  1. We moved the NNL East and TSSMCC sites, all on one account, to the https server at our service provider. It costs a bit more. We did so because we kept having to remove bits of malware placed on our sites. No problem since!
  2. It's an AMT kit, and AMT is owned by Tom Lowe who is a very astute licensing guy for TV and movie memorabilia. If there's a market, he'll reissue it. We can be pretty sure it still exists, they even had the Jolly Roger version parts. Last time around I did this....
  3. My grandfather was 88 and near his end when he said that he still felt 18 inside! Then he said something chilling.... “It all went so fast!” Think about that. I often do!
  4. I believe that Playing Mantis was onto something with the best of both worlds with the new Polar Lights kits they did, the most memorable to me were the VW Beetle Herbie and then current GTO. Those kits had a detailed snap technique that also lended itself to more detailed builds by the likes of our herd. That style kit would serve the market well today.
  5. Cleaning out the iPhone.... Here's some "On The Road Images", these from 2014. I have more if interested.... My uncle and I between two of the family Teslas. The red one was t-boned and totalled shortly after this photo. It was replaced with another red one. Every time I pull up this photo of the Ghia I feel a model coming on! This is the nose of a bus used as decor at Ron's Original Bar & Grille here in town. It was originally called Ron's School House. I love it when a newbie asks me how to get to the men's room, and I can tell them, "Go down the hall until you see s school bus, then make a left!" My '95 Celica convertible. Recently pulled out of seven year storage in the garage you see here, my house in New Jersey. Put jumper cables on it and it started and ran! It's for sale if anyone is interested!
  6. In the recent release of the MPC Datsun pickup, there are some great looking little tires!
  7. Guys- I just looked at the RMR website and there is a banner across the page as above. Seems he hasn't built inventory back up yet, or simply hasn't updated the page. Also, in many cases, a part like this will be part of a complete model, but a resin caster will sell you just the part if you ask.
  8. I’ve finished more models this year than in several previous years! I’ve also been busy with NNL East and a new job all at the same time. I may get back to the bench
  9. That’s International postage, not Gregg’s fault
  10. Taxi! The correct shape for a London Cab... yea, I know they mostly are black
  11. I bought one of the Porsche tractors two weeks ago at my local Hobby Lobby. I went back yesterday and they were all gone. I had remarked before on this board that I only saw kits on sale once at this particular store. Yesterday as I was looking at kits, one of the guys working there started a conversation. So I asked.. he told me that’s there is a guy who stops in nearly every day and will buy ALL the kits on clearance sale! No doubt someone reselling. Strange because I don’t even know anyone local into models!
  12. Very pretty! No matter what the subject, you have to admire great work! Very nice job on this one, and you have a good eye for design too! I also like your warehouse background!
  13. Interesting thing happened to me yesterday... I was digging through my resin stash looking for something and came across TWO Dodge short box beds from R&R... it's like I never saw these before! Perfect timing with the Dodge truck just out.
  14. As Steve and Tommy said, Tamiya Tape. Yes it is costs a bit more than regular tape but it's worth it in results. You can use it for that critical edge, then cover the remainder of the body with painters blue tape. Also, another tip is to spray a coat of clear after taping, but before spraying the second color. The reason is that if you have any gaps for the paint to bleed through, it will bleed clear and seal it up!
  15. That would be me! I fell in love with the box art as a kid and would buy that kit as a 10 year old, and hopelessly fail at building it. Then at 11 I'd reason I was older and try again, same results! Never did get one together.
  16. I use pastel chalks for a lot of my work. To highlight the pleats on a seat I'd try the light gray chalk. Sand the side of it to make dust. Dry brush the dust into the seat prior to dull coating it. Then polish the seat with a tissue to leave the dust just in the crevices. You can also remove excess chalk dust with a damp Q-tip. Work with it until you are happy with the results. Then dull cote and you have your desired result. This set came from Hobby Lobby.
  17. General Lee is probably number one in kit volume. It's been said it was the first and only kit to sell a million copies. As far as frequency of repop, some of the early 60s tools have been in the catalog eternally... Revell Tri-five Chevys, AMT '53 Ford pickup, '56 and '57 Fords, '58 Chevy etc... And we can thank our lucky stars that these tools were over engineered to survive all these years, much greater usage than was ever thought possible when they were created!
  18. We will be there-- I love a model show I don't have to run!
  19. The Polar Lights kit is very nice and builds up well. I'm glad to hear they put the soft top back in the kit. Regarding that, they put the mounting tabs too far to the edges and you see it on finished models. If you are using it, cut off the tabs and simply glue it on. If you are not using the soft top, double check the roof where the mounting tabs are flashed over. On my last version (Spider Man release) I could still see them on the roof.
  20. I didn't get any new models, not even at NNL East. I was just too busy to hit the vendors myself! But Bob Shelton gave me this very cool watercolor he did of my photo that I had posted on the boards..... Bob's watercolor.... of my photo of the original truck with my model on the hood.... And a close up of my Foose pickup. I'm very grateful that Bob was so nice to think of me! That's the fun part of NNL East, the people!
  21. I find it kinda interesting that nobody has done a split window in 1/24 scale! I finally bought a diecast to fill that gap!
  22. Thank you Tom! We are still basking in the warm afterglow of a job well done!
