I am almost afraid to open up the thread on paint strippers.....

A MKZ is a fancy Fusion. With a sunroof, it won't have much headroom at all for someone your size.

I am kind of an xxx sometimes, and enjoy seeing stupid people suffer. I have lived in one of the most amazing spaces I have ever been exposed to for 28 years now. A beautiful river parkway with lots of wildlife, salmon runs every fall, wild turkeys, coyotes, herons, raccoons, and bald eagle nests just a few miles upstream, etc. Lots of folks from the area that aren't lucky enough to be able to walk over drive there every day to enjoy it. Especially the river rafters. Cool. A one day pass costs $5 for a regular vehicle. A little more for a vehicle with a trailered boat or a kayak, raft, etc. There are small launching fees that amount to much less than the beer in the cooler. A basic 1 year park pass for all of the county parks is $50. Hang it on the mirror, no issues. If you are a disabled veteran, low income, blah blah it's much less. We went for a walk this afternoon and I was pleased to see four vehicles in the big parking lot that purchased the $57 1 day parking plan. Let me explain what that is. That is what is costs to park when you ignore the $5/day plan and decide that you don't need to pay at all. When the county folks or the rangers see y'all doing that, you get a $57 parking ticket. And you can't register your car again until you pay your parking tickets.

'69 Dart GTS...just like I would have built it in '69
Rodent replied to pack rat's topic in Model Cars
Looks nice Mike. I am of an age that I would have seen the 1:1s prowling the late 1970s high school parking lots. I think that all it needs is some cuts and shreds in the rear tire sidewalls from hitting the fender lips when the owner had three friends in the back seat. Hope the rear shocks are white with Hi-Jacker logos on them. -

Yes, in the case of my '69 I wanted to replicate an L78/L89, so I assembled the block, pan, and front cover and used 1:1 engine paint over Tamiya pink primer. The heads, intake, and transmission were later painted aluminum. I actually used three types of aluminum paint, but it all kind of wound up the same color. The carburetor is a mixture to try to replicate a Holley. Exhaust manifolds are painted steel, but aren't installed yet. I need to drill the heads for plug wires.

We haven't received a newspaper for many years. Finally figured out that we were paying ~$700/year to read news that had been available on the internet days before, comics we could read online for free, and a ton of ads. That said, my mom's youngest brother tried to train his dog to bring in the newspaper, but there was a problem. He lived in So Cal at the time and his dog was a miniature shorthaired Dachshund. Most days, the newspaper outweighed her by two or three times. It was funny to see. The daily ritual was going outside with a pocket full of rubber bands. Newspaper was broken down into sections and each was rolled up with a rubber band. Front door was left open. Bianca would grab each section and take it inside. Each section was worth a treat. She rolled over on her back and got a belly rub when the entire paper was inside. She was very tired and full of treats by the time her work was done on Sundays. Made my smile to think of her, my departed uncle, and the two months I spent there when I was 13.

Looks nice Mike. Also on my to-do list is to paint the wheels like yours are.

We have a huge game room at work. I want to build something like this when we return to the office. It would be huge fun since we are a group of over aged children working for an automotive company.

Build it the way that you want to, then glue a dusty car cover over it. ?

With advice from an ophthalmologic surgeon. -
OK, so I built mine in 1975 or so. I am going to have to dig it out. I was planning on a redo anyway.

That doesn't look right. Something is broken or cut out. I don't have my built one at hand right now to look at.

1/25 AMT 1964 Olds Cutlass F85 Convertible
Rodent replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Got mine today and it has the small sink marks on the trunk lid. Better than I expected, but not something I want to spend even 10 minutes on with a "new" tool. Still haven't decided on a color or build style. -
Thanks Dans. Yes, I have a few nearby stores that sell g-strings. What size is the one in the pic? ? Dan C's example that would look pretty good mounted on a round bead on top of a flat round base for my use. The coil isn't quite long enough, but I think it would look better than plastic. I built MPC and AMT kits in the 80s, so I probably have some "baseball bat" CB antennas somewhere, but I wasn't able to find any that had a decent base. Second issue is making a gutter clip so that the car will fit in its case. And drilling/pinning to a diecast.

Anyone know where I could get an old school 1/24-25 whip antenna like this, or at least a decent base that I can drill and use a piece of wire for the mast? TIA
