  1. Here’s the All American resin cab. I know Art mastered this from the Specast sedan delivery before they did the pickup. Judge for yourself, it doesn’t look like he modified the windshield area to me.
  2. My favorite year too! But followed by 1957 and 1955 being my least favorite! Like I said earlier everyone likes 'em but in different order! From the day this kit came out, it was a known thing.... I believe it's that the pan sticks out too much. I do want to build one and when I eventually do I will address the issue. When I build a replica of my old '56 that's not a problem since it had no front bumper! ?
  3. Love it Ray! That is too cool. I did the same thing with a Model A Woody Wagon. I made mine into a woody pickup that I like enough, that when I win the lottery I will have it built in 1:1
  4. Ha! At least this Beretta is just a model and nothing should fall off (or it's your fault for not gluing it good! ? ) American cars of that era were infuriating! We had a Fox Capri that was just plagued with issues. It also had the horn button on the blinker stalk. When ever you made a left turn, the horn would honk! Traded that haunted mess off on a Nissan Stanza and never looked back!
  5. Which is why I don't carry one at all. During normal times I travel a lot on business. I used to run a lot of remote conferences. I would send the printing ahead to a local Staples, plus a supply order. I would usually get desk supplies like office scissors. I also had all the swag... shirts, bags, awards.. shipped directly to the hotel. At the end, I'd prepare large boxes to ship back and I'd drop anything I couldn't fly home with in the boxes, including the scissors. I got home from one of the conferences held in Florida and dumped the contents of my carry on computer bag on my bed... the scissors popped out! Yes, that bag went through the metal detector and all!
  6. Beretta reference photo. I took the photo on St Thomas many years ago
  7. Yes! I need a couple of them! One as a camper and one to build as a memory.. it came up recently on the Pirmasens Germany US Army Post board on Facebook. Back when I lived on the post from 1969-72 there was Pete the vegetable man who drove around post, especially near the housing areas and even near our school selling vegetables, fruit and candy. As a kid we bought Haribo brand Gummi candy (marketed as Gummy in the USA). Aside from the trademark bears, there were other flavors and shapes, some as loose candy. Pete would count them out into a paper cone. As you have figured by now, Pete vended from a green and white window van. I’d like to build it.
  8. Interesting views on the Tri-Fives! Everyone likes one of the years best! I owned a 1:1 56 back in the day? Why a 56? Because that was the opportunity presented to me at the time.. a rust free 6 cylinder 2 door sedan with less than 60,000 miles on it, bought direct from the lil ole lady who bought it new... I did learn to appreciate it as the forgotten year as both the 55 and 57 got a lot more attention
  9. Great work on the windshield, gasket and all!
  10. When I first got back to the hobby some 30 years ago, the original AMT version was available cheap at shows so I had a few. Don Banes used a body for a painting demo at the old Jersey Shore Model Car Club. He passed it off to me and I used it for a demo on opening doors. Someone got excited about building it with working doors so I have it to them. I don’t remember who that was and have wondered if he ever did that project. Back then I had looked at this kit with thoughts of building a Dodge Omni 4 door.
  11. “Factory reconditioned” - wipe the disk, vacuum the snots and dandruff out of the keyboard. My current laptop at home is a factory reconditioned Asus eBay Deal if the Day for $150. It’s worked fine for a few years now
  12. I owned this one back in the day! Actually owned it twice but that’s a long story. And I only have one picture. You can see the back corner of my 65 Barracuda and tail end of my 66 Valiant in the driveway. I do have to build a copy of this car one of these days!
  13. I have an original Mattel Vac-u-form unit bought on eBay many years ago. There is / was a company making the perforated sheets. Mattel did try to bring back Vac-u-form in the 1980s, but with some modern safety restraints. Instead of a hot plate it had a 60 watt light bulb. The entire operation was inside the unit so little hands couldn’t get burnt. As such, the template of say the little race car slid into the side of it. That limited it to making the toys they gave you the template for, making it useless to us.
  14. Thanks for the visual! They are close enough to update the 60 with a 59.
  15. Life does move on! The old Pyro factory in Union, NJ is the site of a Home Depot. We also had a GM plant in Linden and a Ford plant right up Route One in Edison.. both gone and replaced with shopping centers!
  16. I wouldn’t be doing extensive bodywork like shortening it. The whole essence of TROG is low dollar, home garage built cars with a high fun factor!
  17. Early on I taught my kids how to regift the less desirable candy.. sort it out from their hoard, put it in a Halloween bag and the next kid to ring our bell got it!
  18. I built three of this pickup this year for a project. Here’s a suggestion.. see gauges in photos below. They are just paper cut to size with a drop of clear canopy cement over them. You can either copy your own or I believe I have an original sheet I can email to you.
