  1. The site got changed on Tuesday. It’s temporary until the web guy can get their new site up. Look at the bottom of the page.. ”Powered by some janky old Perl script that’s incredibly fragile. “
  2. Point well taken Pete but in this photo the seams on top will be hidden in the completed model. No need to fill them.
  3. You just have to be careful who you buy from. Avoid sellers with feedback issues. Avoid sellers with snippy remarks in their text or unreasonable terms. Look at the pictures carefully like in the current 1970 Impala in a rare 1969 box. eBay now is paying sellers through their managed payment system. When you pay via PayPal now, notice it says “Payment Pending”. PayPal is paying eBay and then eBay is eventually paying the seller. eBay is going to set up their own payment system to get away from PayPal all together.
  4. Looks great Tom! Can’t wait to see it finished!
  5. Thank you everyone for your kind comments!
  6. I took the final beauty shots outdoors of a newly finished build.. then found the two mirrors sitting in my paint booth! So now I need to install mirrors and reshoot photos!
  7. Always watch those descriptions that say “Not sure what’s all here. What you see is what you get! Sold as is!” And note there are no returns. Bidding up to $41 right now.
  8. Finished! I will post an Under Glass thread tomorrow
  9. Ok, this is way cool! And the construction shots really tell the story!
  10. I went to Walmart. I was on the long checkout line behind what must’ve been a grandmother with two small grandchildren. She was in front of her cart looking forward and suddenly the little girl, about three, stands up on the seat and starts reaching outward towards the candy rack. She started to tumble and I instinctively grabbed her and said, “Don’t stand honey.” She sat down fast. The people behind me gasped. The grandmother glared at me. Gee thanks! Then I get to the parking lot. I had a good spot but the lot wasn’t crowded. As I walk up to my car, a woman zooms up and is so close to my car I wouldn’t be able to back up. I took my time putting my groceries in my trunk. She honks at me! I was waiting for a prescription to be ready, so I slammed my trunk, put the cart in the corral.. then headed back into the store! I could see her in her car yelling. I could only imagine what she said! I chuckled to myself. Screw her!
  11. Swung by HL today.. Testors rack pulled out and they just spread out some supplies to fill the space. They had the whole aisle pulled apart and I asked a manager about paint.. he had no idea of anytime being added, but said management changes their mind all the time. I didn’t ask for the rack, wouldn’t work for me. I found this one in the clearance area.. $7.49.. box dented and missing the oars. Still worth the few dollars. I had a tear drop trailer like this years ago. Just be Hankful!
  12. Yesterday: Oh yea! I’m working on a small part.. a coil, holding it in tweezers.. zing! Off into the stratosphere! So I decide to go hunting for it.. my model room has a hardwood floor so I scrape across with a business card.. I find plastic shrapnel i whittled off parts, dust, and a lot of hair which is odd since I don’t have a lot of hair anymore. I find parts I was missing from already finished models.. a Jeep tail light ring. A photo etch seat belt buckle and a few parts I didn’t even know I was missing. I give up on the coil and grab another one from my parts hoard. I finish my model. Today: I walk into the model room and turn on the lights. I see sometimes small and black right in the middle of the floor... remember the area I hand searched with a business card? Yup, the missing coil. I put it in the parts bin. You only find things once you aren’t looking for them and once you no longer need them!
  13. Since Round 2 is all about nostalgia I can see bring back the old kits in the same boxes and decals we had back then. Guys will buy them to build again, hopefully with a better skill level! I wouldn’t recommend creating new themes in 80s context.
  14. A round toothpick has a taper to it. Figure out how big a circle you need to paint a switch, button, key hole etc and cut it down and sand it flat. Dip in paint and use it like a rubber stamp to deliver what you need, exactly where you need it!
  15. Tis a funny thing.. Round 2 is damned if they do and damned if they don’t. There’s a lot of Facebook whining going on from guys who don’t understand what it is and why. Comments like the manufacturer doesn’t care or is scamming them with a low detail kit. Unbelievable!
  16. Boom! Squirrel everywhere!
  17. Ya know, now that I read the language, I’m thinking scammer! But the audience is on to him.. it’s still at $15.
  18. Welcome! We're an interesting group and always happy to help!
  19. Either a scammer or someone who got scammed! Send them a message and see what they say..
  20. I attribute mine to LinkedIn and the “Open for Business” tag. I did get a six month consult thru one last year with a major Pharma locally. The company had a New Jersey address and phone presence, but everyone I dealt with including the HR contact was in India. I cannot complain, they did everything right and the HR lady called me monthly to make sure everything was okay.. better than the last several US efforts I worked with.
