  1. It's a funny thing... this Trabbie is that one of those Tamiya PS paints. I did it over either Tamiya or Duplicolor gray primer and had no issues. The overgloss is Tamiya gloss on top of that. Same paint on bare white shiny kit plastic and it didn't adhere. It literally peeled off. I used to have good luck with the Pactra RC colors. They dried tight and flat to the body, like a semi gloss, needed a clear over them.
  2. Very cool! I'm another advocate of cars from family memories. The six in the Firebird is cool, not too many remained that way.
  3. Looks great! She’s a keeper, just put her on the shelf!
  4. Cleaning between projects… serviced the spray booth.. changed filter and bottom card stock. Vacuumed whole thing out.
  5. I love the carb / scoop setup! Too cool! ?
  6. Beautiful work! I certainly will get one of these when the opportunity arises! Back when I was a kid, 1970-3 era, we were in Paris and rode in these as Taxis. I was very impressed with the single bar steering wheel. It’s a Citroen thing and I had never seen that before. I think I’d build mine as a Paris Taxi.
  7. Looks like you are improving with each model! That’s progress. Keep at it and ask people here on the board for advice.
  8. Good to see the Scout coming back! I paid an obscene amount for an original many years ago before the AMT reissues. I have a couple of those, including one that’s about half finished. I even made a stock bench seat for it. This was a kit that Ertl did before the AMT era. Not a bad kit from that era, the major shortcoming is the under hood detail. The Scout is pretty busy there with uniquely shaped heater box, master cylinder and coolant and washer fluid containers. There was someone who did nicely scratch build these details and mentioned casting them but never did so. I would have bought a few sets for sure. I do like the pickup conversion as well as the longer wheelbase possibilities. Note that there are nice diecast pieces of these out there.
  9. Safari in my iPhone 10 and I’m not seeing the issues described. It’s sounding like the ad software isn’t playing nice with certain browsers. Can we narrow it down?
  10. I got six 12x24x1 air filters on eBay for my Pace paint booth. The entire cost delivered was $4.50 each. Ordered Monday afternoon and received Friday morning (Va to Pa). I’m sharing this for Pace owners because this filter is not a typical size in the big box stores. Lowe’s had nothing. Home Depot only had high end costly ones in this size. The vendor on eBay was not a special vendor, just shop by price, and make sure it’s a quilted style. I copied the one Pace sent me with the unit. You can also buy filters directly from Pace at $6 each plus $10 shipping per order. That would have cost me $46.
  11. Forget my original list at the beginning of the year! There is an infestation of squirrels ? in my model room. That said, I’m pleased with my second quarter production, as I was with the first quarter as well. This already is probably my most productive year in the hobby! The Valiant was the first over the finish line for second quarter. It was all done this year, without leaving the bench. Speaking of leaving the bench, I built this one for a show theme in 2019, but there were still unfinished details. A week’s effort got it out of a box. The squirrels are alive and well! This was a busted up old built up in my pickup junk box. It called my name, I answered! It got a new chassis, suspension and engine. Done! The big accomplishment! The 1953 Studebaker Gullwing went through both quarters in the Bring Out Your Dead group build. Started more than 25 years ago as my first big body conversion, it sat in a box since then. A ton of work straightening out my previous work including stretching the chassis. It’s still nowhere near perfect. But it’s monumental for me to see it on my shelf! What’s up next? I’d like to finish the St John’s Island Jeep started in January. And I need to pick a third quarter BOYD project. I may try one of the three that I listed in my January post. Onward!

  14. Both my hobbies! In model cars we have this BMF issue.. In stamp collecting Dennison Company stopped making stamp hinges years ago. If you ever collected, these are the little folded gummed bits of glassine material that we all used to paste our stamps into albums. The big factor was they were peelable without damaging the stamp. The ones on the market today aren’t peelable, so there’s a big market of selling vintage Dennison mounts on eBay. Recently I saw a 59 cent pack from the 1970s sell for $30. Dennison says they lost the formula for the glue. Nobody else has been able to figure it out, for a limited market.
  15. Reminds me of when I was a teenager and I looked at a friend’s record albums… pretty much the same stuff you had, with a few exceptions! ?
