  1. A 2 bbl big block intake manifold sounds like a big truck part. The Big Block was offered in many large trucks with 366, 396, and 427 displacements.
  2. I like the wagon conversion idea. What did you use for the basic roof shape ??
  3. I'm just blown away with this paint work.
  4. In the photo there appears to be some sort of wiring going from the drivers drip rail to the trunk lid and even something dropping down to the gas cap ??
  5. Good advise. I have used Q-Tips and a worn tooth pick for the foil edges. I haven't run into that problem so I have been lucky.
  6. Bare Metal Foil is also offered in a flat aluminum finish also. You might consider buying a sheet if you're doing many builds with this type of finish. You apply it just like the Chrome finish and it is very realistic looking.
  7. For a Cadillac I would go for a '57 or '58 Coupe de Ville or a '64 or '65 series 62 coupe. I know it is being offered by a couple of casters but I would buy a '79 thru '83 Malibu coupe or wagon.
  8. One thing I find interesting about old letters and cards like this, look at the penmanship. The card on the lower right is almost going too calligraphy. The one on the upper left has an interesting picture on the front.
  9. Revell offered a basic Caprice Police kit at one time. They also had a wagon I think that could be converted into a '57 looking styling or as a panel.
  10. Man I hope someone remembers to post some pictures.
  11. I have gotten preformed pipe wrapping at Home Depot. They carried it in the section with Hot Water Heaters. The foam comes in a couple of different interior diameters and the slit along the side even had an adhesive strip to hold them together after installation.
  12. Amazing work here. I have learned a lot about taping things off for paint work watching what all you have done on these builds.
  13. Excellent paint work. Very clean looking build. It looks so nice in so many ways, but think about doing something with the exhaust tips. Not trying to criticize but it would add that last little touch.
  14. AS everyone else has pointed out, the paint work is outstanding and you even did the undercarriage to match. The colors all work perfectly together. I enjoy looking at the detailing of the suspension and drive shaft even.
  15. O ya this should be fun to watch.
  16. I'm glad to see you're back on this Corvette, it really looks great. I built one a couple of years ago, Box Stock, and enjoyed the kit. The only problem I encountered was the trunk hinge setup. On the engine. If you go with the LS setup and can't find the block maybe you could use the 283 block and the LS heads and intake. The bottom side of the engine is pretty well hidden from view. Either way the paint color combination looks great and I like how you did the interior.
  17. Are you staying with the big block ?
  18. Now you're just showing off with this tape work. Very intricate design. So you are applying each strip of tape and keeping them parallel and perfectly spaced apart ?
  19. I have to agree with DumpyDan, this sounds like an interesting way to spend a day. I did a little stamp collecting when I was 6 to about 10 years old. Where stamps were coming from I.E. their post mark was always part of the deal. Wondering what that place must be like. I also would enjoy reading of your adventures and travels. The Ford Ranchero opens a question as to the exact year model. Looking at the picture I see '58 side trim and a '58 hood. The front fenders and grill are '57. Ford used the same tail lights on both year models. This type of sheet metal interchange was somewhat common years ago. All of the parts pretty much interchange. Sometimes an owner would go to a wrecking yard and use a '58 front end front end to update their '57 and sometimes owners would go the other way because they didn't like the 4 headlamp look. There were several that even went so far as adding an Edsel front end. You may laugh now, but at the time this got a lot of attention and in a good way. Often this was done to fix body damage from an accident or the effects of road salt.
  20. Great looking weathering and I like the way you aged the signage on the truck.
  21. Beautiful paint work. I liked the contrasting Gold, and now with the Cobra in tow it really fits.
  22. Great looking build. I like the way you did your detailing under the hood and the different colors you used on the chassis gives it a very realistic look. I have often used the same magazine for referencing a subject and found it to be about the best. The TS92 paint is one of my favorites. Another one to consider next time would be Testors 1840M Flaming Orange as it is just a shade darker.
  23. The Goldberg reference was one I grew up with. My father served in WW II and it was a common reference about creating what you needed with what every you had to work with. Some of the stories he would refer to, and I wouldn't think my father was involved except my mother verified, did not seem like the father that I knew. As they say that's war.
  24. Good because it was meant to be. I'm often hesitant to use expressions that my be from another time as it may now have a different meaning.
  25. So many great looking cars and trucks. I look forward to seeing the rest of your photo gallery. The dog looks pretty happy about everything.
