Beautiful looking paint finish and chrome trim. The Fiat 500 looks to have similar finishes as well.

Great looking color. Does it need a clear coat? These trucks had such great looking body lines. -
Model building versus other hobbies
espo replied to Sledsel's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Many years ago, my wife wanted a dog, and a Labrador specifically. I happened to have a customer that had started to breed Labs and had her first litter about to be ready for sale. Well we got a male that would crawl all over its litter mates and had the biggest paws. So he came home with us. Part of the deal was that this lady wanted us to show the pup and we did try. Even paid to have a noted show handler work with him and handled him in the show ring. We quickly learned the politics of the dog show world. The good news is we had thew most wonderful dog who was more like a five-year-old trapped in a fury body. Even our Vet said he had more personality than most people. God how I mis our little "Puppy Boy". -
While many here seem to have a dim view of this car, remember it's place in the market as a lower priced car. A turbo 2.0 Liter engine, sort of the standard formula in this segment, and the availability of an AWD system. Styling is always a subjective thing and I personally like the looks of the Alfo it is based upon. I'm not a buyer, but if you were looking for a car in this price range and seeing what sort of options could be had and at what price, this would have to be a consideration.

I have used the same Model Master glue forever. When I saw that Revell was offering their Contacta #39604 I wanted to try it. While I like it maybe even a little better than the Model Master product, I have to keep removing the delivery needle and cleaning it out after just a few uses. I do cap it right after use, but it still keeps getting blocked. They also offer a Contacta Clear, for windows and mainly clear parts. This has a brush applicator and is thicker consistency. I have used it for many other applications, and I'm pleased with how it has worked.

Usually, the vacuum line would go to the base of the primary carb. on the primary side.

Glad you like this. I had a fun as well as challenging time finding what I needed in my spare parts boxes. Thank you. I also like this body style and one of the reasons for this build. I have owned a few thru the years and enjoyed them all, even the one that kept blowing head gaskets. Turned out a prior owner must have really gotten it hot at one time and the block was warped. Thank you very much Ken. As I mentioned above, I have owned a few as a young man. This started out to be a model of one of those cars. At the time this resin conversion was the only way to get the two-door sedan configuration I wanted. I still couldn't get the correct '51 dash until I found a complete resin '51 Ford two-door body and interior with even a stock grill. Maybe this year I'll build that to look more closely to one of my old cars. Thank you again for your kind words.

They painted one of the '51 Fords I bought in the late 1960's. You could smell the paint from 50 ft. away for over a month and the paint finish had more sages in it than I have in the bags under my old eyes. This was the only time I had them touch anything else.

Same here.

Thanks Ray. This sort of a flash back for me. Glad you liked it Bob. This reminds me of when I couldn't even afford having Earl paint my cars.

Great looking paint. like the rear package try finish. Nice interior and well detailed engine.

I can almost hear the Flathead from here. Don't forget the positive ground on early Fords.

Sure like the way this body and paint look.

Maybe the DAP1688 is discontinued, and the internal inventory control says that the DAP 1699 supersedes it so the stores inventory treats it as one in the same. AI at work.

This is how we learn what to look for. Can't tell you how many times I have slapped my forehead trying to figure out how all these parts come together. Just imagine how the designers of the tool must have felt. -

Nice design. I imagine you're extending the side patteren all the way around the back. -
Like seeing old cars like this that are well cared for.

It's the little details that mean a lot to you and no one else would realize what they are seeing.

Doesn't this sort of tell you everything you need to know?

Enjoyed watching all the interior work you did on this, especially the wood paneling. Basic clean exterior and a great hangout inside.

Great looking low dollar driver. The Ford Y Block looks at home in this.

Beautiful looking color combination and finish. All the chrome trim is cleanly done. -
Great looking GTO, not a year model often seen even when new. The paint and trim all look like showroom. The wheels fit the look well.

The paint on the upper body is very tastefully done. What are you going to do on the lower portion? -
Like the color and the smooth finish. Think the split rear window style always looked better than the big rear windows.
