  1. Just some of the Falcon Rancheros! All three restored from junkers..
  2. Thanks Tim! Cool model and history! The past year or two I’ve been working on finishing up old projects that have sat forever myself.
  3. My father was a big audio nut so I always had access to the best equipment. I was taught early how to take care of my LPs so I still have them all in good condition. We never owned 8 Tracks.. we went right to cassettes, with decks in our cars. Never bought any prerecorded, I would record two albums onto a C90. If one got damaged or lost, no problem I still had the albums at home. Just record a new one! When CDs appeared and everyone was dumping their records, I was buying! I collected most every album I ever wanted on vinyl, at a dollar or two apiece. About the same time CDs appeared, technology also gave us the programable turn table. It was limited to the one record side, but you could pick the tracks you wanted to hear in any order. It worked well but would get confused on live albums where there was applause or talking between songs. I still have mine. Eventually I went to CDs and have a lot of those too.
  4. You can watch! There’s a lot of spectators who comment on the progress posts and cheer people on!
  5. Technology put upon us at my house.. My thermostats are online. I can see what temperature my house is, and turn on heat or ac remotely. I have a Sleepnumber bed. My phone app will tell me how I slept. It also lets me know if someone is in my bed! My garage door opener is on my phone too. I don’t have a door remote, it’s on my phone. I can open and shut my door from anywhere, and see if it’s open or shut. I can see history, so I know my wife went to the store. I turned off the ping when it happens.
  6. The 24 Hour Build is an annual event every January. Some groups get together, but majority build from their homes and participate on the Facebook page. The event runs from noon on Saturday to noon on Sunday. Your goal is to build a credible model start to finish within the 24 hours! It’s not a contest to finish first, it’s a personal challenge to see if you can do it. Cheating is only cheating yourself! Participants post progress the whole time, it’s fun to post pix at 3am and have people instantly comment. It is fun and rewarding to participate. I’ve learned to build more systematically, and a bit faster. Some years if you strategize right you finish and other years you learn what to do the next time! https://m.facebook.com/groups/2490663337730074/?ref=bookmarks
  7. My one built Falcon. The Little Debbie Snack Cake sponsored stocker! I own a lot of the old annuals, but haven’t done anything with then just yet! I do have Rancheros if allowed!
  8. I had that same adherence and scratching issue when during the 24 Hour Build I thought I could just spray Tamiya RC colors gray over older MPC kit plastic. It came off just like your picture. I had used the same gray over primer before without issues. Then I cleaned up and sprayed a second body with Duplicolor primer gray. I reached for the Tamiya gray and realized the primer was already the color I needed! Then I just used Tamiya clear over it and that was just fine!
  9. And beware of customer surveys. Most of those are scams. They ask a few easy questions then offer you a reward, usually involving fees to get the free items.
  10. Great build of an old kit we fondly remember! When I was 13 I built mine, only had Christmas green spray paint, so that was the color. The entire car went together well in two evenings. I remembered being so pleased with it!
  11. Thought Willie Nelson
  12. Welcome! When I got back to modeling as an adult, my first attempt looked like a teen built it because that was all I knew! Once with adult peers, I had mentors with tons of advice and my models got better quickly! Some of it was earned skill from working at it, but a lot of it was just learning about new tools, supplies and materials, with some simple tricks that I just hadn’t thought of on my own.
  13. I get those emails from banks that I don’t ever have accounts at. Delete!
  14. Short answer- Yes you can use Duplicolor primer. In fact it’s all I use. Generally I use the gray, but recently picked up the white to use under light colors.
  15. Stopped in Hobby Lobby today, 40% off sale and grabbed these.
  16. Sending splinters flying
  17. Snow and rain had stopped when I got up this morning. Someone had already plowed my sidewalk.. we usually do that on my street, whoever gets out first walks their snowblower the length of our block. A good thing because mine won’t start! I did park the car on the driveway down near the street. I did have to shovel a path to it and the driveway behind it to the street. Since it rained on top of the snow it was very heavy to move. Ugh!
  18. Unless you’re kinky
  19. The pride of Dunder Miflin!
  20. Amazing work and results!
  21. Fruit of the Evening - Detailed out the battery for the Jeepster. According to MPC you merely glue the battery to the firewall. That would be okay for some folks, and they’d probably be done building by now! For me, I had to make the tray the Jeepster battery sits in from scrap thin plastic sheet bits. Then while the paint was drying, I found a few images of batteries and scaled down the labels to fit. And now I’m happy! I don’t care if anyone else notices, I know it’s there! I also cut and installed a windshield and vent wings from Evergreen clear plastic sheet. I made enough for all three Jeepsters I have planned while at it. I also have battery labels for four different brands scaled and printed. They’ll show up on my future builds. Onward...
  22. Yea, fricken snow in the Philly burbs. Nowhere near the 6 to 12 feet predicted and now it’s raining!
  23. I have Jeepsters spread out on my table next to my work bench. There is indeed a fire extinguisher in the chrome tree. I’m not using it and it’s no bother at all to toss in the mail. PM me your addy and it’s on it’s way!
