Union Pacific Big Boy 4014 steamed through my town today...
Rodent replied to NitroMarty's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Was through here a while back, but I failed to go. https://www.kcra.com/article/worlds-largest-steam-train-roseville-union-pacific/61550701 -
This is what I read that made me say that: Determining the root cause of a spacecraft issue, however, is not a perfect science. And even if the issues were well understood, the Starliner team had to face the fact that it would never get to inspect the propulsion system on the actual vehicle in space. It was impossible to survey the problem as the Starliner sat attached to the space station. What’s more, the unit that houses the troubled RCS thrusters and the helium leaks — called the service module — was not intended to survive the trip home. Instead, the service module, which is a cylindrical attachment at the bottom of the crew cabin, is designed to be ejected and disposed of on the way back to Earth. And it will do just that on this mission.

Butchery is kinda messy, and sloppy habits can lead to poisoned liverwurst.

Stick a fork in em. Boars Head is done!
Rodent replied to Brutalform's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
The Listeria was found only in liverwurst from a single plant in Virginia. They recalled everything processed in that one plant for a certain window of time out of an abundance of caution. I have no idea how many plants they have or the geographic regions that any of them serve. I don't generally buy Boar's Head because the markets around me don't have it pre-packaged. I don't normally get "sliced to order" at the market that has a deli. -

The last time I was in Ontario, we arrived at a 4-way stop at the same time as a '67 SD396 convertible (like this pic). I have forgotten exactly where it was, but we were near the "wine country" in the vicinity of Niagara On The Lake. I love the way all the cool cars come out of hibernation when the weather is warm in Canada.

Received mine today, Sacramento, CA area. Haven't opened it yet. It's my last issue on this subscription.

We are in the throes of doing a kitchen remodel. Piled in the living room right now is a KitchenAid oven that was in stock at the local Lowes and an induction cooktop that they had to order. Both delivered. Also in the living room is a new garbage disposal that I saved around $80 on by buying it from Amazon on Prime Day. Just arrived today is a Blanco Silgranite sink, also ordered from Lowes online at around $100 discount plus a 10% discount for using my Lowes card with a coupon. I am dismayed by the demise of brick and mortar stores, but by buying online I can get what I want without moving my arse from this chair. It was accidental that the oven was in stock, but none of this other stuff was anywhere near here and would have been ordered if I drove to the store. I see the same thing with models. I have several new-ish releases from Round 2 and Revell that I have purchased online (from a LHS that isn't local to me) because my LHS never seemed to get them. I have never seen either the 65 or 68 GTO on the LHS shelf either.

Those were Montereys. LAPD used the mid-sized Montego with a 351C-4V. I have no idea why Webb had the boys continue to drive the '69 Belvedere in 1970, unless he had an issue with Ford or something.

If I can catch them, and if they would survive the trip by USPS from Sacramento to Bakersfield, I could ship you a dozen or so. They have stripped most of the bark off of a 30 year old Japanese Maple and basically killed it. Too bad that the resident coyotes prefer cats to squirrels.

Lindberg 53 Ford Victoria transmission
Rodent replied to slownlow's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
IIRC, the cooler in the radiator was added to help bring down passenger compartment heat, not to "cheapen" them. That is also why Ford added the air vents in the Thunderbird front fenders for 1956. -
Wild turkey "exhaust" as Bill calls it. It's amazing how much they can poop.

One for the model railroaders
Rodent replied to Earl Marischal's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Look at one of your squarebody models. The tank(s) were outside of the frame rails and were the "crash attenuators" in a t-bone crash. I am sure that more than a few caused fires when they ruptured, but I agree that explosions were probably fairly rare. I had a '77 SWB 4x4 for about 6 years during the OMG issgonnablowuppanic years, and I am still here ? -

Rodent replied to Earl Marischal's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The fix also included either a redesigned filler pipe or a redesigned attachment point to the quarter panel (I forgot which). This was designed to make the filler detach from the quarter panel before detaching from the tank and spilling fuel. -
I have the new '64 Malibu Craftsman and it has a steering wheel on a tree and a loose one in the bag. Maybe this is how they are dealing with the issue.....

68 and 69 Dodge Charger engine?
Rodent replied to slusher's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
An ex-colleague of mine owned a slant 6 '69 Charger with 3 on the tree in the early 2000s. That is the only one that I am aware of that I personally saw.
