  1. This is super nice! Love what you are doing.
  2. I just got the 69? Thunderbird with the wild decals for $4.68 on final clearance!
  3. Could there be a stickie added where posts that cover some aspect of the history model kits could be collected? I've seen several over the years and it would be nice to collect them all in one place.
  4. I loved that kit. I built one with the 5.0 from a Mustang kit and made a modern day Cobra!
  5. You did great! Absolutely nailed the look! Now if we can only get them to backdate the current kit and re-release it like this.
  6. This is the one from the 1976 MPC Caprice, right? Really nice!
  7. until

Will there be vendors as well as the show? I need to know whether to lock up my wallet first! LOL
  8. I think I heard that the RX-7 is going to be released this year. I have plans for a couple of those, and I also plan to hit a big model car show later in the year and the rest of these cars are all on my look-out list! I've already got the MB, the Ferrari and the 924 but I can always use more!
  9. It's the Rata de Hierro and I came across it on of all places a Subaru site. It's a LeMons racer built from a Mustang, a T body and an A frame. Probably any of us have those parts in our junk box. It's reminiscent of a certain junkyard dog from the early 60s that took on Europe's finest. Very cool, at least I think so! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9t40W1g1gY
  10. These molds seem to have still been around in the 80s.Who knows, maybe they're still sitting somewhere waiting to be put back in production.
  11. I added my opinion. I really would love to see re-pops of vintage sheets from prior releases.
  12. I loved the way they responded to my question. It made me feel like they were not just working a job but also enjoyed what they did. They came across as genuine. They are good people. I would really love to see whatever info we can collect about these companies gathered somewhere for posterity.
  13. I ask this every once in a while hoping that it will trigger a response. I really would like to build a 55-57 GMC. I know that there used to be one, but it has been long OOP. I've kept watch on eBay and other places with no luck. Anyone have one or thinking of making one?
  14. I worked for a friend's resin kit company for a couple years before I got married in 1999. Other than the cost of making the pattern which was significant, the silicone was the biggest expense. For us, we were making 1/350th ships so the cost of photo etching and metal parts also had to be factored in. A typical kit wholesaled for $150-200.
  15. For what it's worth my parents had a Sunrader in the very early 80s which was a little fancy than the Chinook. It was built on the Toyota cab chassis unit, though they also came on the Datsun chassis. The chassis was basically a beefed up 3/4 ton version of the regular truck. They had dual rear wheels but a standard rear axle. If I remember right it was a regular cab on an extra cab chassis. I do know that there were issues. The weight of the unit left only about 700 pounds for passengers and cargo. Many had to be recalled because the weight actually bent the rear axle to the point of failure. We had ours for several issues without problems. Many happy memories attached to it.
  16. t looks sort of like one of those coach-built cars. Just need to turn that flathead V-8 turned into a V-16!
  17. I want to join even though I'm still working on last years build. I've finished with classes and work has stabilized finally. Have to come up with something. Too bad nobody makes a Subaru GL.
  18. Some people see shipping as extra profit. I bid on a Porsche 911 last year and didn't notice the shipping. The kit was at $11.00. He had shipping set at $20 just for regular post. Luckily someone out bid me.
  19. Motorhome? My dad built a Chinook and a Sunrader using the old Revell Toyota Truck snap fit for the cab. That was years ago and I have no idea what happened to them. No kit was ever made. If you want to scratch one, use any of the Toyota, Datsun or Nissan trucks for the cab and chassis and the rest shouldn't be too hard to make from sheet stock. That's how my dad it.
  20. I finished the car this afternoon and took a couple of pictures. http://i1342.photobucket.com/albums/o767/garyb11/volvoFinished_zps2ngvbynd.png] A little while later I started working on a few final details and some driving lights and a roof rack with cargo. This is what I was aiming for. Anyone want to guess what happened next? RIP Volvo! I found most of the body parts except the grille, headlights and a few other parts. Back in the box. Maybe some day I'll find the rest of the parts..... Technically, I finished one for the new year.
  21. This is very nice! Have you done a how-to? What kind of chassis, any special details, that sort of thing? Would make an interesting thread..
  22. Beautiful!
