You have to be brave to get old. Don't ask me how I know.

Beautiful looking paint color and finish. Nice looking color combination with the interior. The SHO sure changed the personality of the Taurus.

Great looking Build. I like the wheels and tires. You mention the accent paint, and I agree the black is too great of a contrast. They offer other colors, and their Gray might be a better fit. Don't you just wish GM would have let you order a big block 4-speed wagon?

Great looking paint and trim. I would like to see some of the interior.

Great looking bumper and hitch. -
Regarding the issue of leaking Testors and Model Master spray cans. The integrity of their spray cans has been an issue for some time. I have had to dump more than a few that the can had leaked. In the last year we relocated, and I had to pack up all of my paints during the move. I had to do an additional purge of leaking cans at that time and moved only the ones that showed no sign of leakage. We have been here for 13 months, and I already have more of these can starting to leak. While I'll mis many of the colors that I liked using. I don't foresee ever buying their pants in the future as the containers seem to leak before I can ever use them.

Using a shop vac is something I never have considered. Maybe I should say I just never thought of it. Now what I have done is to use the exhaust fan from a bathroom to sort of boost the air flow. We just downsized this year, and the daylight style basement had a bathroom with an exhaust fan that exited at ground level to the outside of the house. The exhaust fan tubing is exposed in an unfinished area on its route to the outside. I partially finished the storage area and added a work bench where I can do spray painting and such. I placed my spray booth on the bench and ran the exhaust tube up to the bathroom exhaust tube and joined them with some Home Depot type metal fittings. The bathroom exhaust has a little more volume and is a slightly larger diameter than the paint booth exhaust. I use the bathroom exhaust fan plus the fan in the spray booth when painting. My thought is that the larger volume of the bathroom fan helps pull the exhaust from the spray booth when in use. So far I have had zero odor issues and no sign of paint residue so it seems to be working even if it is a little Rube Goldburg of a setup.

I like the shade of blue, who was the supplier of your paint?

I like how you're doing the headlights. Should you be considering a little more detailed chassis the Revell '65 Chevelle kits are still around.

Help matching this color of gold
espo replied to Redisetta's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Testors, providing you can find some, #1251 Copper Metallic in spray enamel. Odds n Ends from Plasti-kote # 143S called Antique Gold would be a shade lighter. The color in the picture resembles a color that was used on Chevrolet and some other GM products. The Chevrolet color was called Sierra Gold when first offered in 1956 and was a popular color on many owner modified cars from that time period. Chevrolet offered the color under a few different names thru the 1959 or even the 1960 model years. OEM paint suppliers such as MCW and others would be a good place to check as well. -
Some early Bob Marley every now and then.

Both great looking builds. I like the additional information on the background of what the manufacturer was trying to do. I like the clean single color on the Green car, although the Mauve is also an attractive color that I think would look best with a matching roof. -
All great looking builds. I like your color choices as well, they just seem to fit each body style. Cleanly detailed trim and engines.

Beautiful looking paint, wild looking interior.

Beautiful looking build. I like the clean looking white color. Enjoyed watching all the detailing you did on the engine and chassis.

I like the sedan delivery body style and the paint looks great. Very impressive looking chassis. -
Hard to tell someone what to do with their build. You were wanting ideas for the grill. Did you want to stay with a GM look? Maybe a '53 Chevy grill surround. French in headlight rigs from a '53 or '54 Chevy. The headlight shape from a '55 or '56 might give a little more modern look. One thing that I see immediately is the changes to the side windows. Looks like you wanted the look of a hardtop but by lowering the bottom edge of the windows this makes the roof look higher and the windshield look like you might have taken a little out of the A pillars which looks good.

Good to put life in neutral sometimes.

I think that AMT offered a decal to be used on the sides for the Bel Air trim.

Beautiful looking finishes and cleanly detailed. I agree with you on this being a great kit. I built one when it first came out and was very pleased with the way it turned out. I like the theme of your build as a slightly modified street car as so many of these were.
-
I agree with everyone else on the paint finish. With the cleanly detailed trim these both are very realistic looking builds.

I think the bumper addons give a more realistic and practical look.
