  1. Yea, a lot of commons but the Johans are good. I only watched video one, and there was mention that this was just a fraction of what’s there. And there’s supposed to be a lot of resin.. the aftermarket stuff is good if sold at a discount. Last time a local dealer had a collection I bought a whole fist full for $20
  2. No the black is speckled.. that’s what is on my photo board. I just lost the cap. Unfortunately I don’t have anything sprayed with the concrete color. Originally my photo setup was a box with one color on either side. It got bent up and I did the board to replace is. The gray paint is done, otherwise I’d spray the back of my photo board! Here’s the black, just as it sprayed right out of the can. Here’s what the gray looked like. And here was my original stand.
  3. There was a guy a while back on one of the boards who was building something like six of these early birds at once, all in different colors. Anyone remember?
  4. Andy’s Hobbies in Arizona purchased a collection of over 1000 kits. This is part one video of a fraction of the stuff! Does anyone know whose collection this was? I watched the entire half hour without moving! To see follow up videos, they should appear below this video on the YouTube page. Anyone else see their life flash before their eyes?! ?
  5. Hmmm.. I would’ve just made a batch of Dennison labels on my printer! At $245 a roll, I don’t believe we will experiment. The cost here is that it’s certified for clean room use.
  6. Here’s the cans I have.. it was special diorama paint, sprayed thick with the speckled finish. They were for road surfaces. I guess these are no longer available. A pity since it was an interesting product and both my cans are empty. I couldn’t find the black’s cap.
  7. Some 30 years ago I snapped a few photos of this truck in the parking lot at a car show. It originally was a local gas company service truck. And of course I built a model of it! I built the work box and camper cap from Evergreen and it took me three tries to get the box right. I still have those two failed attempts somewhere. At the time Ed Fluck Sr. wanted to cast it, so I did a master, but we couldn’t figure out how to cast the depth of the sides without making it a solid block, so the project stalled. Ive known Dave Burket / Model King as long as either of us have been into models. In fact I had remembered him from running in the demo derby in the mid 1980s. He always liked this model and said it was the inspiration for his Moebius pickup work box. Funny thing.. when I had this model on display for the first time in many years at the last NNL Nationals in Ohio, someone asked me if I used the Moebius box! I’m no, this model is 30 years old!
  8. Which is exactly why I take a ton of photos during my builds! I examine the pictures and fix things I didn’t see with my own eye. Great projects!
  9. So where is Mr Richard Snake with the end of quarter report?
  10. You do have to look around the entire store! I’ve found models in all the listed spaces, and on shelving out in the middle of a main aisle. Also, don’t forget to check for paint! They often have Duplicolor auto paint.. random colors and primers. I always buy all the gray primer they have!
  11. The secret to all my outdoor photos? Here it is sitting on the kitchen table.. a board sprayed with Floquil parking lot and road spray paint!
  12. I once wrote an article for a club newsletter that pretty much said. “If there’s a viable market for a product, someone will show up to fill that need.” I wish I could find that article! That thought stands. If there’s a viable market for a state of the art generic gasser chassis, someone will cash in on it. Will the chassis of choice be the anticipated Moebius Nova gasser chassis? Maybe. Will an aftermarket company make the investment to develop and tool something up? Or Will a smaller cottage industry 3D printer come up with something.. and with the price of something made in limited quantities? Time will tell! And ya know.. if this does come about, we’ll hear the guys who will whine that they want to buy it at Hobby Lobby at 40% off, or why can’t it be an Ollie’s $9.99 kit?! ?
  13. I was wondering where you were! If any thread is “Ace Bait”, this is it! ?
  14. Very cool collection! It’s interesting that you are into so many things!
  15. This is from the Hoosier Model Club newsletter.. Jim Casassa’s column.
  16. Guys, poking at a model kit tooled in the 1960s is like criticizing a 1967 Chevy because it doesn’t have air bags and 4 wheel anti-lock disc brakes! ?
  17. Visible in Pennsylvania!
  18. Okay! Pushing it across the finish line! Still a few things I’ll go back and add. Then I can glue the body to the chassis. Otherwise, mission accomplished! After 25 years of hanging out, I’m amazed to see it sitting there!
  19. Sigh! It’s like when I was hosting new college grad engineers at work… it was my birthday and one asked how old I was gonna be. I quipped 82 and nobody laughed!
