This looks great, when I was in the Navy at Corry Station in Pensacola they had a hobby shop that had this kit. I bought and built it twice. I need to start watching for eBay for it. I also know what you mean about finding a kit you love. I am that way about the old Monogram Porsche 911 curbside. It's not well detailed, but everytime I build one, I have fun. I built and rebuilt it as a kid and a couple years ago found it and redid it again. Now I seem to be on a mission to corner the market on them! lol

I just came across this thread and love it! I remember seeing one of these and also a Corvair with a mid-engine conversion when I was little. A couple years ago I read a blog by a guy who had done one of these conversions in real life. It turned out that an LS GM engine weighed not too much more than a Porsche flat six and because it was shorter it actually helped the front/rear balance by a couple of percent as well as adding some 150 horsepower. Now I'm thinking that one of my Porsche models might do well with one of these.

Love it! Beautiful!

I just bought a glue bomb match to this one yesterday on eBay. It's not like I need another Porsche to work on, but it was very cheap and practically begging me to buy it!

What Are You Building Today?
oldcarfan replied to oldcarfan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That's amazing! -
Here in Austin, we are having hot days. It's gotten over 100 for 20-some days. Today it is also super low humidity so I am taking advantage of the good painting weather. I've got a coat of Krylon Smoke Gray on the Porsche and a good coat of Tamiya black on the Cannonball Countach. The low humidity lets it lay down pretty smooth, plus the heat creates a nice oven to bake it! 4 hours and it's dry to the touch. They won't be a perfect job, but they'll be decent 20-scale-footers.

Will they ever re-issue it? MPC Dodge truck.
oldcarfan replied to 426 pack's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I really really would like to see this kit, both the long bed and the stepside kit rereleased. And while I'm commenting, I would like to see the original Dodge window van redone as well. I love those kits! -
1/25 AMT '94 Ford F-150 Lightning Pickup
oldcarfan replied to Casey's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I still have 3 of the original release that I bought and never built, but I will definitely get another just to encourage the kit makers to keep releasing stuff! -
I've been following along. You do good work!

Best option for a donor...
oldcarfan replied to Drago's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have no problems with Foose's kits. The more kits being released the better. My only problem is the same as with Boyd. They take nice pristine original or restored cars and hack them up. If they took cars needing work and made something of them that would be great and I would respect their work a lot more, but the original cars are a very limited commodity and I hate to see them lost. -
Too bad he hasn't written a book! His work looks great. I'm also curious about the kind of people who pay these amounts of money for them. I picture a guy who owns lots of high dollar 1:1 muscle cars in a nice huge garage and collects memorabilia on the side. Almost 20 years ago I had a small business building ships and subs for Woods Hole Oceanographic. They paid about $400 per assembled Alvin in a display case. It wasn't a bad living until I got married and had a kid.

Does Hobby Lobby stock Pegasus products?
oldcarfan replied to GMP440's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
None of the ones near me stock Moebius or Pegasus. Our Hobby Town occasionally has some Pegasus wheels, but that's it. -
I bought this kit at a model show a while back for $5 bucks. Someone had painted the body with cheap spray paint that came off after a half hour soak in Purple stuff. The rest of the parts are on the sprues. The proportions don't quite look right, but it has the front and rear wings. I am trying to decide whether to build it box stock or use the Monogram Countach with the MPC wing to have the Cannonball car. Anyone built this kit? It looks pretty simplified.

Yoday, a couple of clearance Porsche 914s from HL, a clearance Italeri Porsche from HobbyTown and an Alumilite casting kit from HL.

It looks amazing!

Sounds like a good solution. I used the same wheels and tires on mine, but just kept the four lugs.

Not familiar with these, what scale are they?

If they come out with the Cruising Van version with the decals, I'll definitely get a couple. I always wanted a real one when I was a kid!

I built the Revell Toyota snap kit like this a couple years ago. I'll be getting at least a couple of these! -
