Very creative body work. I can see some kit bashing coming on. These look to kool not to build.

What did you see on the road today?

"Glass" rear fenders ? From the looks of the rear wheel off set he's going to need to keep an eye on the rear wheel bearings. I remember when every hot VW used spacers to open the top of their rear decks to catch additional air for cooling. -
The Air Cleaner might just be one of the easiest parts to find since several casters offer these. The body may be somewhat of a problem. AMT offered a '56 Ford Victoria that even included the Crown option. The problem is the shape of a hardtop roof is very different from a tudoor post roof. I'm sure some casters offer the '55 - '56 tudoor bodies. The Revell '57 Ford kits with the Gasser build option would make a perfect chassis donor. AMT has offered several nice big block Ford engines thru the years. While there are many more the ones that come to my mind would be the '60 Ford Starliner and the '65 Ford Galaxy with all of the NASCAR and Drag Racing engine options. The bucket seats almost look like a Mopar seat from the shape and pattern of the covering. The interior would just depend on if your going for an exact reproduction, which wouldn't be a bad idea, or just use this as an inspiration for your own ideas. Again I think there are many who would like to see this done, expect copy cats.

1965 Pontiac Gran Prix custom ......try it again
espo replied to Peter Lombardo's topic in Model Cars
I can see it now. What a shame about the paint issues, but it really isn't all that noticeable unless you're looking for it. Very creative body work especially the roof and tail lights. The doors look like they're hung perfectly with no misalignment. I like the paint treatment, I will steal that idea in the future. -
Unfortunately far to many think its about Fireworks, cold Beer, and a Burger or two. We all have much to be thankful for and the sad part is we are unable to thank too many who made it all possible. So honor those that you can and pray for those you can't.

That was a quick build and it looks great. -
1966 Ford 1 ton dually

I like seeing the "Big Truck" theme of this build. While I don't build this style my self I still learn from and enjoy watching how these conversions are done. -
I'll bet someone was hiding that till they could come back.

Since Round 2 is doing updates and new decal sheets and some really nice tires for these reissues, maybe the money spent on rights to Coke could be used to offer something a little more tangible for the model builders in the future.

1965 Pontiac Gran Prix custom ......try it again

Same here, to bad since it sounds like a nice build. -
Nice recovery on your build. I like the light beige color of the interior with the Silver body.

Depending on the era you're building this model to represent, NASCAR in the late '60's would have required three side bars and the bar behind the driver's seat would have been straight across going side to side and mounted at the about the window height. This would of had additional bracing from the center of that bar down to the base off the Hoop, which should be just behind the driver.

Mine was a late '05 so it had the bigger '06 Brakes and some different front suspension settings. The car was 1 of I think 260 something built in Black Metallic with Black Leather interior. I replaced the OEM Wheels with an inch wider Inky 5 spoke wheels and one size larger Michelin Spot Tires and a few Pedders Springs and Struts. Removed the factory Spoiler, as it made the back end look to big. Removed the Pontiac V on the trunk and had the lower bumper section painted to match. Big improvement in my mind.

I had an '05 Pontiac GTO, (Monaro) and I have to agree, they are great cars.

Always liked the "Cal Bug" look. -
Finally got by HL to see if any close outs were left. I picked up the Round 2 '57 Chrysler 300 and the '62 Pontiac Polyglass kits. I know I'll build these two but I may go back for some of the others if I think there is enough good parts to harvest from them.

A surviving Turbo Corvair is unusual and this one still looks very nice. The fender skirts are one of those things that depend on who is looking at them. Some cars look alright with them, and some cars were designed to where they didn't look right without them because of the shape of the wheel well opening. Beyond that it just depends on who is looking at them.

You have to post your build pictures on this. If you don't already know Plastrruct offers sheet plastic with the diamond pattern for the Firewall. Interesting looking paint pattern reminds me of the Black Widow paint pattern from Chevrolet for '57.

Nice 29 Chevy and 50's Ford at car show.
espo replied to Johnt671's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Outstanding looking Chevrolet. Who ever did the body work on this has to be a master craftsman in both metal and wood. I might have done something different on the wheels, but that is an area where there are so many options. The '56 crown Victoria in Black no less. The basic car it's self was a beautifully designed automobile and Ford should be rightfully proud of this design. The Crown Victoria was not that common in '56 probably because of it's price at the time, but it has always been one of the most desirable models to own. I remember an exceptional one owned by a class mate when I was in High School. When he turned 16 his parents gifted him their late model Crown Vic. as they were getting a new car. Ford offered an unusual shade of Red that was more of a soft color going toward a Pinkish color. The color is one of those you would have to see to understand. His had a matching interior and the car still looked like it had just rolled off the showroom floor and I don't remember ever seeing it dirty while he had it. He added some Chrome Wheels and the narrow White Wall Tires that were starting to be the style of the day. With a 312, Auto. Trans. and the new Glass Packs it got noticed where ever he went. -
Great looking build. I like the patina and the perfect Hood Ornament.

Death of the Camaro? (Again?)
espo replied to MrObsessive's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
While the Charger might not be considered to be in the same sales segment as the Camaro or the Mustang, They are a hoot to drive when no one is looking. We're on our second Charger and we never even considered anything else when we replaced our '10 RT with AWD. -

The paint looks fine to me. I have to agree with Bucky on the Hood, I like that also. -
Amt GMC Sonoma

Nice looking paint work. Didn't you post pictures of your 1:1 Sonoma some time ago ? -
I agree with what you're saying, but the '48 Ford kit had this board lite up like a light bulb when it first came out. Everyone eventually calmed down and started build it. Been pretty popular ever since. I think the same will happen here. A few tweaks here and there or what ever makes you happy and enjoy the build.

Great looking paint finish and I like the slightly lowered stance. These Buicks were really under appreciated at the time. I remember go to the old Orange County Raceway on Orange County California in the early '70's and watch these cars dominate their class almost every weekend. Any of the Stage I or II cars were amazing to see.
