Happy New Year Rich! See you in the spring!

Do you keep your instructions?
Tom Geiger replied to VanSpence's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Another pack rat here! I save instruction sheets, boxes and decals. I will toss ‘em when I have multiples or in poor condition. -
Nice stuff... I see you have a thing for sedan pickups too!

Can we say you are obsessed? ? Very nice builds, hope to see you in NJ in the spring!

I wouldn't fuss so much about the gold area. I just painted mine with Testors gold paint, prior to applying the foil so that the cut foil line would define the space. When I do a wagon I will do the same.

Nice work! I got five done this year too. I'd rather have five nice ones I can be proud of than a lotta bad models! ?

Hey Brian! Those MPC cars from that era actually were pretty decent kits. And they can be bought for a song today! Enjoy!

I will buy at least one, for the 4 door reason, not the Supernatural connection. As I build a year group of 1960s Chevys I'd like to see a bunch of different body styles. I have a '65 resin wagon, and now a 4 door hardtop.

I finished up FIVE models this year. That beats many other years for me. And I'll say "finished up" because I've been on a tear to get things on my unfinished model shelf done! So here we go.... My first build of the year was this Ford Model A woody pickup built from the Monogram woody wagon. I built it as part of the 24 Hour Build and yes, completed it within the time limits! If you haven't participated in this build, it's a lot of fun and teaches you to build a bit more systematic and quicker. It's coming up in January! I had two 1950 Ford pickup projects languishing in the same box. I pulled this one out and decided to finish it by the March Philadelphia NNL. And yes I got it there! I built this Datsun pickup to show solidarity with my friends at Diversified Cruiserz, and I did get 'er done to participate in their diorama at NNL East ! This is the old MPC Datsun pickup built over the Foose Ford pickup chassis. It was a lotta fun! Remember I said there were two 1950 Ford pickups in the box? Here's the other one. This is an island tour jitney like the ones that tool around St Thomas. Yes, the trucks we saw there were modern day vehicles, but I couldn't help but wonder what they looked like back in the day. So here we have it. My goal was to have this one at the Liars Model Car Challenge on Long Island in November. Got it there! And it took 3rd Place in Light Commercial. And my final build of the year, also debuting at the Liars Show is the Dog House Camper. This is another long suffering project that wasn't finished because I was searching for a way to not have to permanently lock in the interior. This year I gave up on that and finished it. It also took a Third Place award at Liars, in the "Shelf Model - Street" category. So that's my year. I have two models about ready to be pushed off the bench, but decided not to rush them to make this body count. I'm done for the year!

The roof is all basswood. It's like balsa but a tighter grain that holds shape over the years much better. Shingles are basswood too, done just like you would shingle a real roof. I am honored and pleased to help! You have taken my seating arrangement to a new level! And that is very cool! -
And I remember them saying that the truck's engine wasn't up to modern roads so they replaced it with a modern British Ford 4 cylinder. I enjoyed that show! There is a company in New Jersey importing and rebuilding these into food trucks and other business vehicles

"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!
Tom Geiger replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Today I got the decals designed and printed. The car is a bit from done, I haven't painted the body past primer yet. I thought I had some time but my daughter called today and invited us to come for New Year's Eve and Day! So I don't think I'm going to make it by the 1st! Maybe in the next week, it's so near done! -

Looks like a good year to me! -
Vince, my deepest condolences to you and your family.

Great work this year! I love that Little Tykes car, looks like something the Japanese would do for their home market. And that Rambler would do well in the market again today if Round 2 has the tool. You don't see them for sale anywhere!

My grandfather did the same thing. '63 Bel Air 4 door sedan, straight six, three on the tree! I even found an old family letter from my father to my grandfather telling him to order the 283 automatic car for like $100 more! In 1970 he bought his first Ford LTD, with automatic and air. I don't know what got into him! Then he bought the same car over and over... gold LTD, until his last car in 1989.
