I love what you've done here. I bought two in a junkyard bag at the model show a couple weeks ago that may yield enough parts for one good car.

I started one a while back. It is currently sitting in its box on the shelf. It will stay there until it has learned its lesson and promises to behave! I've moved on to the Monogram curbside 911s to calm down.

I built some of these cars back in the 80s using the available kits and Fred Cady decals, unfortunately they were lost when I got out of the military and the movers squished some boxes. I would love to see a series of Trans Am kits, but I would prefer them to be a street body car for a specific reason.The problem that I see with the race versions is that they had flared fenders and other non-street mods so kit manufacturers would have to tool up two separate kits to do street and race and I don't think the market would support a series of Trans Am only kits. But if they provided the basic street cars, the aftermarket could pick up the difference. There were so variations from team to team and even race to race that it would make more sense to do maybe a 2-N-1 kit to build a street stock bodied car and include the basic race parts, i.e. a roll cage, seat and some Minilites and let the aftermarket jump in with detail and decal sets. That way you could buy the kit and then choose which team car you wanted to build and order the parts and decals designed for that car. This would get around some of the licensing issues as well. There were so many teams and sponsors that that could be a logistical nightmare. Also, by doing this it would leave the door open for the Grand Am NASCAR versions and don't forget the drag versions of these cars. Who wouldn't love a Grumpy's Toy Camaro a Sox and Martin car or a new Dragon Lady Javelin? It is way past time for a 68 Mustang coupe and the 69s Mustangs we have are not very accurate. There are already lots of decent Camaros to choose from already, don't forget the Sunoco 69s that Penske built. The Challengers and Cudas kits are out there and reasonably well designed. The Javelin and the Firebird would be much appreciated. While I'm on the subject, how about the under 2.5 liter cars, we already have the BRE 510 kit and I think someone did the Alfa Romeos years ago. Sorry, I just realized I'm rambling, I've been up for a while and had 2 Super Caff-Pows and a lot of tea!

I can't see any markings on the 4 car or the 2 car, but I'm pretty sure they are old curbside Tamiya kits. They both have the old motorized type chassis.The yellow one is the simplified Monogram Carrera RSR from the late 70s. I don't know if it's supposed to be an actual Hurley Haywood replica or not, but I haven't found any google images of a Porsche marked like that.

This one looked like Eleanor in the car crusher. On the good side, I called Tamiya and they said I would have a replacement body on the way.

I was trying a Rustoleum color that I liked. Unfortunately, this brand of paint has issues with staying tacky, hence the attempt at force drying.. On another note, I got an email from Tamiya and they have the body and will send it it for $4.15. I'll do that tomorrow! They responded quickly, very impressed.

I bought the Tamiya Porsche 911 Club Sport Road Version last week at the LHS. I painted it and it was still tacky days later. This morning I was reading something about using an electric oven just barely turned on to "bake" the paint. I even checked the temp with a thermometer. It was at 110. Well you can probably guess what happened next. Yep, it was stupid, but now I know. Anyone know of a good resin body for this kit? Or if Tamiya sells replacement bodies? I seem to be having some issues with building lately. Last month I finished my first build of the year, An Italeri Volvo 940. While taking pictures, I gave it a crash test NHTSA would be proud of. Sometimes you've gotta laugh!

Hope this is the place to post this. I went to the ModelFiesta in San Antonio Saturday and wanted to show my haul. This is the first show I've been to since I got married in 1999. Anway, It wasn't a huge show, but it was fun. I went with the goal of finding a few Porsches and I definitely did that! I also got 10 bagged kits including a Lindberg D-Type Jaguar and a Revell XKE. I feel like I really lucked out.

Has there ever been a conversion kit for the Jeep Honcho to make a Gladiator? I seem vaguely remember one.

Hobby Lobby usually has some of it in their jewelry craft section. Michael's may have it as well. There's probably other places too, but that's where I got mine.

I will! I'll probably do one show room stock. The other? Well some of these were used in SCCA rally, so that is an option.

Thanks to you, my friend, I bought a MIB and also an unbuilt bagged MPC Omni 024 today at a model show! Don't know what I'll do with them, but I couldn't pass them up.

Just curious. I'm wondering if anyone, vendors or civilians on here are planning to be at the Model Show in San Antonio tomorrow or the Showdown in Farmer's Branch, Texas on March 4th. I emailed and they said they had quite a few vendors coming. This will be my first show to attend since 1999 so I'm excited. Yikes. I won't be entering anything of course, but I want to go to see the entries and of course maybe find a few kits I've really been looking for! My wife bought an expensive item from IKEA so she can't say anything about me buying models for a little while!

I like it! This isn't great model as far as detail, but it is a fun model to have and build. I've got this set and a lot of the Tom Daniel kits put away and pull one out when I want to remember the little boy I used to be.

Pretty cool, it looks like a Diablo mixed with a Saleen S7!

Are you going to be lathe turning it? I like the knitting needle idea. I had a friend that used those use those and he would also pour resin into PVC pipe and then put it into the lathe. The PVC would be cut away in the milling process and the resin was easy to work and easy to glue later.

Great work. I actually prefer unkyard builds and restorations over buying an unbuilt kit and putting it together. It just seems more satisfying somehow, if that makes sense.

I went ahead and ordered from Amazon since we already have an account there. They are coming from a vendor called Toy Shop Japan Hobby One. They have a 99% good rating. I just ordered a couple sets of Fujimi wheels. I figured that would be a fairly cheap test of their service. $9 per set and free shipping. Seemed worth a try. I'll let you all know how they do.

I've recently become interested in some of the Japanese kits that can't be found in the US. On top of that, my son is wanting some Anime items. I can order them from Amazon and they are decently priced, but they ship from Japan, China or Australia. The sellers have good ratings, so I'm not worried about that. Since I haven't done this before can anyone advise me? Amazon lists the price and shipping. Is it that straightforward? Are there customs or other fees that I need to know about? I would appreciate any help.
