Don’t even ask why! I dug into that big box of Jeep parts one more time. This is just for fun, without a lot of detail just to see what I can build from scraps.. Again I pulled the worst body out of the box, another major glue bomb. I had to pry a backseat out of the bed. I had a chassis but no suspension. I stole the springs from a Revell 1950 Ford pickup. I had a rear from a Jeepster. It became 2wd with a straight front axle. The axles are below the springs per the 50 Ford arrangement. Wheels are from AMT 1953 Ford pickup kit. Body cleaned up fairly well and sits in white primer here. Bed was too gluey, so I added some diamond plate. Painted with Krylon Colormaster Satin Pistachio that I got at Ollies for a buck just because I thought it was an interesting color. Windshield frame was broken already so I chopped 5 inches out of it and since it had no mounting parts I just glued it in place. Engine came from AMT Falcon Modified Stocker and intake was for the V8 in an early Jeepster kit. It had a big open void in the center so I made a little fuel log. So far so good! Odd color and all!

If I take parts from an otherwise complete kit, I put a note in the box. Usually on the back of an old business card. Because I will not remember! -

Last week we had heavy snow on top of ice. I tried to back my Hyundai Elantra down the driveway and slid off to the side, and one wheel hit the lawn. I made a big mess of the grass with spinning my wheels trying to get out. I eventually gave up and decided to pull the car out with my Buick. I'm under my Hyundai front end hooking the chain to the front chassis member. My wife looks out the window and sees me under the car with my legs moving, as I scooted myself under the car. She thinks I ran myself over and runs out in her slippers. She comes running up to me shouting my name, I let her know I'm okay... mad and wet at that point but okay... I'm just glad she didn't jump in the car and run me over trying to save me! (yes I was able to pull it out with the Buick)

In the past I've put decals on straight, but knocked them askey with the brush used to apply the setting solution. Maybe that's what happened here. What decals do you need now?

Makes me chuckle.. remember a few years back the post office was going to stop Saturday delivery? Now they’re on 7 days as are all the other services. Before the pandemic we were at my daughter’s condo on A Sunday and delivery trucks were in the lot all day long.. in fact she got two different Amazon packages a few hrs apart!

I’m pulling my second model out of a Jeep parts bag I bought at a show a long time ago. There may be at least another one in there yet! -
When you get your new windshield, do not use the glue you used previously. Here’s a few options for clear glass.. I got this at Michael’s in the scrap book dept. double sided clear tape. Comes in different widths. And two choices of glues made for glass. The Evergreen brand is at Hobby Lobby. I will often tape across the top edge of windshield and then glue down remaining edges. Glue dries clear, any smears come off with water without damaging your glass

Yes! When one gets to the point where you instantly know exactly what to do to scratch build it! My mentor Joe Cavorley used to say that everything is just a series of shapes! -

Funny weather all around. 46 degrees near Philadelphia today, but back to 20s and 30s for the rest of the week, and two more snows! We have a gas fireplace to heat the house if needed, but it has an electric starter! So when we think we may lose power we just turn it on.

Bingo! Thanks Mark! That chassis has been sitting out maybe a year! Now it’s in the Falcon box!

Too much information

This chassis has been sitting out on my side bench a long time.. can someone tell me what kit it belongs to? Thanks!

Gorgeous Alan! Love the orange and your typical right hand drive conversion! And your headlight story... I’m working on a Jeep and couldn’t find the windshield frame. Looked everywhere, even swept the model room and searched under all the furniture. Finally gave up and started to draw a replacement on plastic sheet.. and suddenly there it was in my parts box, right on top! And I swear I went through that box twice! I’ll play! Since Alan mentioned the Mono 1:24, here’s my latest built during the 24 Hour Build. I’ve been tweaking it since and a board member sent me a pair of the original rear slicks I was missing. Too much snow to take my final photos!

Playing in the junk box again.. What a mess! Some kid let loose with a full tube of glue! The back seat was near welded in there. I do have two much cleaner bodies, but took this as a challenge. I had a chassis but no suspension. The four leaf springs are from 50 Ford pick up kit. I made a rear from a broken one, used the center pumpkin and made the axles from Evergreen tube. Front is a straight axle.. 2 WD truck. Primed and near ready for some paint. I dealt with the glue in the bed by sanding as flat as possible and adding diamond plate. I had a piece in my scrap box just the right size.
