  1. I'm very influenced by parts count. I'm big on the older kits. Even a subject I'm very interested in can be passed over if it appears to be too time consuming and fussy. If you do custom body work and wire and plumb your engine then a high parts count is just the beginning, add more to that. No thanks.
  2. Me likey. Not a lot of love for the big 'birds but I think that's because of the name. Call it anything else and there'd be more warmth. I've always liked these and yours is no different. Two tone is a good idea.
  3. This looks very light and fast. I like what I'm seeing Dominik.
  4. Wow, that's a honey. Put that on the list of most interesting subjects of 2017.
  5. I love that patina and wish I could do it on command for another project. My gut feeling is go with it, but I can understand the obstacles since you still have body work to do.
  6. Every step of this is a pleasant surprise. Among the finest work I think I've seen on this forum. And your photography is fantastic, really helps accentuate your work. All of it is worthy of publication.
  7. Well, that's something you don't see every day. I like the car, yes, but a bang up job on that engine too.
  8. Pretty cool stuff going here. I enjoy seeing what all you knuckleheads are crafting. I've done nothing on the Vette in a month. My bench has been occupied with building three adult Pinewood Derby cars for the annual VFW Derby for the Vets, a benefit that raises money for special requests from the local VA hospital. I'll be updating this thread after this weekend. My GF wants to enter a car and asked me to carve a dog. Challenging but so far so good.
  9. I was at a show this weekend in a rural community where the kids got to make-&-take this Snap Tite Fire Truck. They were surprisingly popular. The kids were able to finish it during the show and five local volunteer fire departments built them in advance as a mini-competition between them. People's choice selected the best truck of the five departments. Might be worth a try with your grandson and they look pretty good built up.
  10. Yes Matija, Fargo and John Carpenter's The Thing. Both close to my heart and ones I have a personal connection to. Fargo, for obvious reasons (check my locator) and because half of it was filmed around here. Kristin Rudrud, who plays the kidnapped wife, still lives here and has been a client of mine. The Thing, because the opening sequences (with the dog) were filmed on the Juneau Ice Field the year I lived in Juneau, AK. The crew stayed at the hotel about four blocks from my house. They chose Juneau because of moderate temps and high likelihood of overcast. But after arrival we got about ten days of lovely sunny weather and the crew got stuck waiting for a cloudy day. The best they got was a hazy day, so they filmed and doctored more overcast in post production. Plus I love the story and for a horror story, there aren't a lot of cheap, contrived plot points.
  11. Oooo, wasn't expecting that. Very tasty.
  12. Kill them with kindness. What goes around, comes around. Always works for me, even when I don't want to do it, it usually pays off.
  13. Of those in the photo, the Volare is the least common/most interesting to me. Looks like you want to build a mopar, but if it doesn't have to be, I'd pick something outside the usual muscle car lineup.
  14. This is so much cleaner than the old issue I've been sitting on for 18-years.
  15. I quite like this. It sure sits nice.
  16. Hey, I like that. Clever.
  17. Okay, now this one has to be my favorite candidate for Most Obscure and unlikely 1/25 kit auto accessory. I'd love to have been a fly on the wall of the meeting where someone said, "...and lets tool up a cool fireplace." "That's good Roger, dam good."
  18. Risky choices but I think it all worked out. I'm trying to decide if BMF will help it. Maybe on select parts.
  19. Nice of you to do that out of respect for your wife. I'm sure she's pleased with it because it turned out pretty nice.
  20. Had a good trade with Againmikewins. Fast, reliable and fair. Good about keeping in touch throughout.
  21. Man, that turned out neat. Smells like gasoline and age.
  22. My dad was an architect. Bought it off the showroom floor, said he loved the lines of it.
  23. Probably the one that was identical to this one. It was our family wagon. I traded my dad an Olympus OM-10 camera for it in the 80's, they were worth about the same. It needed a lot of work and had to get rid of it, but I wish I'd stored it instead until I had a career.
  24. Yeah, a smart looking GP. I remember a young woman come through work with an immaculate teal version, which I've always liked. I told she had a beautiful car. By her squirming, I think she thought I was a weirdo
