  1. RMR actually does this in resin
  2. All the time! I’m not home and on my phone, but here’s an original Blue Beetle I bought in September and a photo of it this week. I finished it last night but haven’t taken any pics just yet!
  3. I use mostly lacquers, I’ll spray a bit into small bathroom paper cups. I only use a bit of paint on a brush as Mark described and immediately clean the brush in lacquer thinner. Never leave the brush standing on its bristles in the jar, they will bend to the side and stay that away. I will roll the cleaned brush on fresh paper towel. I also keep my painting brushes separate from my weathering brushes as those see harder service. I clip the tips on those to mark them.
  4. Tri-State Scale Model Car Club meets in Perth Amboy, NJ which is right off the Outerbridge Crossing. We are also walking distance from Perth Amboy train station. info at tssmcc.com
  5. Today was busy for me! The January meeting of TSSMCC is when we stamp and label the NNL East postcards. Everyone pitches in and it gets done quick. Then Tim and I drove them to a post office that is open late so it’s done! And that’s what I did for the hobby today! I did bring the completed Blue Beetle to the meeting too.
  6. Very nice! Love the conversion.
  7. I have the same Chrysler and just noticed some very minor rash on the upper surfaces of the nose. Not a big deal right now, just looks like some dust in the paint. eBay offers - I don't think sellers know how to set these properly. A while back I saw a kit with "Make Offer" on it and went three rounds with the offers being rejected. My last offer was $5 less than the $100 asking price. So I forgot about it. A week later it expired and got relisted for $60, which was less than my first offer! So I grabbed it with the "Buy It Now".
  8. My daughter is a first grade teacher and mother to my three grandchildren.... a two year old and twin six month olds! Schools are a breeding facility for all kinds of illness, so we have all gotten our flu shots to protect the babies!
  9. That is a great kit Ray! I find older releases at shows as parts cars to convert my older Valiants.
  10. Welcome Andrew. I live in Pennsylvania but am from New Jersey. For a bunch of years, I went to Denver area on business a few times a year. Beautiful country!
  11. I've always wanted one of the Monogram Land Rovers but haven't been successful in finding one. The prices went ballistic and a bit more than I wished to pay! I do have one of the new ROG kits and hope to do it justice.
  12. I believe he's "Chad"..... Shad is a fish! ?
  13. I did finish my current project, the Monogram Model A Blue Beetle restoration of an old original. I finished it this evening, and will take photos as I can this weekend! So onward with the Trabbie! I did create the side decals this past week. Actually did them twice to get them to my liking. Then (gasp!) I noticed the round on the back hatch! That's an 80 kph, speed limit designation for this slow poke vehicle... that's 50 mph to us Americans. I can make decals, no worries, and do have white decal stock. My issue was how I was going to cut that perfect circle! I went down to the basement and pulled out my ancient drafting tools. Yes, I have an old hard plastic clear circle template. I had an idea... I cut reverse circles in Tamiya tape, that was taped to the glass on my work bench top. I did get one good enough to place on the body... and then masked off everything else, and sprayed the open center white. And it worked! So now I just need to make an "80" the appropriate size on clear decal stock and pop it into the center of the painted circle. Yea me!
  14. I'd love to attend NNL West and will some day but this is not the year! ☹️ Hope to see you soon Art, you're always welcome to come east again!
  15. Gotta love the C1 products! Yes, he's in England but a vendor at NNL East every year! And me? I spent both yesterday and today at the New Jersey house doing tasks needed to get it ready for closing! I did come home this evening and put the finishing touches on the Blue Beetle. It's sitting on the shelf with my other Monogram Model A's (it's a disease I'll tell ya!) and will be at the TSSMCC club meeting tomorrow! First finish of the year! Onward to the Trabbie!
  16. The Monogram Ramcharger is 1/24 scale, so the wheels will be big in 1/25... which could be a good thing depending on your desires!
  17. Looks great! I was following your build thread. Looking forward to seeing this car at NNL East!
  18. The eBay free upgrade folks are out there! I used to sell old car brochures on eBay. One time I sold a 1980s Firebird brochure to a guy who immediately complained that it was in horrible condition and was sending it back. Confusing to me since I had a factory case of these, and every time I sold one I'd pull a factory mint fresh one from the box. His return arrives and the brochure he sent me looked like a cow licked it. Lots of damage on the cover from something wet. All bent up and in horrible condition. I wrote back with a photo of my factory case of brochures and told him to pound salt. Never heard back!
  19. Agreed! My wife comes from a family of sports fans and tv watchers. They do not get my hobbies at all. I once had her older brother in my model room for a visit. He blurted out that this was WORK and why did I want to do work in my down time? His downtime is spent resting on the couch.
  20. Hey Jim! I just put your show on our NNL East show calendar on our website!
  21. Very cool! I had both a 4 door and a 2 door back in the day!
  22. Cool model! Especially the rear box failure!
  23. Nice work! I need to pick one up. The '60-61 Ranchero could use the entire chassis from this kit! The AMT '67 Mustang has a nice chassis under it with a similar engine compartment.
  24. Here's two examples of primer as a final color... above Ranchero was primed with Duplicolor white primer, then the doors were masked off while the rest of the car got Duplicolor black. I applied the decals and then gave the entire car a clear coat. This worked out very well. This one was build for the 24 Hour Build. I had primed the entire vehicle with Duplicolor primer gray. As I reached for gray paints that weren't exactly right, it dawned on me. The primer was already the color I wanted. So I just gave it a Tamiya clear coat. Just food for thought.
