Through the worst of the pandemic I did go to the grocery store once a week. We cooked our own food because we knew the full impact of the virus was yet to be discovered. I didn't want to catch it from a restaurant cook. We've gone out to restaurants a few times since all the mandates have been lifted but overall are being careful. We are fully vaccinated. Still, ya never know what will happen next!

I’ve never used a Door Dash or other delivery service. I even go pick up my pizza. My father always said if you’re too lazy to cook, you can at least go get it!

Back in the day one New York station had a blurb between songs. ”This is Frankie from Brooklyn. Can you play Stairwell To Heaven?”

What did you screw-up today??

I selectively pick up what I drop! Tooth picks, supplies and small sandpaper squares.. not worth picking up! I just grab a new one. Same with small parts I have multiples of. When I do get on all fours under the bench, I tend to find things I gave up looking for the last time and things I didn’t realize I was missing. Never the item I was looking for! -
Amen! Weathering done right is an art unto itself! Early on it got little respect from the shiny guys. You’d see people say things like, “if you ruin the paint job you can always smear some dirt on it and make a beater!” As if it was that easy! Super project Jim! I enjoyed following along!

Congratulations on getting the Mustang done! It looks great! I’ve been plugging along with my Studebaker. But every time I get a step done, I find something else that doesn’t fit! -

What did you see on the road today?
Tom Geiger replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I bought a small tree at Lowes a few weeks ago... had to sit it on my front passenger seat with it sticking out the sunroof. A couple kids pointed and waved. -
I went to a business meeting in downtown Philly. I parked my Geo Tracker in a parking garage. There is no real way to lock it as the soft top rear window is zipped in. I come back to find rear window open and passenger side door unlocked. The stereo was missing.. the funny part? It was broken! Hadn’t worked in years! I just laughed! I imagine that the guy might have gotten shot by whomever he sold it to!

An old beast survivor of a Ford van! It was a window van but all windows except that one rear door were covered with wood. All doors had those heavy duty lock hasps. No grille, roof rack and everything squirted flat black. Riding along it was very loud, too bad I couldn’t get some more pix. Something I’d build for sure! -

You did a nice job from that old Pyro kit! Pyro was in Union NJ. There’s a Home Depot on the site today. -
I don’t watch a lot of mainstream TV anymore. My wife controls the main TV with trash like bachelors and importing spouses from third world countries. I watch a couple car shows and an occasional real estate show. I have been watching Turner and saving a lot of old movies. Some iconic ones I watched lately were Shaft and Taking of Pelham One Two Three. The other night I watched Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Ive also been watching old movies from the 1930s through 1950s just for kicks. It’s interesting to hear the slang of those eras.

I’m changing health insurance.. I went to what I was led to believe was the provider I was seeking’s website… next thing you know, my phone is ringing day and night with phone pests trying to sell me shady insurance! Argh!

Artie was a member of the Tri-State Scale Model Car Club. He was good friends with John Slivoski. We wouldn't see him much at club meetings since he was also a boy scout leader. Later in his life he brought his troop to NNL East. What a well behaved group! A shining tribute to the man. Artie worked for NYC Dept of Sanitation his whole career, he may have gotten some building materials there!

The Official EBay Discussion Thread

The 1099 isn't eBay's fault, that was the tax man! I think they have to do it for anyone over $10,000 in sales. Casinos have to do same with big winners. Any smart seller will be able to expense away the sales to the point they show a loss on their tax Schedule C. eBay lost their roots a long time ago. The software was originally written by Pierre for his girlfriend to sell her Pez dispenser collectables on the Internet. They are now more into eCommerce of consumer goods by companies. They have been chasing Amazon's tail for years and will never catch it! -

That is coming out super! I’ve used a number of those Dusters as donors for other projects, maybe it’s time I actually built one! ?
