The Exploders have the 4.0 OHV which could probably be modified to be the 4.0 SOHC in the later models and in in the Mustang. You can probably 3D print what you need.

The acetone I use for brush cleaning is fairly low odor and seems to work with all the types of paint I use.

Yes, this generation Mustang had Takata-sourced airbags. It was probably taken care of a long time ago, but definitely worthwhile to make sure.
-
Jim, since you got that through a used car dealer and its history is probably unknown, it's worth the peace of mind to run the VIN to make sure the Takata airbag recall has been taken care of, as well as any others. https://www.ford.com/support/category/service-maintenance/frequently-asked-questions-regarding-takata-airbag-inflator-recalls/

What did you see on the road today?
Rodent replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Is this a "processing plant" to import these and sell them to new owners in states where they can actually be registered for street use? -
Yeah, one of the local TV news stations had a headline up for most of the morning about "suspected catalytic converter arrested after pursuit". Later in the day, I noticed that they added the word "thieves" to it.

My 77 K1500 short box 400 got 12 city, 12 highway, and 12 towing. -
Copycat automotive design.

I am not sure where the majority of your tourists are from, but here in 'Murica we learn at an early age to look left when crossing the street, then look right as you start to step out. When visiting countries with opposite rules of the road, it takes a bit to unlearn that so you look right then left. The veer left/veer right thing with oncoming pedestrians and folks on the stairs takes a bit to get rewired in the brain as well. I was amused to see the LOOK signs with the right arrow at crossings in Ireland. They told us it was for the stupid Germans, but I am sure they told the Germans it was for the stupid Americans. The Wet Paint sign is a stroke of genius. -

Pretty sure that a K30 crew cab dually does drink (petrol) like a fish. My thoughts were that the plate was a comment on its hill-climbing ability, but maybe you are on the right track. -
I had one of these that I re-homed. I did make a scan of the black decals. If you have a way to print a new set, they are definitely in better shape than yours.

Saw this old workhorse at the market. I think it would be shocking to see what it would bring on Bring A Trailer. -

Are you going to have to buy a new sticker every year, or are you going to register your models PNO? -
At Walmart (at least one store)
Rodent replied to Classicgas's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I totally understand. We don't really have that issue here, but I realize that it is an issue elsewhere. I don't shop there that often. I have to drive a bit to get to a SuperCenter, or stop on the way home from the office (which is getting more often). My closest WalMart is one of the early small footprint stores, but it has groceries. I may save $1 on the socks which doesn't really register in the bank account, but saving $30 on three jugs of motor oil is huge if all three cars need servicing at the same time. I can also get a Motorcraft filter for the Ford and an ACDelco filter for the Chevy very cheaply there. Haven't seen models here, but haven't been to a Supercenter in a long time either. -

Have to say that when you are short on time and need something for dinner, beer, socks, shampoo, deodorant, potting soil, a USB thumb drive, and a 5qt jug of motor oil it's pretty handy and they generally have the best price around for all of the named items. They are around $10 cheaper for the motor oil than the auto parts places. I can generally ignore the people. -

Hip Hip Hurray for the genius DMV clerks that missed that they were all 1965s by VIN. -
Mustang-What Year Is This One
Rodent replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
There is actually no such thing as a "1964 1/2" Mustang, but there are literally dozens of differences between the early build cars and the cars built during the traditional 1965 build year. That said, I use the term as well, usually with air quotes if I am around Mustang people. The "64 1/2" cars had generators but that wasn't the only difference. Engine choices were the 170 six, 260-2v, and a 9.0:1 289-4v. Later early builds had the option of the solid lifter 289 271 hp. Some 6-cylinder cars had 13" (4-bolt) wheels. I have heard of 260 cars with 13 inch 5-bolts like a 1963 Falcon 260, but I have never seen one. Heater blower switch was different Charge light said "GEN" Some really early cars had a mostly flat carpet with a vinyl piece between the carpet and the sill panel Horns were different, the generator cars had huge ones mounted in a different place than smaller horns on later cars. Core support had battery cooling slots due to the way that generators abuse batteries. The "Mustang" front fender emblem was a different length than the "1965" and 1966 cars. Some/most/many of the 1964 1/2 hoods had a short part of the lip that protruded down. Later cars were rolled. Lip protruded far enough that early cars had different headlamp housings castings to clear. A great deal of the wiring harness was different. The early cars had ground wires on some circuits that were replaced by direct body grounds on later cars. Early cars had the "dented" passenger shock tower that the Falcon grew in 1963 for V8 generator clearance. I am not really sure when that stamping went out of production, but I have seen it on alternator cars. Early cars had a brake lamp pressure switch on the master cylinder. Later cars were on the pedal. "Actual" 1965 cars had the choice of the 200 six, a 289-2v, and a high compression 289-4v, plus the HiPo As was pointed out, the 1964 1/2 and 1965 cars had a rectangular speedometer, but the 1965 GTs and 1965 cars with the interior decor option (pony interior) had a five-dial cluster that was similar to the 1966, but different. I am sure that there is more, but I probably pushed it out of my brain. -
Mustang-What Year Is This One
Rodent replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Ugh. No. It means it is a 1966 model year. Fact check much, Meghan? The first number of the VIN will tell you the year it was constructed. A six, for example, indicates that the vehicle was manufactured in 1966. -
Articles I have been reading have also called them clones, because none of them started out as Hemis and none were 1971s. Not that they weren't originally convertibles.

Front Grilles, Accent with Black
Rodent replied to RT6PK's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
It may take 4-5 coats for the desired outcome, but the Tamiya Panel Line Accent will flow off of the high spots of the grille and settle in the crevices. As long as you keep the grill relative level during application and drying, you shouldn't need to do any wiping. -
Thanks Rex, I wasn't familiar with that one. Didn't realize that it was 1/18.
