24. Thanks, it just struck me as odd for some reason.
