Throwing in the towel. Need some advice
martinfan5 replied to Project510's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This is a good idea, talk about a great way to bond with your kids, my daughter is getting closer to being old enough , and she loves painting. I am kind of surprised no one else even acknowledged your post. -

Finally got this one finished up, and I know, I know, I say it a lot, but really, there a few things that I am not happy with on this one, and I feel I could of done better with, up first, I too had some issues with the front/rear bumper piece/fascia not fitting there is a noticeable gap in the rear bumper to body, and got some glue on the body around the joint, the front bumper piece I got to fit better just by putting a lot pressure on it while the glue dried. I had some issues with the side windows not fitting all the way in, which lead to no so clean install on the left side more. Moving on, I messed up the carbon fiber roof decal, that MR Hobby Decal set works toooo good sometimes and I ended up ripping it, I could of saved it, but there few small holes so I decided to just paint it. What else, I never really finished painting all the lines in the engine bay, so that is why there are no engine bay pics, just got lazy. I lost the rear-view mirror, I have no idea where its at. Paint is from Scalefinishes, Mercedes Cardinal Red, wheels are from Plamoz, the ride height was lowered as well.

That is interesting, the licensing was going to run out before the kits went on sale? -

Thank you guys Progress , yay!, I done did it again, I ruined the roof C/F decal, Mark Softner, was working too good and I rip it while I was smoothing it out, so I used Testor's Graphite Met over Mr Black Surfacer and the polished it out, I should of clear coated first I feel.

I admit, I would look to see the Imperial , for some odd reason Ive liked the Imperial , one of my granddad's had a 81-83 Imperial , and as a 14 year old, I thought it was cool car.

Paul, thank you, and I agree, its hard to see in my oh so deceiving photography, there was a large of amount of orange peel/semi rough texture on the clear coat, and a lot of debris, I mean a lot, its the hardener that has dried around the cap area and fell into the bottle, its time for a new bottle. I know , right Bruce , I was thinking that the entire time too, one of the up sides to using the 2k ( urethane clear) is it gives more room to wet sand without burn thru, no doubt if I had use any other type of clear I would of burned thru

Don't bother, its simply a reissue with now incorrect box art, its not going to be a ESV kit.

Thank you everyone, sorry for the long time to reply, life has been hectic. Thank you Ray Thank you Ed, while yes, I sort of did win, I feel like I lost. Thank you Chris Thank you Chris, I have gotten very good at hiding the flaws lol Thank you Richard. Thank you Terry Thank you Lloyd , you are right, these builds do require a lot diligence, and let me tell you it used up all of mine. Thank you Charles. Thank you Jim Thank you Dann, you pretty much nailed it, I would be lying if I said I didnt have those issues, it took I believe two tries to get the windscreen to glued in and to actually stay. I put the windscreen in first, then put the cowl piece in second, then the wiper, found that is the only real way to get it all to work. Thank you John, oh yes, you nailed it all, these are those builds that will bring you back down if you have gotten to full of yourself , it did just that to me lol. Hey Oscar, thank you .

Finally, the third try for both paint and clear was the charm, wet-sanding is next( ok, already done since I took the photo)
