New Ford email announcement...
1972coronet replied to BlackSheep214's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
REAL trucks / work vehicles have rubber-vinyl floor mats . Carpeting has no place in a work vehicle . Did it take the moving-of-mountains to get a pickup sans frills and tech ? -
I'm living vicariously through your skills ?. That's an impressive player -- and now a cartridge ! To simplify the cartridge's appearance , you could just paint a 'blank' label on it , as though it's a blank with home recording content .

You're Welcome ( ? )

I'm digging on that front bench seat ! Don't know why Plymouth didn't offer that pattern... Are you planning on adding the vertical 'beadings' ( centre of rear seat reference ) to the front seat ?

I'm more interested in that 'camouflage' wrap ! Wowie Zowie ! Reminds me of the artwork I'd create from 1986 - present ( influenced by the vintage psychedelic artwork in my high school art teacher's classroom ). -

The last generation Ranger --2011 model year ?-- was the best . I had a 2008 as "my" work truck from 2008 until it was crashed-and-totaled by a coworker when I was on holiday in 2014 . It was thee perfect work truck : Vinyl seat with folding arm rest ; rubber mats ; AM/FM ; 5-speed auto ( best shifting auto ever ! ) ; 4.10 ; and a powerful 2.3 litre four with 8 spark plugs ( one intake , one exhaust , IIRC -- like the old Datsun NAPS-Z engine of the 70's-80's ) . FoMoCo's excuse for dropping the Ranger was its price-point . Stupid , college boy reasoning . Now we have that bloated thing instead of the slim , powerful , economical work horse that was its predecessor . Maverick ? Really ? Front-Wheel-Drive ? Seriously ? I smell overpriced , underpowered junk on the horizon... -
Magnifique ! Makes a big difference .

I like that idea a lot . I remember knowing when LAPD was decommissioning cars for auction , as their garages would order a grip of the front doors' trim ( the CVPI's part numbers started with 'F2AZ' , 'F6AZ' , and 'F8AZ' , for 1992 , 1996 , and 1998 respectively . ) . I don't , however , recall GM's part numbers for the 1991-1996 Caprice 9C1s -- oftentimes , those cars would get wheel covers or hubcaps ( depending ) ; the CVPI's were constantly getting replacement mirrors , front bumper cover , rear bumper cover , headlamps , corner lamps , tail lamps , and intake manifolds ( prior to the upgraded & superceded aluminium crossover design of c.2002 ) .

Conspiracy is one-part theory . *WiNk* I was thinking in terms of --- I don't know the proper nomenclature for them --- a separate 'headline' under the same 'section' as "Welcome , Introduce Yourself" or "Tips and Tricks" , etc.

I'll crack a bottle of expensive champagne over this ship... 1.) MPC 1978 Chevy Pickup . For this matter it could be a 1973-1987 ( I prefer '73-'80 ) , and have two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive building options . Additionally , it could be released in both SWB and LWB iterations ; step-side and fleet-side ( hope that I have the proper nomenclature for G.M.'s pickup beds... ) . 2.) 1970-1972 El Camino & 1971-1972 GMC Sprint . C'mon , guys ! Why hasn't anyone produced one of these yet ?? 3.) 1971-1972 Demon . All-new , please ! 4.) 1980-1986 F-Series . All-new ; and , like the Chevy , offer 2WD and 4WD options . 5.) 1968 Chevy II . Make it available with the L-79 , 350 , and 396 engines ; TH-400 option for the 350 & 396 . 6.) 1970 Nova Yenko Deuce . Both 4-speed and TH-400 options . 7.) 1991-1992 ; 1993-1994 ; 1995-1996 9C1 Caprice . The Revell '91 / '92 is a good basis for this iconic police car . 8.) 1998-2011 Crown Victoria CVPI . Offer it in 'blank' form ; bench seat and bucket seats options . That's for now .

Why don't they make a Why Don't They Make _________ section of the forum ? ? ?

Thanks for sharing a better image than that one I dredged-up . Much clearer view of the separation between the cowl / fenders / doors . I , too , would be interested in a resin trans-kit of a 1971 Demon ( I missed the boat on the Missing Link 1972 Demon from 10 years ago... ) . It would appear that a Demon-specific interior would "have to be" created as well : The 1970 Hamtramck Registry - 1971 Dodge Color & Trim Book - Dart (hamtramck-historical.com)

I haven't seen a reissue ( updated issue ? ) of the MPC E-150 Van in over 40 years ! IIRC , the Stunt Van , et al. , was issued in c.1980 , 1981 , after it ran its course as an 'annual' ( under either the Sunrunner [ sic ] or Juke Box Voodoo Snake ( or whatever its name was ) for 1981 , 1982 ) . It would make a great basis for a 2-in-1 or , for this matter , a 4-in-1 kit ! Stock E-150 ( sans the 'teardrop' cutout on the rear-side panels ; but , with an outline faintly 'scribed' inside of the body ) . I'll bet that Round2 would sell a metric tonne of them !

Daisy Duke's Plymouth (DOH)
1972coronet replied to Andrew D the Jolly Roger's topic in WIP: Model Cars
That looks GREAT ! I would've guessed that the colour was FY1 Lemon Twist / Top Banana -- which I believe was reformulated as KY1 for 1974 . **CORRECTION** It is KY5 Blaze Yellow ( a Dodge Division name ) , which "replaced" FY1 after the 1973 model year . The best example that I could find in short order is this '71 Demon ( Dart , Dart Sport , Duster , Valiant are the same ) . Note the separation between the fender and cowl . I scribed these lines on the '75 Dart Sport I'd built 8 years ago ( I no longer have the kit here , as it was a gift for a friend ) .

Dynamite ! Nice work on reshaping those front fenders ! Just curious ; are you planning on scribing the missing panel lines which separate the cowl from the fender / door junction [ see attached image ] ?

I'm going to mention variations of recently restored / reissued kits... 1963 Nova Wagon : New chassis plate with separate subframe , free-of moulded-on exhaust , springs , axle / differential . The LT-1 from the 1970 Z-28 with period custom options , and choice of a TH-400 or 4-speed . Floor shifter of either a Hurst 4-gear or a Dual-Gate ; gauges / tachometer . Four lug custom wheels for the front , and five lugs for the rear ; period correct wheels and tyres , including plain steel wheels for both . A full complement of decals of vintage sponsors . 1964 Cutlass F-85 / 4-4-2 Hardtop and Convertible : This kit already has lots of cool vintage parts as options ( I love those custom wheels ! ) , but could use some c.1969- c.1978 equipment to compliment them : chromed steel wheels ( from the Pontiac S.D. ) with redlines or RWLs ; some Lowrider equipment would be sweet , too ( 13" Cragars ; skinny pinstripe white walls ; organ pipe speakers ; Bellflower Pipes , etc. ) . Throw in the W-27 Olds aluminium differential as an option , along with an updated frame / chassis ( nothing overboard ; just separate suspension and exhaust in simplified form ) .

That is going to look beautiful ! Are you planning on installing an 8-track player under the dash as well ?

Thanks for posting photos of its contents . The pad printed tyres look quite nice , as does the decal sheet . First thing I'm noticing : only one set of wheels (?!?) . What compelled Round2 to block-off that option ? -
worst commercials - i have to mute the tv
1972coronet replied to youpey's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Definitely insurance commercials . If only they'd spend their funds on , I dunno , doing their jobs properly , and providing REAL discounts on an annual-basis ( per one's driving record , and NOT some college kid algorithm ! ) , but no , just spend unlimited funds on stupid advertising and celebrity endorsements . I abhor the countless alcohol commercials . There's some real social-engineering going on with all of the stupid wine , spritzer , beer , liquor , etc. , commercials AND pop culture . Apparently , it's perfectly fashionable to be a "functioning" alcoholic , while remaining hypocritical about my enjoyment of tobacco : " That's a bad habit " , "Second-hand [cigarette] smoke permeates the floors and walls of the apartment which makes me sick" ( a fallacious statement and mantra , but being an irresponsible career drunk is okay for some reason ) . Argumentum ad Populum and Reductio ad Absurdum , indeed . -
Shasta is a beauty queen , @Dave Ambrose! Thank you for being her guardian for all of those years . One day , we shall all meet again .

That gold is spot-on ! Great job on that Colonnade ! I restored a disassembled promo , also a "1975" . It was silver with grey interior ; chassis plate in black ; and black under the chrome ( which made detailing the rub strips easy -- no paint ; just scrape-away ) . Funny how much nicer these "1975" Cutlass look much better in person . For some reason , they don't photograph well ( not knocking your photography ; it's just the way these cars appear-in-photos ) .
