Stock '37 Chevy sedan delivery
espo replied to traditional's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Beautiful paint color and finish, Chevrolet could only hope they could roll out on this nice back then. Glad you included your construction photos. This helps to better understand just how much it took to create the proper appearance. -
Like the clean looking paint and body trim look. You captured the look of the Venture optional tri-colored interior. Like the realistic looking engine and chassis finishes.
-
Beautiful paint color and finish. Like the way you toned down the wheel shine.
-
Great looking showroom stock style. Would normally think of the body color and interior color combo until seeing it done. Like the paint color and finish now and the same for the interior.
-
Great Saturday Night special for the local short tracks.
-
Great looking body finish and engine detailing. Like the wheel & tire setup, perfect stance.
-
Great looking miniature reproduction of your father's Charger. Beautiful paint and vinyl roof finishes. Like how you created the base 318 engine.

Am I nuts to save this
espo replied to junkyardjeff's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
That paint job would be hard to reproduce unless you're going to change color anyway. Maybe restore it in sort of a '50 - '60's era style. -
Great looking "practice run".
-
Great save on this T-Bird.

Galaxie Limited 1947 Chevrolet Fleetmaster Aerosedan

Beautiful paint finish and color. Great looking interior details. The engine is realistically done as well. -
Your build looks like it's coming along fine, and I like the looks of your flathead. The era 1952 electric fuel pump question would best be answered from someone even older than myself. At that time, I was sitting on the floor with some metal tooled toy cars making my own engine sounds. Around 1960 was when I first became knowledgeable of such accessories, especially when trying to work around vapor lock issues with hot running flatheads and that's a whole different story. The hood trim issue seems to of showed up around the time the sedan delivery hit the market. AMT may have tried to use the tooling from the original '40 Ford and the tool may have been well worn by then and for whatever reason they may have chosen to use it as is anyway.

All of these are beautifully done and like the different finishes you used. -
CHEVY 37 COE pickup

Great looking COE cab conversion. Like the bed floor trim and the picnic baskets. The trailer and accessories look great as well. -
What did you see on the road today?
espo replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Almost got run over by a Tesla pick up a couple of days ago in the Costco parking lot. They say black is supposed to make you look slimmer, even the black paint couldn't help how this thing looked to me anyway. I'm thinking someone with a background in making HVAC sheet metal ducts may have found another industry to use their experience in. -
Model inquiry ( New Picture )
espo replied to fredo84's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
AMT offered this '65 El Camino kit along with a '65 Chevelle wagon that shared much of the tooling. They both had a basic blob type small block engine with a couple of build options. The El Camino kit had an optional camper shell that represented one with an aluminum exterior finish. The kit would have had a chrome finish on the grill and bumpers and the pictures look like these may have been painted but easily corrected if need be. -
Hi Jim. No, I don't recall ever seeing a real car with the fuel pump turned, but that doesn't mean it hasn't happened or if it would even work. In theory it might in that as you motioned it is driven off of the cam by way of a pushrod and the up and down movement would be the same and the only difference, I can think of is the direct of the intake and output ports of the pump itself. Since we're working on 1/25th scale plastic here it can be whatever you want it to be. I sometimes get a little hung up in how it is on most 1:1 engines. Noticing the different shape of the cross members of your two fender and running board kit parts. I'm sure you already know that AMT offered the '39 and '40 Ford bodies as a coupe, sedan and sedan delivery. The fender parts should interchange with very little minor modifications to make this part work any of the three body styles.

You can tell they're enjoying themselves.

Dodges--'73 n' '78
espo replied to Terry Jessee's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Both have great looking finishes, just done differently. -
Great looking build and the detailing really makes an otherwise basic kit standout. Alway an enjoyable experience building a model of a past vehicle and the memories that come flooding back into your mind while doing it.
-
Great looking paint color and finish. Like the optional interior trim and the colors.
-
Beautiful paint color and finish. Great interior colors and finishes. Like the lighting.

Like how you opened the doors and trunk. The engine and chassis look great. You mentioned the hood and that you were not completely satisfied with how it looked, I noticed the same thing as well. Maybe one of the mid '60's MoPar S/S drag hood scoops would be a consideration.
