  1. I wonder what happened to his build?
  2. I used to, until I realized I no longer was enjoying it. It was becoming more of a task than enjoyment. Now I build simple models.
  3. We are at Disneyworld. I found a couple build ideas even here. This one is a model in the Disney museum of the Dipmobile from Who Framed Roger Rabbit. It is actually in 1/24th scale. I'm wondering what base kit might work. I'll have look into it when we get home
  4. I found this today. Does this model belong to anyone on here? http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/all-cobra-talk/79278-csx2196.html
  5. Yep, mdmracepix, those you mentioned were basically curbsides as I recall. That is partly why I would like to see them again. I am long past stressing about each and every detail. I build only for enjoyment now. My eyes and my attention span are not what they used to be and I am finding that I am quite happy with simpler models as long as the finished product looks good on my shelf. Boy I sound way older than I am. I just depressed myself! Was it really only 5 years ago that I was still cool? Cheez! And no, I don't know how I underlined it. Even the computer is saying, "I don't know either." One of those days..
  6. I think the Porsche that was just released is a more detailed ROG kit. Could be wrong. Thanks for all the other great pictures. Some of those I had forgotten about others I never knew. Tax time is coming. I'll have to watch for a couple of these at auction. I actually have one of the Land Rovers on my bench, shoved to the back. It is in time out until it starts behaving like a nice little model kit should. Every time I work on it something goes wrong.
  7. Beautiful work. I had this model a long time ago. It died when I was moving. It ended under something heavy in a packing box.
  8. The title says it all, I guess. Just saw ChrisR's 924 model and I'm envious. It reminded me how I really loved these models back when you could get them at any 5 & 10. Hey you kids! Get off my lawn! Sorry, just a reflex... I know they were simplified kits, but they looked good on the shelf and my eyes and my patience aren't what they used to be. These are the only ones I remember. I think there may have been others kits, I know there wre variants of these at least. Any thoughts? Could I write Monogram? Would it do any good?
  9. My memory may be foggy, but back about twenty year ago, there was a Car and Driver article about a guy in Houston or someplace who had bought all the leftover De Loreans parts. I wonder if this is the same guy. If I recall, when they auctioned off the remains of the company, he got all the unbuilt cars, parts and naming rights and everything. They said he had enough parts to build 30 or 40 complete cars.
  10. The Low Volume Manufacturers Act was just signed by the President. It allows a company to produce a small amount of replica cars per year. So you could conceivably see complete Porsche 356s or 66 Mustangs or something running around. The only requirement that I can remember says the original must have been made at least 25 years ago.
  11. I was going to get a couple anyway, to go with the stock one I built a while back. Now I can't wait!
  12. I ust ordered mine today. Really looking forward to it. Now I have to buy a Shelby kit. I thought I had one, but I just looked at the box it is the Fast and Furious one with the Toyota engine. I'm not sure that would quite do! Lol
  13. That is what he was going for. Hetfield apparently is a big fan of 30s French designers. Who would have thought it from Metallica?
  14. As far as the kit itself, regardless of year, it was a decent representation as far as I can recall. I built one of these and one of the Toronado a long time ago and remember them being decent, pretty much on par with the AMT or MPC kits of the time. I think I still have most of one that my dad pirated the drivetrain out of to use in a motorhome that he built in the 80s.
  15. According to Google image search, 1974 was the last year for the round headlights. 75 and later were the rectangular ones.
  16. I subscribe to the old adage, "If it looks right it is right!" It is amazing how good they have done over the years in recreating the full size designs. Palmer excepted, of course!
  17. Hot Rod Magazine has the contenders for America's Most Beautiful Roadster pictured online. Some of them I don't care for as I am not a fan of slick Boyd style cars, but I thought you all might care to check them out. James Hetfield's Packard is pretty sweet, but this Model A rules! It makes me want to buy another Revell Model A. LOL... Here is the link. http://www.hotrod.com/events/1601-exclusive-all-contenders-for-the-2016-americas-most-beautiful-roadster-title-at-grand-national-show/?sm_id=social_aumohotrodsshub_default_20160128_57713466&adbid=10153219281677540&adbpl=fb&adbpr=13601527539#photo-01
  18. The weathering is great, but overall the appearance is amazing. It is a cliche, but you have managed to render a car that looks 1:1 rather than 1:24th!
  19. I was looking at two bodies that I had, the Revell 1968 Mustang and the AMT 1967. They were both the same scale and yet not much was interchangeable. The roof heights and widths were off, and some other things were slightly different too. They measure a real car, so you would think the models would turn out virtually the same. Is it just the designer's interpretation or artistic license? I noticed the same thing a while back between older kits like AMTs Pacer and Pinto and MPCs versions. Either way, I like the cars, it just made me wonder. I'm not criticizing either, it just seems odd that they can vary by a fairly good amount and yet still be good representations of the same car.
  20. I've got the Gälendewagen Paris Dakar, Land Rover, two versions of the Renault 5 Alpine rally, the VW Golf rally and somewhere the Ranger Rover Paris Dakar.
  21. Anyone know if the rumor that they have ESCIs old tools is true? I have one Gelandewagen to build, but I would love to have another. Also the Range Rover and their really cool 70s-80s rally cars...
  22. I'm looking for inspiration. I plan to build a model of one of my uncle's old racers. This is the only picture I have. It was built and raced around 1960 or so. He was involved with racing from the 50s into the early 70s. He mostly built Chevrolet's, but with the occasional Ford and even the odd Pinto or Volkswagen Beetle mini-stock. Anyone have pictures from that time period they care to share?
  23. Maybe Flash Gordon's daily driver?
  24. I don't know, I guess I'll finish the ones I started last year! Maybe..
