  1. Sharp build.
  2. OK thanks for the help from both of you. I have the Daytona winner kit but I wasn't sure because there is a small lip at the bottom that runs part of the way then opens up for the jack pin and another lip behind the pin. Now that I know what I need I'll find one on the 'bay. Thanks again.
  3. Bang up job, dude. Looks great. I'm with Coyote. I miss NASCAR the way it used to be.
  4. Man, I really like the Waco Taperwing. It's a cool design with a beautiful paint scheme.
  5. I need a donor kit for Slixx decals of Bobby Hamilton's 1999 Kodak Advantix car. The instructions call for a Revell '97 Chevy slab side kit. I haven't built a race car in about 25 years (last one was the '86 Wrangler Monte Carlo that came with the '82 Pontiac) but recently started again on my Dale Sr.(huge fan) kits when I ran across this Kodak scheme that I really like and I don't know which kits are round side or are slab side. Does anyone have a list of which of the kits I need? I know it's gonna be Earnhardt, Skinner, Waltrip or Gordon, just don't know which I need. All help is appreciated.
  6. Great build! I've got this one on my want list. When I get it, I hope it turns out half this good.
  7. Yep, I loved The Great Escape. They also had a great model railroad set up in the store(I have a small N scale pike) and a good selection of model kits. I was disappointed when they phased out the hobbies. Like you, I don't know of another one other than the Hobby Connection. It's about an hour's drive for me so I don't get there as often as I'd like. Last time I went was January, and they had more kits than about 6 months before. I don't R/C but they definitely have more for those hobbyists than the plastic modelers. They do have a pretty good Tamiya paint selection.
  8. There used to be one Hobbytown USA in Anderson, SC and two in Greenville, but all are now closed. The one I frequented the most in Anderson did the exact thing before saying they were closing. There was hardly anything in the store to choose from. It sounds like it may be happening there, I'm sorry to say.
  9. I don't despise anyone because they don't find something as interesting as I do or lavish fawning praise if it's not heart-felt.. Everyone have different tastes. I am no where nearly accomplished as the majority of builders here and it would be great to be able to take "junk" and repurpose it. I have a lot of respect for you, Bill, because I have learned a great deal from you and it's cool if you don't get it. Like you said, "different strokes". That being said, I have an autistic grandson and a nephew who has problems with hand dexterity and they both love Legos. I guess looking thru my eyes, I found it neat because the two of them found it fascinating. They couldn't imagine taking a million Legos and building a full size car out of them. I grew up before Legos were as popular as they are now. We had to make do with cardboard bricks.
  10. On the show tonight, a fellow and friends built a 1:1 Bugatti Chiron from Lego blocks and triangular elements created for this build. They used the actual wheels and tires and a metal hub to help hold the 1 1/2 tons of Legos they used. When they finished, they took it to the track and it ran 26 mph or kph(not sure which) with an electric motor. The build was incredible because the Lego car looked like a twin of the real thing. Ripley's airs on the Travel channel.
  11. Yep, that's it. Thanks for the info. My Granddad gave it to me for Christmas sometime in the mid-70s.
  12. These are neat. I've never seen the mid-60s cars as radios. I'm not sure if it's Philco, but I've got a 1931 Rolls Royce Phantom II that is an AM radio. The spare tires on each side are the controls, one for volume and the other for tuning. It's packed up or I would post a pic.
  13. I think the B-17 is #1. Second is the SR-71 Blackbird and my 3rd would be the AC-130 Spectre. The last 2 I'll mention are the Concorde and the P-61 Black Widow.
  14. I thought this would fit this topic:
  15. You're welcome. I used the Auto Touchup site too before I found the paintref.com site. Paintref has chips for a lot more colors where the other site can be spotty with chip colors.
  16. I guess I should have quoted youpey when he said it was for a '74.
  17. The 1974 Plymouth has an Avocado Gold code J6 that may be close to what you are looking for. http://paintref.com/cgi-bin/chipdisplay.cgi?year=1974&manuf=Chrysler&smodel=Plymouth&info=yes&page=1
  18. I'm not completely sure of the year but I think it's 1977 Plymouth Trail Duster and if so, the green is Jade Green code F2. Snake's suggestion of SF or MCW would be your best bet. http://paintref.com/cgi-bin/colorcodedisplay.cgi?type=paint&paint=30591&dtcode=DT7835&smodel=Plymouth&syear=1977&smanuf=Chrysler&sname=Jade Green
  19. ...And then Rob Zombie wrote a song about it!
  20. A very cool site with some great info. Like Tom, I'm a bowtie guy too. Thanks for the link.
  21. I usually shop at 2 places online; Hobbylinc.com and Megahobby.com. I try to get stuff at the best price, but there isn't much difference in prices at these. If you can't find what you want at these, try ebay. Hope this helps.
  22. https://www.ebay.com/itm/MPC-1978-Dodge-D100-Custom-Pickup-NEW/333135539147?hash=item4d906cebcb:g:SzcAAOSwCqZclSe5&redirect=mobile This guy is unreal. Notice the delivery date as well. The kit is due the end of April and can be pre-ordered for less than $30 at several online hobby shops. Some sellers are just unbelievable.
  23. Maybe the plane is doing a fly-by of the tower as Maverick did in Top Gun.
  24. I had a 1969 Chevelle Malibu that was my first car in 1982 and the underside of the hood(and the insulation) as well as the firewall looked flat black. If it was semi-gloss, there wasn't much gloss left. I wish I still had it.
  25. I bought 3 different colors from Michael's for 25% off shortly before Christmas. I plan on using it on a Lambo Veneno I have, just haven't decided on which color yet. Thanks for the tip about the undercoat color. The car looks great.
